No fog?

Recommended Posts

Is there no fog at all in DayZ? The weather changes, but I've never seen fog (except that in 2 km distance when it's raining). I'm speaking of fog that equals for example in Arma2/3 "x setfog 0.5"

There was a dev tracker post a few months ago showing screenshots of possible fog, but I'm not sure it's worth it with the current engine. Might have to redo it again when they change engines.... We'll see, but I agree and would like to see fog too.

I reading on steam forums they try fog and it making FPS doing big drop like 40% what is strange because in fog you seeing less but arma engine is force to render everythings in the map even when you don't see from fog etc

Maybe they want to implement the new Arma 3 fog. However, CHANGING (like weather) fog that conceils things and players in a few hundred meters distance would contribute to the game.

Lol, in Arma 2/3 the old style fog INCREASES FPS. I wonder why there is no fog at all, since absolutely nobody needs a view distance greater than 1km (hmm, ok, for pathfinding by using big landmarks in the distance). And fog doesn't 'cut off' the environment like setviewdistance.

Hopefully its a server side option this way people can customized it anyway they wish .

Im hoping for fog, and if you look at Arma III, you will see the fog is perfectly within the engine capabilities.

If they can make the rain look and feel better then the one in Arma III (people on BI forums are truly jealous) then why shouldnt they be able to make an awsome fog.

I think the problem is making dynamic fog, they just have to figure out how to do it the best way possible :)

I have my hopes hehe.

yes

fog would make a big change of play the game like sneak around and avoid zombie and players and also it will make things like hiding what I like to do more easier and more fun it is a great way to add atmosphere and increase the fear of the forest and the open fields if you cannot see what you are running to

PUT FOG

Fog that reduces visibility to 100 meters would suck. I saw it on one of the private server with some fog mod.

Do not want.

yeah, but it would have to come and go. in the mornings maybe, but i enjoy sitting on top of a mountain and watching the sun shine through the trees. would not get that if there was constant fog. it should be part of the weather patterns, but not something that sweeps over every half an hour...

anyone remember the fog closing in when it rained on the mod? Does that still happen?

It was quite realistic, if a pain in the ass....couldn't see the 2nd electro fireststion from sniper hill when it rained ;)

PS, if wind and weather will effect shots....im sure we will get some pretty cool fog later on :)
