Bohemia isn't going to let this game NOT be finished. Whether you like Dean or not, a company like Bohemia isn't going to let that happen.

I am pretty sure things happen no matter the studio, i mean honestly this could be the reason Bohemia is letting it happen.  To prove to them that if everything is not handled in house it will fall to bits.

I like to agree with you in that they will back up and provide more support for Dead and his crew, but i do not know the numbers, how many man hours and so on.  For all we know Bohemia could be on the fence of pulling the plug and or their name from this.  We never know until its done.

While i wish that was the case in this world, most studios just worry about there bottom figures, if it starts to affect them they will pull the plug without thinking about it.  When something is dead weight you cut it off.  This obviously isnt the case for this game seeing how its still selling like Hot Cakes at a fat camp, but we just never know is the way i am looking at this.

Bohemia has real incentive to make sure that this game doesn't fail in that it's their first game (I think, could be wrong) that was at the top of Steam's most purchased games list for weeks at a time. The ARMA franchise, good as it is, is a much more niche game with a much smaller market than other FPSs out there. DayZ, assuming it becomes the game I'm confident it will, is a game changer for BI.

We can only hope, thats why ive said i just dont know.  This game i was hoping would grab this genre by the horns and rule with an iron fist.  From PC to Console, this was the only Zed Survival i want to play.  You are 100% right with the Niche of ArmA, being a veteran myself, i would have never found out about BI if it wasnt for these awesome ArmA games.  I just really hope BI has a failsafe in plan.  It is at the end of the DayZ  Rockets baby right?

That would depend on the contract they signed when they decided to make DayZ an official Bohemia release. I would imagine (and it would be the only pragmatic approach for BI), that they retain the ability to remove project leads from projects if they feel they're not making enough progress in the right direction. I don't anticipate that would happen here, except in the most extreme of circumstances due to the visibility of Rocket on twitter and reddit, but I would imagine it's possible.

as i've suspected for ages...

this game will NEVER hit its full retail release candidate..

it will either have been turned over to the mod community to finish or simply forgotten about under the heaps of other new survival games that actualy get finished..

personaly i think the mod community is the ONLY road left for SA to be truely successful and what it was hoping to be..

Yea, right...the game would be destroyed by the community if they get complete control.

You are the one calling names and telling my im not worth a damn and IM trolling? Please explain your logic to me.

Don't let the ego-tistic (somewhat) veteran here get to you.

Understood, i take it would be very cool to see how invested they are in terms of supplying new people to the team.  It is to my understanding Rocket hired a group of new people to deal with the Zeds as we speak.  Now do you think BI would have to give the green light or is Rocket more so acting out as a Merc with BI on the back of his shirt.  Initially i thought BI actually didnt get behind this until semi recently, so now my wonder is what is being dictated and micro managed vs free lanced.

Why wouldn't they release it as a full retail, which itself is a strange concept.

It is essentially at retail right now.  $30 through digital distribution.  For a game like Dayz, digital distribution is the perfect medium.

Dayz is a functioning game right now.  It is alpha for strange glitches, but if they add nothing else, play with the numbers, and fix the current glitches, they could release it as a full game right now.  It wouldn't be what was promised, but it would be a game, and a very fun game at that.

I have 260 hours into a glitchy alpha build and love it.  Other than being disappointed that I didn't get the final product I wanted, if they stopped development today, I couldn't complain personally.  I have paid $.12 an hour for this game.  That is a great return on my investment.

BI is likely staying out of the day to day business of the development of the game and letting the current dev team handle it.

Guys, this is not the place to have personal arguments. Keep calm, don't make it personal and everything will go well. If you continue with your personal arguments you will have to be warned, however.

I have so many mixed feelings solely because of what Dean said a while back about giving it up to Bohemia so he can progress his own desires. I honestly believe the game, for the most part, IS finished. They have yet to add features which will come and tweaks to the performance, but overall, the game is a stable product. IMO, it should be classified as "beta" at this point. I feel, inevitably, it will mature into a "players mod" game, just like ARMA and that will be the extent of it. it's still going to be a solid game, even if it didn't change from this day forth.

I think it is still quite a long way from the features they want.  Until all features are added, it isn't really a beta.  A beta is final polishing and bug hunting.

Again, Bohemia is far more trustworthy than Dean.  At this point, Dean could be removed.  His contribution is essentially done.  His ideas are in development.  The development team will execute.

No wonder development progress is so slow: Dean spends all day trying to farm subsidies for transporting mail from Fardington to Frenninghall-on-sea.

Nice and all but if nobody is playing it they'll just switch the servers off, they've got there money in a few years they'll be doing something different anyway.

You appear to have mixed up Bohemia Interactive with Sony.

You want everyone to go away your going to be left with a very small playerbase. If the game has no one that wants to purchase it how do you expect big new features to be put in? The funds they have for this game CANNOT last forever and they need to make money somehow. You expect the developers to magically be making new content without some kind of funds?

Because getting ride of the ppl that promote your game is such a fucking GOOD idea.

I don't really care if not many people are playing the game in years from now, because the game will have been designed for the core fans and not to be some mass-market generic needs.

It doesn't matter that will eventually come and bite him in the ass in the long run. And if not now than latter on down the line. If he expects modders to help fix the game its only going to do one thing and thats divide the community even more.

First now after the game have sold over 2 mill he says the game will only be for a very small percent for the community. Well this proves that Rocket doesn't listen to the community at all and he shows his true face.

did you expect the game that was made for survival play to suddenly become a CoD clone with lots of zombies?

DayZ started with a very small starting community of an allready small community, namely arma 2 players

Just because you followed the hype does not mean you will like the game
