I had been playing the game frequently since around .48 and took a long break near .51. I recently just came back about 2 months ago and it has been a stark difference in game play and approach. However, all it took was a hour browsing the forums and I was able to catch up on just about all I needed to know. The most startling changes I was welcomed with were zombies being much more dangerous and frequent. Hypothermia was the second biggest hurdle. And the third, being wolf encounters. Outside of that, the game is still as playable as it was when I first started. Meaning, loot, encounters, survival techniques, haven't really changed. As mentioned about fresh spawning in...apple trees have become a staple in my game play now. I had never once used that approach before my most recent return. It's almost a requirement to survive the first hour of a fresh spawn. Loot spawning inside cloths is a very nice addition. One I thought always needed to be added. I'm glad they did this.

Well I just encountered my first pack of wolves somewhere W by SW on the map. There were 5 of them from what I could see. Luckily I was near a house I just finished ransacking. I ran back and locked them out. They fucking wouldn't leave. I attacked a couple through the window, but didn't kill them. One got in somehow and it took 5 whacks with a pristine fire axe to down that one. But I think it was glitched, I couldn't loot it. I waited around, (no movement) for about 10 min and it seemed like they were leaving. After a bit longer, I crouch/walked inside the house, but those fuckers didn't go far enough away, and came running back! Well, fuck this, and I had to CB to another server. I had an SKS but not enough ammo to waste on those fuckers!!

When I went to log in this morning I got a pop up from my anti virus saying a malicious act was blocked before the application could execute. Now Dayz won't launch from the desktop or the file manager. I was going to uninstall and reinstall but for some reason the .exe file is now missing from my downloads. The game has been playing fine up until yesterday. I can't find any links from the website for people who have already purchased the game to get another install copy. Any ideas on what might have happened, or suggestions?

So I been alive for over a week and was feeling good. Decided to go north past the NEAF and hit up some of the new towns. I loot out the airfield and proceed north when the door bell rings. Damn if it wasn't solicitors. So I told them, "dude, I'm busy, come back later." When I got back to my computer, "Your are dead." WTF. There was only 4 people on the server and I had just cleared out NEAF so I was pretty damn sure there was no players around. Don't know what killed me but it is what it is. Don't get distracted playing Dayz.

My priority forward will be finding those damn matches. If I could only trade a box of bullets for a match.... Someone mentioned in another thread that the cold/freezing/hyperthermia mechanic was bugged on most servers and that may be what I have been experiencing. I'd say I've gone from fresh spawn to "cold" to "freezing" to "hypothermia" to "death" in the span of 40 to 60 minutes. When you are lost out in the woods, it could take half that time just to find a settlement, let alone one big enough to have the loot you need to make a fire.

Yea, I'm glad they are adding weather effects to survival but it seems like as soon as you get cold.....your doomed to die. 90% of the time it's raining so that doesn't help. Since they added this feature, all my deaths have been due to hypothermia. I've clothed up and even worn rain coats and down jackets. Also trying to just get indoors before "hypothermia" sets in and waiting it out. But that doesn't have any effect. I know making a fire will combat the effects but most of the time I don't or can't find the materials to make a fire IN TIME. I'm finding it hard to see the point in continuing once "cold" "wet" "I'm freezing" set in. It just becomes futile to continue at that point.

My friend that got me into dayz abandoned it so now I just roam. I'll log on with no destination in mind other than to travel the map aimlessly. I think it's much more exciting to just happen upon an airfield or city town rather than "making a B line" to it for gear. Sometimes I find people in way out places that are capable of having a decent conversation.

I've had similar encounters at airfields. I still don't get why most people who are against kos agree that it is ok and/or expected at airfields. By that logic, every area that had a police station would fall under that circumstance. Cool that you were able to take control of the situation and talk it through instead of just retaliating in kind and never learning who those people were.

I would guess for the same reason why so many people favor M4's. They think they can just turn the corner on you and spray 60 rnds thinking "even if I miss, enough will land to kill them." Then they come here and cry hack or desync that THEY got killed by the other guy who only fired 2 shots.

Don't think you can as the game saves them automatically as you change them. I did have mine reset as well, but only once, when the .42 patch went to stable. Not sure why yours would randomy reset.

You can figure out for yourself any messages on the screen that use the words "poop" and "shit" are not going to be development related.

Up until the patch I wore minimal slot clothing to have a more natural look, like jeans, checkerd shirt, improvised pack. Now with fishing/hunting/cooking you really need much more inventory space to carry all the items needed to play that type of game.

I have so many mixed feelings solely because of what Dean said a while back about giving it up to Bohemia so he can progress his own desires. I honestly believe the game, for the most part, IS finished.They have yet to add features which will come and tweaks to the performance, but overall, the game is a stable product. IMO, it should be classified as "beta" at this point. I feel, inevitably, it will mature into a "players mod" game, just like ARMA and that will be the extent of it. it's still going to be a solid game, even if it didn't change from this day forth.
