Hetstaine 10852 Posted June 4, 2014 Warning..Rocket fanboi alert  Rocket said many many things, but this latest is my favourite... and keeps me warm and snuggly at night. I still play OpenTTD, despite the game being decades old. I have no desire to make mass-successful games. I want to make games that are sustainable so that I can keep playing the game for as long as I want. I make games that I want to play. The core audience needed to make DayZ sustainable over the long term is quite small.I don't really care if not many people are playing the game in years from now, because the game will have been designed for the core fans and not to be some mass-market generic needs. In response to this By the time this game gets around to Beta, it'll be forgotten about by most of the people who started playing over a year ago on the Mod and bought into the Stand Alone in hopes of playing a better version of the Mod. DemonGroover 8836 Posted June 4, 2014 I thought we all bought into this game because it was different to what was out there and i hope the Devs don't sway from their vision. I'll be playing as long as there are servers to play on.
UltimateGentleman 355 Posted June 4, 2014 Nice and all but if nobody is playing it they'll just switch the servers off, they've got there money in a few years they'll be doing something different anyway.

HEREHello there R is indeed a strange fellow and while I dont think we'll ever be bosom buddies whenever I hear snippets like this or chat to him he usually drops something like this which also makes we feel warm and tingly inside. That said, knowing the little bits of upcoming dev (no I cant say anything more) that I have been privy to, I still think the mass market is gonna love it for a long while to come. I think R is underestimating what he and the team are putting together. Rgds LoK

This is the bit that makes me feel all gooey inside, i hate it when mod players categorically state that Dayz is and always will be just a pure PvP game like its written in stone. Man Rocket is a refreshing change
Mos1ey 6301 Posted June 4, 2014 Nice and all but if nobody is playing it they'll just switch the servers off, they've got there money in a few years they'll be doing something different anyway. Who will switch the servers off? They're paid for by the community. :)
byrgesen 1341 Posted June 4, 2014 And this is exactly why i have complete confidence in Bohemia and Dean.Keep it in the niche genre, like the Arma games (NOT Arma 3), and it will be a great game. If they do it right, it will live as long as cold war assault, with a dedicated community, keeping it alive and running.

kichilron 8550 Posted June 4, 2014 Who will switch the servers off? They're paid for by the community. :) Yeah, but everybody knows, that Dean secretly owns every single Game-Server-Provider out there. May that be Vilayer, GameServers.com, DayZ.ST, HFB - they're all owned by Dean and he's making bazillions of the monies with it.

Goove 70 Posted June 4, 2014 Who will switch the servers off? They're paid for by the community. :) Well groups like mine who have the #1 US ranked server and 5th overall are just not paying until it gets shut down. The server Admins will not want to keep paying for super scripted servers when you give them nothing to protect the integrity of the server that they pay $200 sum dollars for! sai (DayZ) 137 Posted June 4, 2014 (edited) Looks like he's blasting off agaiiiiiin And I got the game because I had seen updates of them working on it for aaaages before it was released, I thought they did a lot more work than they really had, it's almost as if they only started when the "alpha" was released. None of the stuff that they were showing off before is even in the game yet.. Yes I was lied to. Great isn't it. Edited June 4, 2014 by sai
PhillyT 554 Posted June 4, 2014 I am not a fan of Dean. He is a blowhard who promises ridiculous things but doesn't have the knowledge or ability to pay off on them. I do trust Bohemia though, and think they can coax enough out of Dean to be able to sort of complete something that looks reasonably like what Dean kind of thinks he promised. Maybe.

Ill be playing until i can't possibly have fun with it anymore (which i imagine would be quite a while. Edited June 4, 2014 by Murlough

Siberian (DayZ) 527 Posted June 4, 2014 (edited) as i've suspected for ages... this game will NEVER hit its full retail release candidate.. it will either have been turned over to the mod community to finish or simply forgotten about under the heaps of other new survival games that actualy get finished.. personaly i think the mod community is the ONLY road left for SA to be truely successful and what it was hoping to be.. sloasdaylight 129 Posted June 4, 2014 Bohemia isn't going to let this game NOT be finished. Whether you like Dean or not, a company like Bohemia isn't going to let that happen.
