What Broke You?

Recommended Posts

Feeling any type of guilt after killing someone in dayz is pretty pathetic.

Are you being serious? It is quite natural to feel disappointment after investing hours of playtime into a character and then being KoSed. It is also natural to feel slightly guilty after KoSing another player. I am not talking about getting into a firefight with other people. I am talking about killing other players without engaging them in some way (e.g. torture, banditry, a firefight, etc.)

^It's not real life bro!

If you're that much of a beacon of morality then do something to help others in real life.

Never said it was real. Your only cheapening your experiance by killing everyone you see.

Bad ingame experience and encountering too much stupidity and sillines made me try to go kos and just not give a damn any more.
It was not satisfying. It was actually so boring that I lost interest in the game.

I rather took a break, and I am waiting for more content and then give it another try, instead of turning into someone who ruins the game for others as they ruin it for me.

<slight self-irony here> Call it moral highground... but it is highground and it's better to fight from highground. </slight self-irony here>

No, he really isn't if he likes to play that way.

Not broken yet. Even though I haven't given gear to the less fortunate lately, I still am no KoS'er and try to hold up every time.

here is nothing adrenaline pumping about running through the forest and then seeing a black screen saying "You are dead."

You completely disregarded what I said.

Getting killed randomly isn't. Having interactions with other players is. If you shoot everyone you see, you eliminate social interaction. Which is boring and no different from playing a TDM game.

All these things you're saying, all of you here, means that Standalone is completely ruined.

A game with such good posibilities, doomed forever to be an hostile place, another meaningless deathmatch.

Who's fault it is?

Ours.

Don't we like to fuck up things?

It's DM/TDM at the moment because PVE survival isn't a challenge right now even with the Heatseaking/Phasewalking zombies since you can find water/food/tools/weapons everywhere.

I was running around one day in Svetlo, turned a corner and saw a guy standing there eating. I know he saw me too. I didn't stop but to wave and went into the next building, when I came out he was standing there still and I used Voice to ask if he needed anything before I went on my way. He said, "Yeah, I do you fa**ot! DIE!" and he shot me.

Pretty much it was then that I said, "Eh, I'm not helping anyone anymore and if I see someone even bring a gun out then I'm shooting them.

I agree with you! I just misunderstood your statement. I thought you implied that getting KoSed was adrenaline inducing. :)

First I tear up my shirt for bandages, throw away the flashlight, get enough clothing with pockets to hold some food and drink, find some food and drink, find a melee weapon for zed intervention. Then I run around looking for people to interact with and find I have more fun with people then spending hours gearing up with tons of gear just to be KOS by someone using aimbot or other hacks. If I get killed no big deal takes only minutes to rinse and repeat. IMO the game is no where near polished enough to warrant gearing up and I do have so much fun meeting people and hopefully changing there mind about KOS. I would like to say if you are of KOS mentality, talk to me first, handcuff me, rob me do something to make the game more fun and interesting. KOS just means you do not know how to play the game. Anyway in 2 days I'll be playing Watch Dogs and at the end of the month The Forest (another survival game) if it doesn't get pushed back again. Happy hunting no matter your style of play.

Haven't really changed how I've played since I started.  Some of that might be a carryover from the mod.  I don't KOS but sometimes my finger gets a little itchy when I'm not 100% sure of someones intentions.  Then there are other times when I just like to have a little fun.  Met up with a fresh spawn last night and took him through Svetlo.  We ran into two guys with SKSs looking for water.  I led them to the well, shot them both while they drank, and gave my new buddy all their loot.  Afterwards we said goodbye to each other and ran off on our separate ways.  Only the dead don't benefit from death.

I wouldn't say I was ever broken. I always had the hero skin, tried to be respectful and friendly where appropriate in the mod, and for a while in the stand alone. But, there is little to do but participate in the massive gun and close combat testing that is going on :)  Keeps your interest going to try and do different things. At one point we started saying "f it, I'm killing the next guy I see, no questions", but it wasn't one particular incident, if anything just a build up of many senseless deaths, followed by an exhilarating feeling to just mow down two guys that were coming to kill you.

I still try to be have respectful and friendly in most locations, but when you go into the hotzone, you know what you are getting into. Creep up on me, expect to get shot. If you are in the "death match triad", I'm going to take a sniper shot if its there.

I figure, things will change when the survival challenge goes up for zombies, starvation, and weather, and I'll be much more willing to help people or maybe just avoid people again. But for now it is fun to get in there and mix it up and hone you abilities with firearms for the full game.

GoOogle broke me...

Hello there

Go0o0oooo00gle broke everything.

As to the game, I am a force for good, but in a very subtle way.

Ive not been "broken" yet but ive had my fingers burned.

On the whole ill leave well alone, but if you look at me wrong, ill be all over you like a cheap suit.

If I find you injured and you seem nice, Ill help you out or ill leave some spare kit near and will tell you where while i skeddadle.

Will i team up and hang around with you? Nope. Will I hang around a campfire and listen to your tales? Nope. Will i snipe a zed thats a bit to close to you? Absolutely, but if i do hit you its cause my aim sucks.

Think of me as a feral cat, ill come and get scraps from you but dont try to cuddle me.

Rgds

Oh.. personal injuries count?

I once broke my arm in half while skateboarding (handrail). I set it myself immediately after and my friend almost passed out while a hispanic lady who watched it all happen ran away with her kid.. it was sort of funny. The fire department barely believed me when they got there that it was broke in half.

I was a friendly person for around my first 20 hours.

I also bandaged people (even if they had guns) and supplied them with food, blood and ammunition although obviously there was a few people who threw this back into my face and decided to kill me for my supplies, however this didn't bother me that much.

There was one time where I met 3 guys at night in Berenzino, I'd only killed one or two people in self defense, or maybe to defend a new spawn.

My finger was still twitchy every time I had a gun in my hand. One of the guys asked me if his friend could have food, because he had no color on his screen. I told them that I was just going to get a blood bag test kit I saw earlier since I was out of food, which in all fairness I was. I set up a point in a green building whilst they stupidly remained in the open park-like field on the outskirts of Berenzino. I attached my Red Dot Sight to my M4 and waited, making sure I had my 60rd. Magazine loaded, making sure that I was coming to the right decision, I wasn't.

I held down the Left Mouse Button, pulling my mouse downwards so I can somewhat control the recoil. I didn't let go, and the muzzle flash was making it near impossible to see my targets. After going through around 40 rounds, I finally released the trigger and scanned the field. I saw 3 corpses with blood spontaneously spitting blood from all of their new orifices.

I waited in my same position, afraid to leave in case anyone else popped by for a visit. After about 5 minutes of waiting, sure enough I saw two new spawns running directly for the bodies. I instantly assumed it was the guys coming back for their loot. As soon as they got to the bodies I began spitting rounds down range.

I kept going for about 10 minutes, constantly fending off people from the body until some hero fuck decided to put a 7.62 round through my temple. I got sniped at from the Apartment Buildings, it kinda' put things in perspective about how much of a prick I was being. Oh well ;D

You're a sick bastard.

I play 100% situation orientated. For example i was in krasnostav and there were 2 players on the school. One of the guys fell off of the building and died so I decided to climb the ladder, look around talk into my microphone and the fella is gone, I even typed also and i walk around the top floor, peek in the window towards the small closet like room and surely enough, the guy is sitting there aiming down his sights straight at the door. So I put 1 7.62x39 rd right in his skull and he drops dead. I killed him there because he refused to communicate and clearly was not there for negotiations only for blood so i felt it was necessary. Also if you sound like a complete douche you're going to get shot the second you turn your back. But if you're wounded in a building with a broken leg and I have a stick of morphine damn right im going to give it to you. I'll share bandages and even saline. But if I see you kill a bambi for any reason besides him trying to knock you out im going to call you out on it, or if you're in an airfield and you look to be up to no good.

TL;DR: I won't kill you for no reasoning, will offer medical supplies and even ammunition, but if you refuse to communicate or try pull something funny expect to see the "You Are Dead" screen.

I'm at 1,000+ hours and probably almost as many kills. I help people the odd time, but for the most part I kill on sight because of the cheerleading Redditors.

Surely I've slaughtered a few by now. I hope.

*snip*

There was slight reasoning,

They constantly had their weapons out even when I told them to put theirs away. I was nervous around them, which I aren't usually around others. Something was telling me that something was wrong anyway, that feeling you get in DayZ when your adrenaline rushes, that was happening.

I had a feeling something was bad, especially when they approached me with weapons risen saying "Put your weapon away" so I had to reside to yelling "Friendly Friendly, I'm friendly.."

I had a feeling that as soon as I would give his friend a blood transfusion, a message in the bottom left of my screen would pop up saying I was being handcuffed.

Although I can't be certain this was their intentions, I sure felt like it was.
