Killing everyone doesn't mean you are the fittest....actually beeing the fittest "Darwinwise" would mean you have something in your head and not just hot air. Killing freshspawns and backstabbing players doesn't count as using your brains imo. And you can't apply that theory to the game anyway.

LigerRider 82 Posted May 6, 2014 The thing is, there is such a lack of trust in this game. I trust nobody, and nobody trusts me. I'm personally a very honest person, true to my word, so when I tell somebody that if they were to just put their weapon away and I won't shoot, I actually mean it. However, nobody else knows that, and nobody trusts that I will stay true to my word (nobody else stays true to theirs that I find on DayZ). When I sneak up on somebody and tell them something along the lines of "Hey drop your weapon and I won't shoot, I'm not interested in robbing you, I just don't trust that you won't try and shoot me" they instantly try to find out where I am, and aim their guns on places they think I am coming and tell me to show myself with no weapon. Basically, most conversations go with - "Just drop it, if I wanted you dead I'd have shot you before you even knew I was here""No you come out with your gun down" Then at that point, I either just shoot em or sneak away while they are trying to shoot me. Usually if I don't shoot them they try and hunt me down, so shooting it is.
guppy22143 1081 Posted May 6, 2014 In my opinion, DayZ puberty is hit when you know how not to be a dumbshit. If I had a nickel for every dumbshit sprinting across hills in their squeaker voices, I'd be eating nickel soup. And pointing and shooting is KoS, that's wrong and skilless. I kill for the hunt. My buddies are looting NWAF, but get camped out and killed by some fucker in the ATC. The hunt is on. I hike my ass from Berenzino all the way up to the NEAF. I have a mosin with an LRS in my hands, and an M4 on my back. I hit the treeline, and do a quick scan- no movement on the airfield. I check the prison windows, then the ACT- Sure enough, that bastard's head is peaking out, clad by a ballistics helmet. I decide it wouldn't be wise to engage at this distance, as he had the better cover. So, I wait- starve him out. Sure enough, about an hour later he comes out of this tower, my mate's SKS in his hands, hikin' to Berenzino. I tale him, and wait for my opportunity. I get it when the bastard stops for a drink in a pond. Pop him about 3 times in the head, double-tap him to keep him down. Needless to say, he got that SKS back~\ THAT'S a rush, not just seeing someone and killing them.

You do whatever you have to do to cover your ass.Sometimes you have to kill or be killed, sometimes you can be neutral, communicate and, walk away...sometimes you have to kill on sight because you know no good to you will come of it.Always defend yourself, whether you run and fight another day,go to the grave on a standoff or talk things through and head on your merry way......Every person you encounter should require a different approach.http://youtu.be/tA-AG-pJPD4?t=4m56s( I'm being something of an ass in this video, but I consider that an approach all its own.)Here we encounter two guys. Killed the armed one, spared the unarmed one. It just didn't feel right to kill him. We let him have the gear off his fallen buddy, but were careful to keep him from getting a loaded weapon. We learned about that the hard way.. Here. http://youtu.be/wuL07T5oAp0?t=2m7sYou don't have to kill everyone you see, but it might not be the worst option. :-)

Resupplying my medical equipment on a 5 person server, and I am walking down the street in Elektro. From behind me, I hear "PUT YOUR FUCKING HANDS IN THE AIR!" So, I comply. Drop my SKS, and happily greet said player with a cheery "hello! What can I help you with?" We have a chat, he gives me ammo for my SKS, we exchange jackets (we wanted eachother's), and his buddy shows me up and gives me enough food and water to get me to the NWAF and back. I wave them off, and they go on their merry way. I did my thing, and got the supplies I needed to help out a bit. Give people a chance; sometimes the risk is worth it.Damn you and your return from the dark side!

Have talked myself out of more gunfights then ive even been in lol This ^I usually do this, i would much rather part with every single item i have on me, then die, i value my life more then anything else in this game. And because of that, ive managed to stay alive for several weeks now, never shooting at anyone, and only being shot at a few times, but people hit like crap in general :) I find this a fun "playstyle" in this game, it gives meaning to your character. A seasoned player is most likely going to find some wiggle room in the situation to fight back and prevent their own robbery/ disarming. I prefer not to give anyone at all any wiggle room or chance for escape. Death to everyone I see, is my only assured means of living til the next encounter. Not true, a seasoned player would know they can't possibly turn around and kill them if they are being held up, especially if there is more than one of themThe only time someone tried to rob me they said they wanted my gun and there were 3 of them, I had a mosin and 2 of them had M4s, the other didn't have a gun, there's no way I could have got our of it alive and no way to take them all down with such a slow firing gun before they could easily kill meThey took my gun and left me with my backpack, though they shot me in the leg and left me morphineOnly reason I died is because their shot ruined my only bandage and I bled to death trying to find another oneAnd I've been playing 2 years, if it wasn't for the unfortunate part about not having a bandage I would have kept all of my other stuffWhich included a loaded pistol in my backpack Edited May 7, 2014 by Regulator Lone Warrior

stryker007 39 Posted May 7, 2014 No I just think when you were playing as a friendly you were just not that good at handling the high risk situations.... KoS is the lowest risk action and the easiest, especially when you have the drop on your target

I'm easy when it comes to getting in the moment. With each life I get attached to it and my gear. I deliberately hang on to that because I'm afraid if getting bored. By the time I feel threatened by boredom, a new patch comes out or I change my play style to create a new adventure. But when it comes to combat, I always get super paranoid and nervous because I don't want to start over. Then "You're Dead" and I forget about it and start over (most of the time). Rinse and repeat, this is the best entertainment for me. Greatest bang for the buck.

It's almost the same thing (minus looking for guns and clothing). Actually good players that can survive longer, are those that have the guts to go and confront other players and control the situation to not get killed. Before anyone starts raging at this, i'm not saying that no one should KOS anymore never ever at all.In high value loot areas like airfields and other military bases my trigger finger is a bit more loose, but i still don't kill them immediately. I still weigh in the other players actions before i decide if it's beneficial for me to just shoot them.
