DayZ Update 1.5.7

Recommended Posts

One of the new zombiesounds is really annoying.

It is that breathing-noise sounding like sampled out of some cheap porn movie.

I like the increased zombie numbers, it means that I actually have to give some thought as to whether or not I want to go explore an area. Some of them seem to be bugged though; they are standing around as if they are holding invisible weapons. Also, the save function is not working for me either - I have tried 3 different servers and have even been killed once; each time I respawned on the coast with the gear I had from the weekend. I'm not sure if that problem is because of the update but it did coincide with it. Any ideas?

Oh, also - Happy Birthday! Thanks for the great work.

Played the new patch for about 15 or so hours so far and here is my feedback.

During those 15 hours my objective was to head to NE airfield solo from spawning on coast. I died 3 times. Two of those times was after I had reached the NE airfield from Cherno. Cherno people. I took my time, looted outlying barns, deer stands, and homes. I played the game as an actual zombie survival game and not some run and gun cod wannabe. Did I have good gear.. not really. But I had plenty of food, water, and ammo. I actually left a ak kobra, m24, m4, and a ak-74 in deer stands due to problems finding ammo for them. Kept either a Winchester or m1014 due to them being quieter than any other primary except a suppressed one.

But I'm rambling. Point is the zombie count and aggro radius are not problems. All three times I died was due to zeds respawning right on top of me as I was leaving someplace. Respawn rate is a bit of an issue.

Zombie speed could be tweaked down a touch.

Spawn rate of loot is good. When coming into a new area you have to wait a minute or so for the trigger to happen so all zeds and goods are spawned in. If you take it slow this generally isn't an issue.

Zombies spawning around just about any structure out in the woods is nice.

Zeds roaming away from structures is cool as hell.

New panic feature is really unneeded. I panic enough myself and do not need the game doing it for me. The sound of it is also annoying.

I had the save bug happen to me where you lose time after a supposedly "unsaved false (1 sec)" showing in debug menu and restarting play later on another server.

The new zombie sounds are very disappointing IMHO.

I love the rest of the mod' date=' I loved the old sounds. I just can't understand why the zombie sounds went from the rage fuelled, blood curdling screams and gnashing to what sounds to me to be bored or over tired housewives preforming their marital duties.

Am I missing something? What is the logic behind the new sounds?

[/quote']

I don't wanna sound mean or anything but do you have ears? Thew new zombie sounds are simply a fucking masterpiece. The old noises are something we've heard a fucking 1000 times, ok I get it a screaming lunatic zombie, cool! Now the new zombies sound like a decaying pile of fucking human carcass. The old sounds definitely aren't bad at all, but compared to the new sounds it's just insane. This new patch can be 100% shit, but those sounds are a definite keeper.

Went in first time after 1.5.7 update no problem with Loading and Waiting but I spawned on wrong place. Last time I was on EU9 and disconnected north-east of Berezino and this time I was on same server but spawned south of Nizhnoe on coast. Not very far but still not same spot. Though just to give you heads up.

Edit: Happy belated birthday Rocket ;)

I also spawned in the wrong spot. I'm not familar enough with the map to say exsactly where but I was in a villiage and spawned on the coast when I logged on again. Still had all my gear so it wasn't a restart.

I'd also like to ask for the zombies or at least some of them to be slowed down. Getting a head shot on a zombie running towards you is near impossible and we are forced to go into a structure (forcing them to walk) to deal with the large numbers that gunfire attracts (I have no problem with the sound attracting them).

I think maybe a melee option would solve this. Sometimes we are forced because of a mistake to kill that one zombie that has seen us. This brings all his mates and killing them without using the "go inside" glitch isn't something you can do without using lots of ammo (because the headshot option isn't viable at the speed they run towards you).

I think the numbers are good, much scarier than before. Before I would only really die to players or having my leg broken by ladders or doors making me bleed out.

My "wishlist" for the next patch would be:

Melee attacks

And food/water system not continuing when offline.

The recent upgrades to the character server seemed to have broken the game for me, ever since it happened I've been unable to login.

I keep getting stuck on the loading screen, I've tried restarting, different modems and reinstalling the game client to no luck. I see in the tech support forums that others are having the same issue, any word from the devs about the issue would be appreciated.

Some feedback:

05/13 i deco. I was in the Black Forest, on the center of the map.

05/14 after a nice day of "skinning" for some new zombie skins, I launch the game for a short session (3/4 hours ^^).

haaaaa a night like I love it: F***ing pitch black. But, what's that sound... the sea :dodgy: (maybe my char go here to drink but seriously... there's ponds everywhere dude!)

So I take my compass in the right hand and my balls in the left and I start to walk in this dark hell. Every 30/50m I light my G17 lamp.

When I was at 500/600m of the beach I heard a sound. A new one. I push L and ...FOR F***ING SACK WHAT THE HELL YOU SON OF A... A zombie standing in my light, 2m from me. After a little shit-in-pants party, I was going back in my so uninfested forest.

Just for saying: 2m of a zombie and he didn't attack. Good for me but i don't think it was a good manner for a normal undead men.

P.S. Happy birthday dude!

A dying fucking elk, huh? I laughed a little.

I agree the new sounds rock. The old ones were boring and I swear I heard them somewhere before...

One of them made a sound like Predator - the clicking woodpecker like sound - which freaked me out up close. Don't believe I heard that in the original sounds.

I like the high number of zombies. And it would be bearable if they weren't allowed to run.

Perhaps a zombie that recently killed someone would go into a running frenzy.

But what I personally love about zombies is that they are generally slow, stupid and rotting. Rotting muscles don't move so fast. And that their strength is within their numbers. Their ability to horde and swarm you. The fact that their numbers are greater than your ammo.

I pretty much share Simon Pegg's opinion on why Zombies Shouldn't Run: http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2008/nov/04/television-simon-pegg-dead-set

Feedback:

There are a metric shit-ton of zombies. I love it! =D

More zombies has made exploring a city far more challenging and unforgiving. However I also noticed that in some locations zombies spawn in the floor (this may have happened pre 1.5.7, but has become much more apparent now)

Trying to kill a jumper in the ground felt like a twisted form of whack-a-mole:

(My bug report for this issue is still awaiting approval.)

While Experiencing the 'Bird Simulator' bug I also noticed that zombies will sometimes spawn above one another, resulting in them bouncing up and down

I'm waiting for a new computer (specially bought for Day Z) so I didn't played with high number of zombies, BUT!

I think that it is far more better if they're more but also I think the same that zombies should't be allowed to run. They're slow, stupid as shi... etc. etc. so, hordez of zombies and slow as snails.

I wonder what Rocket thinks about speed of zeds.

Zombies should run.

Zombies should be a challenge.

They should swarm you like flies to poop.

You are after all a delicious morsel to perpetually hungry mindless beasts :D

The typical stereotype of the "undead" zombie has been over used and overworked in my opinion.

These are not dead, they are infected - all their organs seem to function correctly, and they are warm blooded, they bleed (cardio system seems intact), so they should be able to sprint.

Pulmonary system is intact as they can articulate some form of communication.

What i would love is a group scream sound to come from large populations of zeds when they hear a loud noise! :)

My feedback after 20+ hrs of 1.5.6 and 5+hrs of 1.5.7 for bugs, suggestions and feedback on changes

1) Not totally sold on the panic sound but do quite like the idea of player generated sounds outside of moving. Perhaps random chance of sneezing and coughing if illness makes it into the game.

2) Really hoping for the inclusion of moving attacks from zombies. Currently too easy to exploit their movement/attack.

3) Players logging out!! My biggest gripe. I think players should have to find a safe spot (distance from zeds) to then set up a bedroll that takes 20-30 seconds of animation before having the option to log off. If a player doesn't do this there should be a heavy penalty (loss of gear, KO'd etc)

4) Slight increase in vehicles numbers but less fuel available to run them for lengthy periods.

5) More hunting knives (if zombie count and re-spawn rate continue to present such high levels of difficulty around towns/buildings)

6) Ladders... :P

7) Zombie attacks and movement through walls

Other than that i haven't really experienced any crippling bugs and problems that can't be related back to surge in popularity and Alpha status.

Well done for the alpha version, but need more servers.

Also give my opinion about the number of zombies in the game. Zombie has been quite a lot, but it is logical for large settlements, but when you see about ten zombies at the barn in the woods or an empty gas station (distant from the city) it is in my opinion is strange. Please, explain to me how they could be there?

It would be great to see the more different density of zombies spawn in towns and abandoned places.

Noticed an issue with lots of zombies spawning literally 5 metres from me in my line of sight, happening ALOT.

I think there should be more now hear me out.

If you make it for different area spawn more and some less Is would at deff to the game.

Making good loot spots impossible to go by your self and hard with a group.

To organize this you could grade loot areas and make a rage of zombie spawns in that area increase or lower depending on the grade of loot that will spawn.

sorry for the suggestion at wrong locations

But last night I haven't had more fun. With the number of zombies the group that I belong to had to really think before entering a military base it took as a good hour to get in and we only could stay for 10 mins before we had to high tail it out of there or we would have lost some lifes keep in mind this was a group of five three highly skilled players that been playing long time and two player that just started the day before.

But keep the good work up and hope you had a good one rocket
