What I predict DayZ will achieve by the end of the year.

Recommended Posts

By the end of the year, I am making an assumption based off the slow poke ass rate dayz is going.

What I think will get implemented by the end of the year:

-Bikes

-Animals to hunt

- Two or 3 new weapons

- A new shirt

- 1 new attachment

I think I can say that's a safe assumption on the SLOW RATE this is going.

Have your hopes up guys!!

Yeah 2 or 3 new weapons, in ONE update we got 4, since release weve gotten 9 i believe, not to mention the:

Throwing stuff (SDK physics engine)

4 new confirmed/released towns

Heaps of new clothing

4 new buildings and more in the works

Guaranteed messaging

New food and drinks

64 bit servers and loot respawns (in next update)

Respawning zombies

Rain

HDR lighting

Lots of bug fixes

Much more

I know it's a kind of different engine and all but I kind of find it sad that we are just struggling to get the stuff that was already in the mod.

You aren't struggling with anything. You are sitting on your ass complaining about how impatient you are.

OH i'm sorry, let me rephrase that for you so you can understand.

The DEVs are struggling to create things that were already in the mod.

Not to mention:

- More bugs then fixes

- More hackers

- Having to press you hot keyed gun an extra 5 times on top of the 5-6 times you already have to press it

- More powerful zombies

- Zonbies being nerfed again straight after due to crying forums posts (hey.... That exactly what happened in the mod)

- Private servers where admins will find ways to abuse the game

- More military bases so everyone can find a gun easier

The most important thing to fix is the lagg and and stuttering of the game.

This is the most important thing to do along with zombie walking accross walls and can't going up the stairs.

This is a ongoing process by the way. Ist nothing you can FIX FIRST. Netcode and the volume of data transfered from Client to Server and vice versa will be reduced..it was said in some of rockets interviews imoh. It will be worse in between, it will be better. Almost all betas/ Alphas have horrible netcode/Server structure ( remembers the COH Alpha/beta...horrible POS, after release it was fine )

Also...i hope they add slip-ons... :D

and ALLWAYS remember the good old bugfix Mantra: "99 Bugs, fixed one...128 bugs..."

That is because instead of simply modifying like they did in the mod, they are actually remaking/adding whole parts of it.

Would be good to have a bit more evenness when you are running up a slope, and drop to a dead walk when the slope gets slightly steeper. If you can run that fast, you ought to be able to scramble up a real slope fairly quickly. I don't mind - just remarking.

Yes COH aka Company of Heroes ;)

The central Server Performance was sososososo bad. Almost all games i had the questionable pleasure of testing. ( old Job was with a german games-company )  had horrid netcode, ran like crap ect, ect placeholders everywhere, think of a bug..i prolly have seen it :D  ( altho i was better off than the poor sods that had to test "my Pony" games.. :D  )

What I predict DayZ will achieve by the end of the year: Shaking off all the annoyingly impatient people and establishing a proper player base.

2 years in alpha. Less bugs. Better zombies. More weapons. More things to do. Vehicles. Less hackers now cause they moved to the standalone.

Give me spazy ass zombies any day over the current l4d tank zombies we have that also possess magical powers such as the ability to one hit kill you, walk through walls, use telekinesis to hit you and see you a kilometre away in a forest.

What part of zombie and animal ai is still being worked on don't you understand?

All i want is a polished version of the mod. They didnt need to do a total re-invention.

How to make dayZ good:

1. Take very early version of mod

2. Add crafting and base building similar to epoch (but no stupid AI trader that will let you get everything with ease)

3. Optimize performance and security

4. Release on steam for 40-50$

5. Allow private servers/modded servers from day 1

everyone plays the servers/mods they like and no one is left QQing about game direction.

Its the truth.

Ive gone largely back to the mod. mostly private hives. Not because i want 20 bajillaion helos in cherno, but because quite frankly the games greatest strength was being built on arma. An avid modding comunity kept it thriving. "official" mod died out because people didnt like the direction it took. Comunity mods were better for the people playing them.

Private hives saved DayZ when the hacker flood started. as an admin on official you had minimal recourses to ban on your own servers with out solid logs- on  private you could spectate and even ban on suspicion alone. did some admins abuse it? sure. were there good servers with mature admins? yes. and those are the ones that became enormously popular.

Mods DID split the community. And for the better to be honest. Yes there were few purists dissapointed at the dwindling participation in official. dont blame the mods blame the devs for not producing something that was as good as or better then high popular mods (See: dayZero, Epoch, Origins) these split offs all had thier flaws but offered way more to thier player base then official did.

I seriously would have ponied up 59.99$ (the release day going rate of AAA titles in the US) on day one for polished version of an early dayZ mod with comunity mods/private hives allowed. Why? look where this alpha made my professional devs is right now? Search youtube for SA private hive and you'll see they already have tents and vheicles working. its basicly a dayZ vanilla mod redux. Funny isnt it? those of us who bought legitimate copies are locke dout of playign on servers with modded files- but the pirates get to enjoy a game worked on by modders thats already further ahead then this will be in the next 6 months.

Edit: Not by any means endorsing piracy. i blame those filthy scumbags for all the DRM headaches i have to deal with on modern releases. it just GRIND MY FREAKING GEARS that they're the only ones with working vehicles in SA, while we get excuses.
