Move the spawning points

Recommended Posts

Probably been discussed before, but maybe it would be better to move spawning points to opposite ends of the maps. Main reason, it will force players to move inland rather than just camp on the outskirts of beach towns. Even hunting and base building wont solve the "99% of action is on coastline". The main problem i see with my idea is orientation, so it would be good to start of with 1 item of food. And maybe a basic map and/or compass.

This brings me to another idea, even though i like the "if you want the map, find it", its become kind of an obsolete item, as everyone just uses online maps, maybe a map should be built into our inventory.

It used to be on the other side but people still camped the coast, maybe camped it even more, but I think they should change it  because the east coast is just boring. It takes so long to find loot, by the time I find a pistol I just get bored and stop playing. I want the old spawn system back more than anything.

berezino is massive, its got everything you could need, or up to svetlojarsk, even kamyshovo has a police station, its more rual than south coast maybe although stil cool locations liek factory, but you can get to ponala, airbase, or staroye before you die as long as you get water from one of the many wells on the east coast also, you can get sorted even on a busy server, when you get used to it no matter where you spawn, or if you dont, then it was a crazy adventure anyway.

( i was just replyin to teh east coast is boring comment there sorry)

Probably is because im just not used to it. I played the mod almost since it came out and I just prefer the other spawns. Im trying to give it a shot but everything is normally looted and I just get bored.

moving them west of elektro means more pvp

the current spawn are boring already, but gives people a chance to see the northeast

If you find running boring then this game isn't for you. You'll have to do it for at least three months more until vehicles are added :D

Maybe we need to have more players per server, think 40 is max. I would just like to see players using more of rest of the map. At the moment you can freely run the whole map except the coast, and airports (anywhere where there is guns spawning). I have been playing since january this year, and have only come across 2 players deep inland, zelenogorsk but only because it also has an army base.

Keep it as it is this way you know you only have to avoid everything between Balota and Elektro...

Every time I have spawned between elektro and cherno I have been shotted maybe spawning in west coast could be less dangerous but east have pretty much different spawning place so in one server there just can not be enough KoS and sadistic people at all east coast.

ok so why are you playing this game?

dont u realise the game is meant to be difficult? do you want it set up so theres always gona be food, drink and a gun exactly where you want it to be, every time??

i don't understand your comments at all.

if you cant move to another town slightly inland, even the next one, or the next one , if need be, and enjoy that experience, then as someone else said, thsi is not the game you shoudl be playing!

its not always about m4 + balistic hemet + tkso pants and 4 mags......

black and white screen, with screwdriver, empty badly damaged school bag, and dehydrated in red, with zombies standing around the well, is also the dayz experience.

Thats my point, because everyone spawns at coast, and everyone else come back to coast once heavily armed, you will never be able to find enough food there. You must move inland to survive, but as soon as you are 2 min inland, you are safe. Thats when the game gets boring

I don't see the sea from a long time.. when i die i always head for inland cities and specially around the airfield you meet loads of players. you will be surprised by how many people (and less cheaters) you can find at stary or novy sobor. So personally i don't think the spawn points are bad. If you need fast action (and usually a fast and stupid death) just jump from somewhere and wait for an elektro or cherno respawn and have fun..

Oh and by the way, cause we do real roleplay, we use only ingame maps and we like the chellange to build a full map and try to navigate only using roads signals and points of interest as landmark, sometimes we've found some nice hidden areas. so: easy map? No thank you!

On the topic of spawning, i also think places where certain items spawn should be implemented, for example tools like crowbars, axes, spanners, should be spawning in sheds and garages, not kitchens. Maybe introduce gun safes rather than just have them lying around on shelves. Looting shouldnt be random, if we need food, look in kitchens, if you need an axe, shed and so on

Dont be tell me what to do and not do. If I didnt enjoy it then why would I still be playing for years. I played this game since it first came out.... Just because I like the other spawn system  doesnt mean I dont like the game. The east coast has always been boring, even on the mod.

It wouldn't work well considering Balota and the other high-value areas along that part of the coast. Maybe once loot respawning is implemented, but I'm okay with what they have now.

I'd personally rather have spawns around the whole map but a lot of people seem to like the idea of always-coastal spawns, so I support it.

Just make 1 map for the entire map. There is no need for mini puzzle games.

""cause we do real roleplay, we use only ingame maps and we like the chellange to build a full map""

Real roleplay?

You consider collecting pieces of paper a challenge?

No this is one of the most stupid things in dayz imo (obviously, who's opinion would it be?? lol)).

Having a map split into eight pieces is ridiculous. Having a map written in English when all the road signs are written in Cryllic is ridiculous. Maps should be one of the easiest things to find in a game. Everyone I know has some kind of map in their car or their house and if not then OS maps of the area easily found in shops and they cover larger areas than the map size anyway so who the hell is making 1/4 maps of the area? What would be the RL use of a map covering 9 square miles?

Because you can't read the road signs, like these guys....

Try finding those places on your map. So when you find a map, unless you've been playing the game for a while it's not going to be much help if you get lost which new players are going to do. Why even make it this hard and force players out of the game to look at other maps. We need just one map, in cryllic and they need to be more frequent.

They also need to stop spawning on top of book cases where you can't see them in first person.

you are complaining about the game,

im not telling you what to do, im letting you know that if you find it boring or difficult when spawning on east coast, then you need to either learn to play the game as it is now, or as someone else suggested, you are playing the wrong game,

Maybe you need to play dayz a bit more or look a bit better ( we play only hardcore also so only 1st person mode) Map are easy to find and you can find also "half maps" not only 1/4, get a full map it's pretty easy (too easy imo), it seems people are always complaining about finding gun magazine and maps while we always find loads, oh and we always avoid high loot and 2/1 hours reboot servers

I'm not sure how I "look better" as I walk all over the map and scour buildings and I don't need to play more, I've been playing Arma 2 and DayZ for years and I know the map good enough not to need a map unless I'm after something specific which is a town name most of the time - which makes the in game maps entirely useless for the purpose of finding your way around!

If you get lost and find a map how are you going to tell which town you are in?

I understand its supposed to be realism, but thats gone down the drain when it comes to maps and talk functions, as 99% players use web maps and team speak clients .

Yeah I know but what about the players in game that want to use the map. Currently I have no choice but to refer to a third party map to understand town names. There is no way of working out the name of the town using a map written in English like "Ctapoe" for example - wtf? That's "Staroye" if you were wondering.

You have to think about the thought process here by the dev team. They made all the road signs and town signs in Cryllic in the 3D World and yet when they made the in-game map, not one person thought to mention this slight oversight? If you were driving in the region in the real world, a map in English would be useless to you as well! You would have to call a friend and get them on google and say, "OK here's how it's spelt, Errr ok it's looks like a weird captial "A" then a "Y" the number "6" then a "K" and then a backwards "N" can you find that for me?" ...."Let me see.....oh you're in a small town called "Dubky".

So Ay6kn spells Dubky.

I'm Serbian by nationality, so I can read the Russian Cyrillic, some letters aren't the same as English alphabet. But agree with you, even though it adds authenticity to the game, it can be a problem for most player base
