HiddenPuppy 16 Posted April 3, 2014 Does anybody know the damage values of all of the dayz guns? All of the wikis provided me with mixed results. Also want to know where to find 10-22 & Mk2 magazines..You can smite this topic if it's dumb.. Don't mind.

amiasfree 262 Posted April 3, 2014 (edited) To answer your magazine question, the LR 22 mags can be found in police buildings, barracks, hangars, prison buildings, at least that's where I've found them, haven't found the pistol mags yet. As for damage values, I saw someone pull up what looked like item stats directly from the game files on here, if that makes any sense? Not weapon stats, but I'd imagine you'd find that there too. -Gews- 7443 Posted April 3, 2014 7.62x51mm = 80007.62x39mm = 50135.56x45mm = 3555.45 ACP = 45009x19mm = 2722.22 LR = 1125 In my opinion: -5.56 is too weak compared to 7.62x39 and 7.62x51-.45 ACP should be weaker than 5.56-9x19mm is too weak compared to .45 ACP
-Gews- 7443 Posted April 3, 2014 Oh, and 00 buckshot = 2000 and these values are just random numbers for comparative purposes and don't correspond to "blood loss" or anything like that.

Health is out of 12000 aint it? (Like the mod) Also, are these damage values at 100m? 100M-? or more? Edited April 3, 2014 by HiddenPuppy

A 7.62 round will impart more of that energy into the target due to it's higher mass. The .45 ACP at close range (<60m) would do more damage to a soft target than the 5.56 due to the larger, heavier round's ability to impart more energy into the target. 5.56's advantage is in a flatter tragectory over range and generally higher sustained rate of accurate fire with less recoil.

My understanding is the 7.62 because of the bullet mass and energy, tends to leave 'small' entry and exit wounds (goes straight through) so higher survivability, but the 5.56 tends to tumble in flight and then to fragment on entry, making by far a much bigger mess. The advantage of the heavier 7.62 is that it penetrates cover - undergrowth, wood siding, metal car bodywork - better than 5.56 and with less deviation Neither of these differences are reflected in the game, as I understand. AND I want to point out I'm just a guy in the street, NOT an expert in any sense.

HiddenPuppy 16 Posted April 3, 2014 What about .357?y-yeah... i completely forgot about that (And its one of my favorites too :|) And what i was talking about this: As far as rifles go, the 5.56 & 7.62 relative "damage" reflects their difference in muzzle energy which is fair. A 7.62 round will impart more of that energy into the target due to it's higher mass. I meant is it 8k damage to players at muzzle velocity? or at 100m?
taco86 156 Posted April 3, 2014 (edited) The .45 ACP at close range (<60m) would do more damage to a soft target than the 5.56 due to the larger, heavier round's ability to impart more energy into the target. Not true... At close range 5.56 is at it's deadliest... At these ranges, m855 is moving at 2,500 ft/s+ which is more or less the required muzzle velocity for the round to yaw and disintegrate correctly. m855 and m193 dump their energy extremely fast so long as it's above said velocity, which in the case of the m4a1 is probably 130m and under, or in the case of an m16 closer to 200m and under. At velocities under 2,500 ft/s, the probability of "swiss cheesing" a target becomes drastically more probable... It all has to do with the forces the bullet is under when it impacts soft tissue. If the forces are great enough to cause the bullet to violently yaw and disintegrate, the round will transfer it's energy extremely fast, if the forces are not great enough, the bullet will sail right through. Here is m855 (62gr) out of a 16 inch 1/9 barrel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55CkeT7qdtM Now check out 230gr fmj .45acp https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3G-txVKnVjY Now compare them both to the m80 ball... When directly compared to the m855, the m80 clearly transfers more energy, however the depth at which it starts to drastically transfer energy is several inches deeper than the m855. This different of depth could be the difference between the m855 transferring almost all of it's 1,300 ft/lb of energy and the m80 sailing through. Now when you get beyond the relatively small effective disintegration window of the m855, the m80 looks exponentially more effective. Longer range effects are obviously not included in any of these videos though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGYF8DTLcj4 Edited April 3, 2014 by taco86

-Gews- 7443 Posted April 3, 2014 As far as rifles go, the 5.56 & 7.62 relative "damage" reflects their difference in muzzle energy which is fair. A 7.62 round will impart more of that energy into the target due to it's higher mass. 7.62 is not 2.25 times as effective as 5.56. The most important thing is shot placement. Having the damages far apart from each other takes importance away from shot placement and puts it into the caliber of the gun instead. The .45 ACP at close range (<60m) would do more damage to a soft target than the 5.56 due to the larger, heavier round's ability to impart more energy into the target. It doesn't cause worse wounds and it doesn't have more energy to transfer in the first place. .45 ACP = 369 ft-lbs 5.56x45 = 1308 ft-lbs .45 ball will just punch a hole and pass through the body. 5.56 will fragment into multiple pieces and tear a large wound. What about .357? It's the same as .45. I meant is it 8k damage to players at muzzle velocity? or at 100m? The numbers are just for comparison, it is at 0m.

If it tumbles in flight, you wont be able to hit a barn with it :) but very well put... That is exactly why the ak47 caliber is different than the new aks Edited April 4, 2014 by Frothyboot18

Crazy_Spider 235 Posted April 5, 2014 Honestly, in real life, I'd rather get shot by a sniper bullet than a shotgun/pistol/assault-rifle bullet. This is because it would probably kill me faster, or give me a better chance of living. Anyway, I've found that every single shot I take with the mosin at more than 50 meters has always been a 1 shot kill... Don't know about you guys, but the mosin is most definately more powerful than the M4 in game, easy. The SKS isn't as good as the M4, though.
Evil Minion 943 Posted June 13, 2014 Necro! Because I can't find that newer topic asking the same question. 7.62x51mm = 8000 7.62x39mm = 5013 5.56x45mm = 3555 .45 ACP = 4500 9x19mm = 2722 .22 LR = 1125 In my opinion: -5.56 is too weak compared to 7.62x39 and 7.62x51 -.45 ACP should be weaker than 5.56 -9x19mm is too weak compared to .45 ACPIf we think of them as the ballistic energy (I used about the wikipedia Joule values for scale) and keep 7.62x51mm at 8000 we get: 7.62x54mmR = 8471 (true Mosin/SVD rounds) 7.62x51mm = 8000 7.62x39mm = 4941 5.56x45mm = 4000 5.45x39mm = 3294 (AK-74 rounds) .357 Magnum = 2118 .45 ACP = 1674 9x19mm = 1412 (parabellum) 9x18mm = 706 (Makarov) .22 LR = 471 This is by no means accurate but supports your opinion. Yuval 221 Posted June 13, 2014 (edited) Isn't the health max is 5500 (The amount of mili-liters of blood a normal human got in his body) unlike the mod? All of the 762 shouldn't be above 4500 if it is true. Edited June 13, 2014 by StanleyWasHappy
