GhostSlayer (DayZ) 13 Posted March 28, 2014 I'm Curious to see how many people would like to see DayZ on the Next Gen Console, personally i wouldn't mind it on the Next Gen. i think it would be interesting and something fresh for the Console players to try. So i'm curious. Would you guys say Yes or No to this topic? I understand there will be mixed opinions.

lumo1234 68 Posted March 28, 2014 No. Dayz on console would result in a watered down experience for PC players... Look at the battlefield series. Also the amount of whiners this forum has already is enough thanks, adding in the children from xbox1/PS4 is not an idea that tickles my fancy.

The weapon dispersion, the arcade damage and ballistics are all the console watered down influence bro.
Hetstaine 10852 Posted March 28, 2014 Wouldn't bother me because the dev team are not interested in giving a console version of the game before pc so it is obviously pc first, console after instead of the other way around. Could definitely be a good experience for console players instead of the usual rubbish though.

No i can only hope that the weapon dispersion was an approach towards trying to simulate that people are civilians and that the devs have realized this is stupid and will change it later down the line. Honestly though even if they dont... MOD tools for the win i suppose ay? :P

enforcer1975 1111 Posted March 28, 2014 (edited) I wonder how many will my next gen console run DayZ threads will be opened in the forums.... Link or don't bother next time. DayZ on console, why not, BIS have already one game on Xbox. But look at the graphics...might just as well run DayZ on a 500€ PC ( http://www.gamespot.com/reviews/operation-flashpoint-elite-review/1900-6140901/ )They don't have to water it down that much with the next gen consoles but the difference in quality and i think even view distance will still be significant compared to the pc..if they actually manage to optimize the game to run on inferior hardware i will be impressed and disappointed at the same time since they didn't get their game running on high end pc systems unlike other developers. ( there was this line i read when the people from the game magazine i read asked around why a certain company could make games that run equally good on consoles and pc although they were a lot smaller than f.e. EA - the answer was silence. You can optimize any game if you put effort into it. ) Edited March 28, 2014 by Enforcer
RestlessLegs 15 Posted March 28, 2014 sure why not, servers would be separated anyway so no effect for us other than more income securing the games future

captain_finnish 134 Posted March 28, 2014 Daaaamn the hotkeybar and inventorysystem would be easy to handle with controller. Put autoaim to it too and everybody should have their nametag above them and maybe unlimited ammo and maybe remove hunger too. After all we are talking about consoles here
Weedz 1105 Posted March 28, 2014 No "next gen" consoles are a shitty 250$ PC. Xbone is even running windows.
captain_finnish 134 Posted March 28, 2014 Or wasted resources developing the console version.Daamn right! DayZ wouldnt sell too much on consoles, because DayZ is hardcore game and consolekids like it casual and easy. "Oh on PC you have drivers. Aahhhh". Nothing personal against them, as you can propably tell :D

komadose 190 Posted March 28, 2014 we are all playing DayZ on a PC now, so why the F***** would we need a console version?
Katana67 2907 Posted March 28, 2014 Yes, absolutely. If it can be feasibly done, absolutely. And I suspect people will talk about how controllers are somehow too caveman for DayZ. They aren't. Been playing DayZ with an Xbox controller since April 2012. It works like a dream. Get over it.
deebz1234 243 Posted March 28, 2014 absolutely not they can have a separate developer/team licensed game maybe.but lets not muddy the waters with console shit. remember the xbox one and ps4 could barely run SA.look @ the raw specs on those "next gen" consoles and compare them to your current PC lol...IIRC the ps4 is a dual core @ about 2.5ghz !? SGT. Kalme 106 Posted March 28, 2014 (edited) That would be pretty damn bad if they ported it to console considering RV Engine optimization. absolutely not they can have a separate developer/team licensed game maybe.but lets not muddy the waters with console shit. remember the xbox one and ps4 could barely run SA.look @ the raw specs on those "next gen" consoles and compare them to your current PC lol...IIRC the ps4 is a dual core @ about 2.5ghz !? LEL It has octa-core APU so not that bad. Keeps up with mid-end gaming PC. But we should see before how the end result will turn out. Engine is buggy already, it they can't do significant optimization to game to work along with the RV engine, it would be pretty damn sh*tty port. Take PS4 and PC running windows. They have different APIs so they can't just put it on a console and call it a day. Different APIs work differently (look at DirectX and Mantle - last one they want to implement for consoles as well to make game developing easier and lower the costs but new DirectX with low-level-access will likely be on xbox only which wouldn't solve the problem entirely). Right now they have to basically develop two games side-by-side, one for console, one for PC - usually console comes first so they can optimize it for mediocre hardware that those use and then port it over to other API like DirectX. This takes lot of time, work and money. Hence, right now taken that RV engine is not optimized for consoles, porting it would be possible but the optimization even worse. deebz1234 243 Posted March 28, 2014 ^ much agreed, however core #s mean shit atm with this engine (and arma 2/3) it would most certainly have to be a parallel development and quite dummed down i think
SGT. Kalme 106 Posted March 28, 2014 ^ much agreed, however core #s mean shit atm with this engine (and arma 2/3) it would most certainly have to be a parallel development and quite dummed down i thinkThe octa-core APU was strictly a response to a person who claimed PS4 had some old dual-core CPU and some other dusty old hardware. This is quite powerful considering the low power consumption and cost.

Murlough 192 Posted March 28, 2014 I personally would love dayZ to come to next-gen consoles. The only time i can play is when i borrow my friends pc (not yet owning one myself) and dont much like the idea of buying one for a single game despite the awesomness of it ;p. Murlough 192 Posted March 28, 2014 Wow i just finished reading the commentes and there is clearly no love for consoles... im almost ashamed of having a different opinion.
