  1. That is not how investment works :P
  2. It obviously can. Edit: It really depends on games you want to play. An R9 290 could run BF3 at 4K nicely. But games are so different from each other. Some are more CPU intensive, others put more on your GPU. If you are already going that way, then get yourself Ares III card. Hardly worth the price but if you have one, you would be one bad ass son of a ****. True story

    Computer build Advice Needed

If his license is OEM then it can only be activated on PC that it came with. If it isn't then he can activate on any PC he wants but not more than once at the time.

Do share your solid evidence. I had explained previously how DC differs from Haswell. Now that you explained it once again, it thought I'd give you a hint what TIM was. I have seen no stock Haswell chip overheating that wasn't dumbusers fault. And I was not asking anything from you.

TIM is thermal glue that is used to attach IHS to chip. Most of Z87 boards support Devil's Canyon. Needs BIOS update and that is all. Heat only matters if it exceeds what the chip is built for. For DC refresh, it is nice and all but only clockers were kept in mind when they chose to change TIM. Avg user will never experience overheating, with neither chip. And since he has 3570K, neither of the chips (Haswell or DC's) would be necessary. If you'd know anything about computers, you wouldn't post false information.

    PC Upgrades

You were talking about reasonable upgrade to Z97 and then went straight to Haswell thermal issues like they were somewhat related. If he already has a previous chip as 3570K then upgrade to 4690K is nonsense.

    PC Upgrades

Upgrade - no. If you are on the market for new PC and don't have existing Z87 motherboard laying around then Z97 makes sense. And heat problems are not tied to chipset or motherboard at all but just crapp thermal glu under IHS. 4690(K)/4790(K) has it fixed now and better glue is used. 3570K is enough for OP and upgrade is not neccessary.

If you have z87 chipset mother board now, I strictly advise against upgrading to z97. It is hardly worth the cost. You will only gain M.2 ports and that is it. Most of the motherboards are exactly the same chipset wise, for equivalent motherboard models. Your i5 will be just fine. A GTX780 will be enough for all the games and costs reasonable price. If you don't have yet, invest into SSD.
  9. Headsets suck, no matter whether they are logitechs, razer or steelseries. Buy headphones and ext mic. I use ATR2500 mc myself and it works like a charm. If I had to choose again, I might buy AT2020 but if I couldn't find one, I would buy ATR2500 again Would buy new support for it. Basic plastic tripod works but could be better. That is only complaint for me. From quality point of view, these mics are great sub-200 mics and I bought mine from Amazon when it was 43$ only.

    Need to buy headset (Suggestions?)

Even more, most of the gaming headsets consist of 10$ drivers and 2$ mic. Rest of the cost come from brand and shiny plastic. As cheap as 15$ in-ears can provide better quality in sound and any 2-3$ table mic works as good or better. For most AW users, most expensive razer headset will do but I suspect that is not the case if he says he got it with great discount.
  11. From that gpu, a 200 or 300 buck gpu will make huge difference.

    Buying a gaming PC!

Then he will switch PSU if it is necessary. There is no "what if" in PC world. Just throw the future-proofing out of the window and accept it. He would be better off buying new GPU and selling old one once he needs to upgrade it. Adding second outdated GPU is hardly efficient, ever.

    Buying a gaming PC!

GPU handles much more information and much more complex calculations. Real bottleneck is almost always software so no matter what hardware you own, if software is the bottleneck, it makes no difference.

    Pc part picker prices

Indeed. A 500W can power a 770 with highest TDP CPU and other parts on the market.
