An M4 should be considerably more accurate, but in the game it's like a goddamn shotgun at any range. Actually, most IRL shotguns have less spread than the M4 in DayZ.

10cm at 200m comes out to around 2MOA, which is unusually great accuracy for a surplus 60yr old rifle with crappy ammo.  Though it is also certainly possible if you happen to get reasonable ammo and a rilfe that likes it.

 

An AR15 with service ammo, should be in the 3-4MOA or better range.

 

Now add better components, like barrels, triggers, sights, 'match' ammo, not a fucking Magpul stock, and you should get better accuracy.  But this all applies mostly to a range where you are shooting for accuracy. 

 

The reality is that most people are much less accurate than their rifles are, especially when they are not sitting at a bench at a shooting range on a sunny no wind day.

Almost forgot about you, in the army we were issued swedish AK-4 (not a kalashnikov), galil I personally was a machinegunner Mg-3, and also we have KSP-58 I think was the model name.

But the Kalashnikov I shot back in Russia was AKM.

 

The AK-4 is a slightly modified H&K G3, the KSP-58 is an older version of the M240. 

Its realistic, the cones are just unrealistically big most of the time.

Lol this is the most butthurt thread I have seen in a while.

But what's with the ak hate? Kalashnikov style rifles are my favorite design and if used properly can be an accurate weapons.

Don't say a gun is garbage just because you don't like the design. I'm not the biggest fan of m4 and m16 but I don't say they are trash.

Different guns are better for different scenarios. In a DayZ situation I would choose a Kalashnikov for the reliability at the cost of a small amount of accuracy.

I think it's fair to say that the guns performing more realistically to their real life counterparts is something we all want.

 

A massive dick swinging contest of who knows more about guns on a game development forum is extremely shitty to have to sift through in order to find the "meat and potatoes" of this post. 

 

It is fact that a stock m4 and a stock AK47 will perform differently and have pluses and negatives each to their own. I'm sure if the developers need insight on the intricacies of real firearms and how they perform they will seek professional advice regardless of how many times we have all been to gun ranges.

I never meant to insult other members but understand I'm being belittled too. I do have a military background that I mentioned in a different thread, I'll acknowledge now cus you brought it to light. I did deny the existence of that here because of all the hate I've been receiving for living what I call a successful life...
