I had so much expectation so when I see these game breaking problems in every single patch, I go off the deep end.

 

Dude it's an ALPHA! They're going to break and re-break the game. How can you have expectations on a game that hasn't even made it to BETA yet.

Because it takes more competence and talent to patch with a working core and working AI.

You have to be kidding...

 

On a LRS,barely even able to see the Zombie from way up in the woods he suddenly turns and runs right at me

They can see for miles now,this "re-spawning" is bullshit once you shoot them or axe them to death they should be gone forever!

Doesn't make sense having them respawn afterkilling one,that is not very realistic at all

 

They can run faster than a human now,especially if your suffering from all the Lag in and around cities

I myself can not even think of going anywhere near anywhere that has food or water do to this as it is absolutely impossible for me to enter a village or city without getting killed by being swarmed by Zombies.They hit once,your bleeeding and then can not even run away to badage the wound.

 

They state of the new Zombies makes the game not only unplayable,but so difficult the game is no longer fun at all!

 

Of coarse,this is all just IMHO

 

The only part of this that I'm familiar with is the zombie view distance/awareness being glitchy.

They aren't faster than you, and there are lots of places to get food and water. Avoid the Z's when you can, they drop no loot and you don't get experience. You have literally nothing to get from engaging them if you don't have to. Run in, grab what you need, and then run to the woods. I would also recommend avoiding Cherno, as a single gunshot in there attracts loads of them. Its pretty fun :)

With the increased zed spawn and damage it would be nice to see priority put into the long outstanding zed clipping issue, which is the 4th highest voted issue:

It's clear the community would like this fixed, and with the increased zed spawnage/damage one would hope greater priority would be put on finally addressing this long outstanding issue.

Infested needs to be very difficult.. If they are just a nuisance, that sucks.. Imo they should be bad enough that you can unload with a m4a1 and still have infested be a issue.

 

Large groups too!

 

Someone running solo should have a huge problem.. In a group it should at least be somewhat of a issue.

Survive the exact same thing a person would have to survive from in a SHTF scenario.

 

When the infrastructure that you depend on collapses, without rule of law, without grocery stores stocking fresh food and water. The environment itself is what you must survive.

 

Imagine having to survive the environment, scavenge for food, build shelter or a more permanent home using your environment, having to fight off wild animals and at the same time hunt to sustain yourself.

 

At the same time imagine having to do this with the constant threat of players who may or may not be friendly.

 

The zombie mechanic was merely a gimmick that was added for the mod . It does not have to stay especially with how Dayz is transforming.

 

I think if Rocket could do it all over again he would have removed zombies all together and instead focused more on the survival aspects of the game making the environment the constant threat.

 

Not the gimmick of zombies.

Yes I am finding the view distance consistant with 10x50 vision for the Z :)

 

80 to 90 percent of there hits make one bleed for sure,I would like to see mabye 60 percent of hits from Zeds producing a bleeding condition myself.

Not everyone,or anyone I know starts off in a game as an expert,with that the new guy needs a fighting chance at least.Maybe just be but they do still seem a bit harsh in that sense.

 

They seem to catch up to me easily,and almost impossible to "run away" from without getting tagged with the bleeding/badage ritual occuring again and again.

I do believe it is most likely my Lag that makes me not able to run from them as the cities bring me down into a slide show sometimes below 10 fps

mighty hard to run in what seems like one second bursts lol but again must be my low specs,the desync /lag issues so should get back what I use to get for FPS after hotfix so no big deal there really as some don't have the lag desync issue and everything is to some even running smoother.I am all for tough,mean and more Zeds but still within reason otherwise eventually it would be good to have sperate servers wityh harder Zeds in a Veteran server aposed to a Regular with mabye not so harsh of Zeds

 

The eagle eye vision definately needs to be cut down fer sure,damn things can see better than I can :0)

 

I am pretty sneaky,usually get 15 to 25 hours per character since my third character from starting the game and I'm happy with that I get some fullfillmet having a character alive that lenght of time and hope for longer in the future as I get better.I'm usually killed at airfields or miltary bases and even then mostly by base camper/server hoppers logging in while I am looting and bang I'm dead while looting a building and not do to me running in there and just going loot crazy as I creep in and check the area out circling the area and doing a lot of watching .I spam the "P" key keeping track of players and amounts to access risk at certain times on servers I play on to keep my risk low

 

So being stealthy is ok with me,I usually loot at night or early dawn or late dusk when the Zeds can't seem to see as good.I creep around crouched down,and look...look and look some more as I sneak around.Usually having no trouble at all in avoiding them but now it is impossible to avoid them it seems and with 80 to 90 success rate to make you bleed it is a major chore.

 

I spend all my time in the woods,and rarely do loot runs only when needing to.Now I have run into quite a few Zeds standing around out in the woods and that's cool as the woods are not safe now :)

 

We must not just think of what we or I want as seasoned players ,but must remember the new guy and how he must try and survive.Sure it is a similator to some realist but it is still a game and games are meant to be fun even difficult games.At 300 hours playing now I am getting the hang of the game and usually don't have much trouble but I am now and truly can not imagine what a new player would be able to do to deal with them.

I mentioned above that third character and since have lasted usualy 10 to 25 hours or so but that was wrong

my first two dayz playing DayZ I must have died a thousand deaths lol

Third day however I made it to the NWAF and since then each character I seem to manage alright from 10 to 25 hours per character ;)

You have some serious issues.  Why don't you wait until the game is released and you can make your Arma 2.5 game from modding instead of this stupid campaign you seem to have going on trying to have zombies removed and military vehicles and bases put in everywhere

Are we all playing the same game here? 

 

Played last night for 3+ hrs and didn't see or run into any of the so called "problems" discussed in this thread. I admit, I killed more zeds last night than the rest of my Alpha time combined, however, they were still relatively easy to deal with. First time having to fend off 3 or more in a stand off, but they are still 1 shot kills with an ax. They are the threat I believe the majority of the people have been looking for, my self included. You can still sneak past/around them so I don't understand why many of you talk about these "ran down by zombie horde, 1 shot bleed to death, endless wave of spawns" encounters are coming from. Of course, I'm not the one running down main st in Elektro firing off my .22 at everything that moves. 

 

I will confirm that there are certain ones that can run you down if you have a weapon out as you sprint. I ran into 5 or 6 of this type last night and had to either stop and kill it, or find cover to LOS it. With this patch, I ended my session fearing zeds over people for sure. Not once did I fire my weapons (sks and 357) due to what I've heard about how they re spawn and aggro to fired shots. With that in mind, I'm getting good with the axe. Once you are hydrated, energized, and healing, your risk of getting bled on the first hit go down dramatically. 

 

I hope this is what they roll with. 

 

Edit: They have changed my whole approach to the game, what I find important to use (loot priority) and what types of encounters I try to create for myself because of this beefed up zed increase. No, I don't believe you'll have to ban together to loot cities, but you definitely have to adjust your play style to accommodate the zeds.

I'm all for more Zombies but not out of thin air. Them spawning two meters of the players direct surroundings is a no go. I think that the approach in the rather casual Dead Rising 3 is quite interesting. Zobie crawling out a cellar window, jumping out a window, etc. Of course they can simply stand around somewhere but in that case they should wander there from a spawning point that makes sense. Doors players can't open for example. There need to be lots of different spawning points and they should be switched by chance so there is no use in spawn camping.

Played again with my partner for the first time in weeks. Five deaths to zombies before we managed to sort our shit out. It feels so good to finally be wary of zombies. May the fun continue.

While you are right that this is a bug that the majority of the community (including me ;)) wants to be gone asap, we may have to live with it for some time.

Look at my signature, read it and think about it for a minute.

Yes, this bug (and some others) are annoying, and they will be fixed sooner or later -  but they are not the main focus of the devs (no bug is, unless it's really gamebreaking), because developing of the core mechanics is it in the Alpha, but I'm sure if they have the resources they will focus on bugs also in the Alpha :)

Zeds need to be disabled for the time being, since you can't sneak around them, unlike in the mod. They'll spot you from 400 meters range ocassionally. And no matter how hard you try to sneak around them, its impossible.

 

They aren't "hard" or "a threat" as you stated. They are just annoying right now.

Played today a little bit, but had some strange luck: Found an SKS and all in all 20 bullets, but no melee weapon except for a pipe wrench. Well...since, shooting Zs is no good idea and the wrench is an absolute disaster I had to be very carefully, but I thought I just try my luck and go for Berezino.

I was hit by 3 or 4 Zs before I even came close to the city, but I managed to take em down and get in, scavenging the houses fast and silent, always watching out to not attract any Zs...and it worked.

Some other guy was not so lucky...I never saw him alive, but he wasn't far away, maybe only across the street, I heard him shoot (a Mosin I guess) 3,4,5 shots, after that a Magnum, all 6 Bullets...and silence.

Since he was so nice to attract all Zs I could speed up (I saw 2 Zs punching the ground in house later on...guess that was him. Poor bastard.) and finally I found a Pitchfork (all hail the Piano building! ;)) and from that on, it was easy. Kill Z, run a little, loot. Repeat. :)

Last night a buddy and I played for about 4 hours. We ran out of bandages at one point, I broke a leg and crawled all the way to the hospital using my pistol to fend off zombies while my buddy axe'd them. Finally found some morphine and got fixed up, but we decided a shoot on site policy for zeds until we got more bandages- can't have any accidents and bleed out.

 

Reminds me of the good ol' days. I really don't care if the kiddies are pissed about zeds, we know they go through buildings, that will be fixed with time. Still not as hard as the mod.

 

Trial by fire! This game is supposed to be hard.

I prefer slightly slower zombies, the jog they had previously was fine. Just more of them.

I like the greater challenge the better, but i dont like rage zombies, im a walking dead fan and prefer Romero standard. Preferences aside, I think they are almost good just slighlty slower jog. However I think one swipe/bite should be potentially fatal, should bleed everytime. Going in for that axe swing needs to be riskier. its still too easy to just shit over everything with that fire axe.

Is it really that bad?? I haven't played yet, but I will be this evening. I just can't imagine there being so many zombies that you're overwhelmed. I've fought off a half-dozen or more at a time with just an axe.

It is pretty bad. They still cannot climb most stairs, but the servers are so laggy now that trying to open the fucking door to lead to a stairwell means you WILL get bit three times and they WILL clip under the stairs and carry on the chase forever.

I played yesterday evening (stable, since there is no exp atm) and did not experience any lag/desync issues - imho its smoother than ever before....but maybe thats just my impression.

But yes, they still have issues with stairs and will glitch through them often, but on the other hand, they seem not be able to punch you through the floor anymore :)

Not just you that's what the hotfix was for and why the 8000 threads per second crying about it stopped.

That's really weird - because I had the same issue until the hotfix and now I haven't it encountered it again.

 

And I hope that there will come even more tweaks for Zs apart from the announced like...military Zs with helmets that don't die instantly to an axe hit ;)
