I was killed by zombies

Yes the zombies are glitchy atm, but i would hope people aren't going to complain when zombies do actually become a real threat.

 

Does anyone remember the early days of the mod when you had to sneak and crawl into towns to gather loot rather than the sprint, gather, escape method of the later on in the mod and then the SA?

 

This is a zombie apocalypse - the zombies need to be a very real threat - in fact i would love it if some areas on the map were so infested entry on your own was pretty much suicide.

 

I remember those days DemonGroover, it was a real challenge to survive and created some of my most intense memories of the mod. I really do hope they take SA in that direction, it is way to easy at the moment even with the respawning zombies.

 

I don't like to judge people but I do get the feeling that most people(not all) who complain about the Zombies, lack of vehicles and items not respawning are the guys/girls who have either started playing late in the mods development or played on 1000 vehicle/Loads of guns/self BB servers or even the other mods like epoch where you can buy guns and vehicles at traders.

 

Again though, I would like to stress I am not tarnishing all these players with the same brush. As I do know a number of these guys won't be of the same opinion.

Me and my friend (who hadn't played since the game came out) met me in berzino and we met up in a field, i gave him a mosin with 20 bullets, i had an SKS, and an AMPHIBIA S pistol, and we were swarmed by zombies, so much so that when we were bleeding, we needed to cover eachother so that we could bandage, but they wouldnt stop!!!! they kept coming and we kept getting bloodied up nd having to rip up more of our clothes to try bandage but we ran as far as we could!! and you know what!! they kept COMING, jumping at us through trees and coming from all angles, my friend actually passed out and they ate him!! when he passed out, i sat chambering my pissy pistol firing 1 shot at a time which didnt even kill any due to how weak the gun is! for the first time ever i was defenceless, after wasting all of my ammo, so i whopped out my axe and started hacking them to death but i ended up just getting wasted my self trying to protect him before he died.

 

I must say, a very differn't experience.

So it begins! The time of the axe...

Yeah I like how the zombies are now since the patch, now if they fix it so they don't run through walls/doors that would be great, the bleeding on the first hit is annoying but, it actually forces you to keep more than 6 rags on you, lol...

 

People used to laugh at how the zombies weren't a threat at all, and all you had to do is run past them, now that they are as they should be, everyone is crying more than it rains in this game, lol...

 

Who would have thought, a post-apoc zombie survival game, having zombies that pose a threat so you have to worry about them, and fight to survive???

 

They're not anywhere near as tough as they should be imo nor are they anywhere near working for their reactions to player movement. They are woefully easy to beat, I had 4 on me in Electro yesterday and I didn't get hit once. You can literally walk up behind them and pull faces all day long.

 

At least they're a threat now but there's a huge amount of work yet to go.

hahahaha I don't HAVE to run solo - thanks to peeps like you I CHOOSE to run solo. and had you been reading in GD... I have never seen so many complaints about how hard the zeds are now. buncha fuckin babies. as for the connection issues... hotfix by morning. oh and I aint crying, I'm bitchin. I'm so sick of whiners that can't seem to rise to a small challenge and come here and cry about their ineptitude - you probably have a small dick too.

 

This I don't get - how are they hard now? And if they think it's hard now, wtf are they going to do when they're really made a threat and there's 500 of them in Cherno? LMAO I think I might just sit and watch on a hill with a pair of binos and laugh at them getting eaten to death.

 

Can't wait to find a badly damaged pair of cuffs, get one of these people, cuff them in a street then "ring the dinner bell" and hide in a room watching to see if the zeds get fed or the dinner gets away ;)

i failed to see where you were working with them? I didnt see any realistic suggestions for a faster fix. I didnt see you recognize the fact they have to test the server load for zombie respawn. I failed to see where you understood they would make poor design choices as they say in the disclaimer. I failed to see where you recognized that they have told us that they were place holders. All i seen was a kid whining about a test version of a game, so i directed you to where you could see these things, since you click "I understand" when you obviously dont

 

People need to stop acting like it is the permanent way zombies will be. They wanted to test zombie respawn, so they put in a temporay zombie respawn to see what it does. Why would you throw away days of work on a good one if you dont even know how it needs to work for server load? After they see how this crude early test works they can improve their design and put out a newer version, then they will probably do that multiple times This is an alpha right? they are testing things in an unfinished alpha, i dont understand what people dont get. They are working towards a future end product, not your current happiness. its not gonna be smooth and enjoyable to play all the time. thats why it isnt a finshed title yet, its in early alpha, and that why there is the disclaimer about not expecting a fun, enjoyable experience every time you log in. 

 

Also complaining ( as you called it yourself) is not working with anyone. And blind, time consuming suggestions with little knowledge of how things work isnt constructive either. The best thing we can do as a community is take a calm approach to the things we dont like and offer small suggestions that might help. We also should understand that things take time and there is a process to proper design of anything, will need to see things completely broken to come up with the best design when finished.

I'll toss in my 2 cents. Logged in yesterday to check out the updates after taking a week long break. Met up with a friend in Berinzino.

 

Zeds everywhere, pulled out my handy Axe and started taking them out. Had 6 bandages on me x 4 use each and went through nearly all of them in about 30-45 minutes. 

 

My only real beef is the fact that every single hit yesterday i'm bleeding. I also agree with other folks they should fix some of the glitches in addition to making them a threat. but having to bandage after every single kill where I didn't get the drop on them is sorta stupid. I wouldn't mind if i'm pummeled by a group of Zeds bleeding out, but when i'm fully geared one zed who hits me from 5 yards out should not cause me to bleed each time. thats just Dayz bandaging edition a game i'd rather not play.

Ive heard many of the zombies are overspawning, spawning aggrod to players, and spawning within their line of sight.

Not saying anything about the aggressiveness of the zombies. Thought thats what he was referring to in the OP.

 

On a seperate note, you seem like an overly angry person, fyi :/

I'm all for harder zombies. What I'm not all for:

  • Zombies that spawn out of thin air (DayZ strives for realism in most every way. This seems counter-productive. At least add some corpses here and there that might rise up if disturbed)
  • I totally agree with you here, this is what needs to be worked on, but as they said in the patch notes, the system they use now for respawns, won't be a permanent mechanic.
  • Zombies can still walk through walls (Combined with a potentially infinite spawn rate, this is bad design regardless of whether or not they have finally assigned a team to this specific issue)
  • I also agree, this is a big thing, I try to write it off as their "breaking" through the walls/doors which have degraded since the outbreak began, and no one maintained the buildings.
  • Zombies will now follow you up most sets of stairs, physically blocking you in a hallway leaving you to wrestle with the newly implemented even clunkier melee system
  • I have no problem with this happening, yeah the melee part is bothersom, and trying to melee inside rooms and tight spaces is a pain, I like that your not safe just by going upstairs...
  • Zombies will also spawn when melee weapons are used, not just guns. (I was forced to contend with a dozen or more zombies simply wielding my axe in Balota earlier. They just kept coming)
  • Now I have ran into my fair share of Zombies, but I have never ran into that many, lol... I have noticed less do spawn if I use my axe, and I never loiter around, I run in and run out fast.

I'd rather they be faster or hit harder than the current implementation. I really like the idea of zombie hordes, I've even suggested it here before. At this point though, I rescind that statement. :3

Those pistols and the .22 sporter rifle are shit without a few mags. Remember that next time before you fire one. Best off using an fire axe untill you find a few of the pistol mags next time.

 

FNX is still one shot one kill on body so go with that gun when you see it and the mags.

See the thing that I do not understand is that, zombies have always had poor AI, they have always been able to walk through walls/doors and get to you inside buildings...

But now that they respawn, and pose a threat to people, now people are posting threads about how poorly designed the zombies are, and their pathing sucks, ect.

What's wrong? You all don't like having zombies being able to close in on you while you snipe bambies from sniper hill, or what?

Maybe now instead of carelessly firing off your guns at people and zombies, you'll put more effort and thought into your actions and maybe interact with those who you previously gunned down for no good reason?

 

Ohh and to the guy who keeps going on about the zombies aggroing from 500m away, you know what, sound travels, those zombies shrieking and you hitting them with an axe will draw the attention from a considerable distance, not to mention if your just firing your gun off for target practice, honestly, a bit of fine tuning with these zombies pathing issues and they will be fine.

I understand, the pathing needs drastic work, and I am sure they are working on getting a fix for it.

 

As far as "Invisible" zombies, this has more to do with the desync/lag issue we're facing post-patch, where you'll be running around not able to access any of your items. or open doors. ect. hear a bunch of zombies and BLAM all the sudden your bleeding like crazy and have to scramble to find a safer location to bandage.

actualy today i had zeds sprinting faster than me and my brother we had to stop and axe them down

in last nights patchs they made the zeds a hell of alot faster

I think harder Zeds brings more reality to PvP playing.

If PvP encounters involve small number of players, they will likely have more friendly interactions because of the Zombie threat. PvP battle will exist only between larger group of players, say clans etc.

This supposedly realistic scene is seen in the Walking Dead.

 

Devs get the general direction right, they just have to fix the glitches and stuff.
