This game needs a lever-action rifle!

Recommended Posts

Some .357 lever-action would be the coolest fucking thing on this game!

Ya, it would be awesome, they should be relatively moderate in power, and be somewhat common...

Good for hunting animals, not players.

if it's an American weapon, the game doesn't need it at all

Only americans love lever actions...Europeans didn't like them because it was crappy to recock when shooting in prone or out of trenches which they did a lot during their wars and reloading was a hassle. Not that the lever action was crap, you could recock faster than a bolt action rifle when you had space underneath it and you usually had it when you were riding on a horse. That's one reason it never made a breakthrough on this side of the pond.

The rifle in that video is Brazilian, and also like Elle said, Chinese make a lot of them too. M4A1 is also an American weapon :D

Beans to this. The more "analog" guns would fit the game/theme really well. I'm also all for crappy guns that jam all the time etc., and making proper/pristine guns very rare (it's planned to be this way I think). Would be hilarious to see people fight desperately with lousy guns, farmer shotguns and the like, and then resort to melee after their guns fail :)

I'd like to see this too. And also a very basic one-shot hunting rifle to spawn in small cottages. I hate how this game has M4A1. It's American weapon, not Russian, and too hi-tech for this type of game...

Didn't CZ make a bolt action .357 and .44 for a few years? That might make more sense, and I would love to be able to carry a rifle that uses the same ammo as my pistol to save inventory space.

What do you mean "high-tech"? What are we, hunter-gatherers from 8,000 years ago? Yeah, society has collapsed, but modernization and globalization are pretty much everywhere nowadays. Post-Soviet countries are not limited to Russian-based items or equipment anymore and many have chosen to adopt western as well as eastern weaponry (the Czech Republic, for instance).

I don't know why people think that we would all go back to using sharpened sticks, bows and random blunt objects after an apocalypse, modern tech still exists and is much more prevalent then all of the others.

In fact, you'd probably see more guns than bows and improvised weapons pretty much everywhere, obviously the game can't completely follow that so that it gives said weapons a purpose, but it would take a while before gun usage would die down, and that assumes no one has set up places where new guns and bullets can be made.

I own 2 lever actions.  A mare's leg in .45LC and a "Tactical" Mossberg 464SPX.  Both of which I love.  Both can be unloaded in a few seconds and both (especially the .30-.30)  will put a nice hole through you and your buddy.

marlin 336 for the win. heck marlins guide gun would be interesting and perfect for hunting and the 45/70 would be great for combat

Winchester 1895 would do the job pretty well.

They were sold to the UdSSR in early 1900, AFAIK.

Use the same ammo as Mosin.

Could be sawn off without damaging the magazine.

Classic.  My mare's leg I believe is actually compatible with that rifle's stock.  It's only one screw, too.  They could have a sawn-off lever action "Mare's Leg" and make the buttstock an interchangeable item.  You could have the 12" barrel with sawn-off buttstock that you can toss in a bucket holster or in a bag or throw on a full-sized buttstock for a little extra stability.

Darn tootin'!  If you don't like leverguns, yer a commie!

I kid, I kid.  The thing is, lever-actions are so widespread and are such a popular weapon that you can find them anywhere.  I have even found some in Afghanistan!

Any idea what kind? Chernarus borders a country called Takistan, which resembles Afghanistan, so it wouldn't be too far fetched to find lever actions then.

The USSR gave away their special version of the Winchester to various European countries after WW1; Chernarus could be one of these.

Besides, the Winchester was a favorite among many players in the mod and chose it over modern military guns (myself included).

Not a fan of lever-actions in DayZ but popular demand means there probably will be one, in that case the only logical choice is a .357.

I believe it was a knock-off enfield or something along those lines.  It was a forgery, but it was still there.

That would be good but it would also leave you vulnerable if you spend all rounds. A backup with another caliber keeps you more safe in this case even if you have to carry another type of ammo. It was a survival tip not to match weapons in DayZ but to make use of everything you had especially if you were in a group. Imagine a group of five where three had .357 revolvers and no ammo and they found one magazine or let's say for SA purposes only one round and you find a box of 9x18mm and threw away those makarovs with a mag each you found half an hour earlier?
