Mouse acceleration and player control

"We have been changing the way the player controls their character to improve playability. There was an issue with mouse control that affected many users of high DPI mice which we have now fixed. Changes to character turning should now also be consistent with how freelook works, which was taken from ArmA3. So we hope that this will improve the situation for players although we have more work planned on this."

 

 

i cant describe how gutted i was when i logged on with the latest build. many of us have been asking for you to give a option to turn off mouse acceleration and what do the Devs do ? make it even worse ! :o

 

i cant get why you cant see how people don't want it ! adding acceleration just makes aiming harder and in some cases feel sick queezy when looking around. have you added made it worse to try and cover lag / low fps in places so it seems smoother ?

 

any player of games will tell you for accurate movement with a mouse you turn off mouse acceleration. you want one to one movement. not additions .

 

please , just give a option to turn it off. what makes it worse is you say its from arma 3 yet all the mods and arma 3 i have played its nothing like this acceleration. it doesn't work it makes the game worse almost unplayable. if you arnt giving a option could i be refunded please cause i cant play the game with it on. that is not a plea for my money back its a plea to remove the feature as you may call it that makes me not be able to play anymore. its that bad !

 

people dont want a free look this and that they want simple look around simplest way. too many on paper ideas ruining simplistic what works.

 

when thinking of adding or tweaking stuff look at it through a players eyes not a Devs that would be cool.

This is known...they know it's a problem, but it's apparently not easy to fix or just add a button to turn it of.  This is why they have said:

 

"So we hope that this will improve the situation for players although we have more work planned on this."

 

Yes, mouse accel is lame...get over it.

so no im not being a whiney bitch ! i am just stating that from what is said above today ! its like a feature they trying to add. with the current work rate not doing much and the real issue of redoing all the things to make it go away to fix it i don't want them just thinking " ah well well just say its a feature that saves us having to fix the real issue."

 

people want it fixed it isnt a feature or to aid freelook, it doesn't work. its worse than before. if they are going to add a option to turn of why say the above ?

Remove mouse acceleration, devs, immediately. There are no excuses.

You are doing the opposite of what players want.

that's not true...and only a few players don't like the way they workin on mouseacc. doesn't mean its wrong in general.

Yesterday it was possible to play on 42.116170, wich clearly had some changes in the mouse-movement, was kinda smoother feelin, take some getting used to it but felt okai.

The devs said that it was really hard to remove the acceleration, so they DO KNOW what people want it's just that it's a hard thing to do, I'm not a developer so I have no idea how hard it is, all I can do is trust them. What they're doing now is testing since the game is still a work in progress, what they say about mouse acceleration now, might not even be in the finished product. I don't play on experimental but when I play on stable I just turn it all the way down and I'm fine with how it is then. Also, you asking for a refund for something as petty as this is pretty unbelievable.

 

Out of all the posts I've seen you make the majority of them have been trash talk about the game, not even constructive criticism, proven by this post.

The dev team seems to have a lot of trouble understanding how to you know, program. Are they guessing an all of this stuff??

 

When I have a hard time doing something it's because I don't understand the tools or material. I thought this was a professional dev house?

 

Kind of odd. I think that it's awfully hard to develop with this much public exposure... But that's what they chose to do.

 

I have a feeling that with the slow dev cycle and stretched out goals, people will move on long before this is a playable game. It's only worth dabbling in at the moment. I hope they get it on track.

why do you want extra movement adding on to your natural movement ? that makes no sense . to be accurate you want the movement you actually do so it flows naturally.

Devs are pretty good at spotting double accounts... They have their ways.

guys, there is a tool for win7 which allows you to disable built in mouse acceleration. Would that help?

I know nothing about programming, but I feel like the system they have in place is a lot more complex than if they had raw input. I don't really get it either.. then again I don't get bloom, rotation blur, god rays, the eating sounds, walking up hills et cetera....

This is why I play 3rd person as it is a 3rd person shooter when it comes to controls. If it was a first person game, then the mouse controls wouldn't be so bad. Like some console port.

This is on a console which has aim assist and practically aims for you when you go over an enemy. 360 no scoping is a hell of a lot harder on PC.

nope, the mouse acceleration was added in game, it's not a windows problem.

They will not turn this into a CoD/BF/CS style shooter.  Get over it

 

Having my character do on screen what i have asked it to do with my mouse is not turning DayZ into a CoD clone. 

 

There's a tendency in this community to spout "LoL Go baek to cod noobz". I don't like it. What the OP is proposing makes sense. Having input lag ruins gameplay experience. I've been playing FPS games for over 15 years, and the thought of introducing input lag into the game, in some half hearted effort to simulate reaction times, or, to be honest, for any reason whatsoever makes my hair stand on end. I've spent alot of time playing FPS games and my reaction times and ability to land the shot are testament to this, why penalize that?
