strayshadow 81 Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) If you find servers behaving like this report them! So DayZ is DayZ, you see people and it's up to you what you do next, snog, marry, avoid etc... 'Don't kill me, I'm weapon farming' 'I love my gear too much' These servers always make me chuckle, without the constant threat of an encounter turning sour or looking out for that roaming bandit group it becomes a rather dull collect-a-thon with the occasional bopping a visually impaired zombie on the head with something heavy. I just don't get what they do next. Collect top gear and then go join a different server to kill people? Seems a bit unfair. Zombies are really not threatening right now so I don't see any point in claiming PvE. If you want to play with friendly people join a clan or trial and error with strangers you come across. Better yet, load up with gear and return to the beach with weapons, food and elusive can-openers to get new spawns started. You're playing DayZ. So play DayZ! Anyway, thoughts and flamers go ahead. 1S1K-Airborne 148 Posted March 11, 2014 Hello there No thoughts no flames, other than there are provided routes to report such servers. Rdgs LoK So people that want and pay for a PVE server, can't have it? I guess KOS is not only suggested by the dev team, it's actually enforced with getting your server shut down. Good to know. We're not buying a server or even playing this game until that changes. KOS = Valid gameplayPVE = Server shut down / ban Glad to see the dev team appreciates different play styles. Glad to see they're not favoring any one group. Oops, they are!

Oops, they are!Hello there You have your facts somewhat askew. During development at least at this stage, you are not allowed to kick other than for the rules laid down. If you do not wish to rent a server due to this kind of issue then i recommend you wait until the game is released or the rules relaxed. This is a test phase, one has to remember that. You're free to think whatever you want about KOS, you're free to play this game or not, you're free to buy a server or not, you're free to link in your signature that autoreferential thread. I got your point. All the people who read this forum on daily basis got your point. But you've to ACCEPT that you're not a dev. You're not in charge. You're just one in a million (literally) who bought this game. You don't like the game ? Don't play it and leave us in peace.

hannibaldaplaya 1095 Posted March 11, 2014 I really don't see a problem with KoS in DayZ- I have rarely encountered it, and when I have, who cares? You get to respawn and try again. Woopie fucking doo. I have mainly got shot in areas where you should be ready to get shot, such as airfields or cities like Elektro or Cherno. I mean, come on, what do you expect? Do you think everyone is super nice? I've met A LOT of nice people, but this is from my experience. ON TOPIC;Report these servers. They can't get away with this retarded KILL=BAN shit. Plus, they can only kick who they see kill. There is no kill log, so they are basically bluffing, but will probably abuse their powers.
1S1K-Airborne 148 Posted March 11, 2014 They do... it's up to the PLAYER to make those decisions. So the person PAYING for the server has no choice? <-------------I love how the NO NO NO NO NO crowd consistently misses this point So if you go to a restaurant, I get to decide what YOU order and then I eat it? strayshadow 81 Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) I didn't realize these servers were breaking the rules when I made this post originally. I was just thinking if you don't want to die but just pick stuff up why are you playing DayZ in the first place? Anyway, I know now and hopefully others who were as ignorant as me have seen this and are now also aware that these servers are on the naughty list. 1S1K-Airborne you've bought a game, games have predetermined rules. You don't pay to ride a bus then take over the drivers seat... Edited March 11, 2014 by Merry_Mac
Rauchsauger 94 Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) Report the server and be done with it. Why should he report the servers? All he has are names of the servers... If I name my server "You will suffer a stroke on join" it won't happen... There are lots of "no KOS" servers out there and if anything there are more KOS player on those servers since there is no way to enforce it... Glad to know you've got a firm grasp on how the world works! It's not that. You are being offered the right to rent a server, that is to be played, the way that the DayZ team have intended the game to played. That means that there should always be a threat of losing gear, instead of being able to passively farm and do what you like without threat. It's a part of DayZ and it always will be. To use your own anology , you can't just go to a resteraunt, wave some money in their face and start asking for food that they do not offer. It is just not how it works. Valadain 270 Posted March 11, 2014 *sigh* I think the better way to get it across is: Currently, there are no private servers for rent. The game is not at the point yet, that it can support private servers along-side the public hive. The public hive is all one play area, thus all servers must follow the same public hive rules. This is for fair game-play and makes perfect sense. Right now, you can rent a public hive server. It must follow the same rules that all public hive servers follow.
