Overheating/crash

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, i'm here bcz i'de like to ask if some of u have the same problem as me.

I play on a 2 years old asus g 53 sx (i5/gtx 560m) it's not a beast but i can play any other game with good frames thx to my low resolution 1366x7..

Dayz run between 20 to 45 fps atm on my rigs, with an average of medium settings..that's fine..BUT my games keep crashing (nvidia driver isn't answering, or game freez when i join server) and my computer is fuckin overheating. The problem is, that it's overheating ONLY on this game (made a repast and cleaned it often so..). I dont know why, any of u have the same experience?

I realy need help on this ;)

All you can do is turn the settings down, get a new machine or try a different graphics card. I don't think any one on here will be able to fix an overheating problem.

I've had a similar problems in the past and an upgrade is usually the solution.

Is the airflow in your case any good? This game is not optimized so it may run your components hot. If they are already near thermal overload then it is just pushing them over because they are already overheating slightly.

Check your thermal repaste job. Did it cover fully? Did you properly clean the old paste off first? Did you also do the same to your CPU?

Might just be that your older components are nearing their lifecycle end physically and are not able to take the same heat they once could or do with other applications.

Did you clean your PC out? Are all the fans working on your CPU/GPU? Do you have any external case fans? What are your temps?

Like saints row this game is a killer on my GPU's. I run SLI 660ti's and when I play DayZ, just like in saints row 4 my computer is screaming at me with the fans going full blast and my temperature at a solid 75 Celsius. You need to put your laptop under load while playing dayz then open task manager, go to performance and check if its your RAM, CPU or GPU thats overheating.DayZ and Saints Row 4 are the only games that do this to my PC.

he said directly in his post that he cleans it often.

by the way the pc he is listing above is a laptop. Chances are it has a fan mounted for a side port to vent heat.

Makes me wonder if it has ever been blown out completely the right way.

Have you set any launch parameters in Steam regarding vram and cpu core count or threads?

I am running the game on a Sager 9150 Laptop (gtx680m, i7 2760qm) and ran into some heat issues as well in the past.. up to the point that my laptop would shut itself off during gameplay. My system is also well maintained and doesn't have any issues with other games..

After removing the launch option parameters I never had any problems again..

You might also want to consider using tools like Speedfan to monitor temperatures.

Find an application that allows you to manually set your laptop's fan speeds. Set fans to 100% before you start gaming. Use headphones.

Default fan profile on laptops is to run silent until it's red hot and then spool up the fans hoping that the load was temporary.

When you have sustained 100% load on CPU and GPU, the cooling solution on anything but a dedicated gaming laptop (which is an oxymoron in my book) can't cope.

CPU and GPU start throttling, but quickly reach thermal cut-off threshold and shutdown.

This game is pretty CPU intensive. Either buy a new system (if only it were that easy ;) ) or wait for some optimizations, though, judging by ARMA 2 and ToH, the engine will always be CPU intensive.

The g 53sx is a gaming laptop, and i run dayz on the gaming mode ( the two fan are 100% on), and i'm even using a cooler..It has been clean and repast by myself and by my brother who is working for clevo. The computer is on a perfect condition..

I play to dota 2 (max settings) arma 2, coh2 (at low settings ^^) crysis 1/2/3; bf3, ac 4,the witcher 2, TESO etc without having any heat issue..but as soon as i launch dayz, it's hell under the keyboard.

If only it was dust...

If your convinced it's a heating issue and you have checked all the heat sink fins under the fans for dust then like the guys have said u might need to freshen up your heat compound, do you monitor your GPU & CPU temps at all ? if so might be worth reporting them area.

As a quick test have you tried running the game with the case open ?

Just tested temp, on arma 2 with high settings it's more or less 60° max on the cpu and gpu, on dayz it goes up to 80..

Cheap solution that may help is a laptop cooler ( something like this ) amusing your not already using one,

Other that if you have already opened the case and cleaned all the heat sinks properly as someone above suggested turn you graphics down.

I personally think PC gaming on laptops is always going to be problematic and would avoid it.

It's not the point, i was just asking why, dayz is the ONLY game that push my computer in hell. Even with everything on very low and 83% resolution it stills overheats my computer...
