Zjasuu 337 Posted February 18, 2014 (edited) I made a thread about random events, but this idea I like so much that I'm going to give it it's own thread. And I am not talking about houses where you are invulnerable. Since there are many villages in the game that are too small to get decent loot from and are pretty much just there to fill up the map space and there's nothing special about them. Here is where my suggestion of safe houses come into play. Every building in the game would have a small chance to "spawn" as a fallen safe house upon server restarts. The windows would be boarded shut, the door should be locked and you would need a crowbar to break in and it would be swarmed by zombies. In order to make players look for these safe houses the loot in them should be very rare, hard to obtain and useful. Also things like food, water and medicine should spawn in them in big amounts. The houses could look like something like this: BTW there should be no NPC's Edited February 19, 2014 by Zjasuu
Nicko2580 398 Posted February 18, 2014 Yep, down for that... Not sure I agree with the loot being really rare though. I don't think that fits with a civilian safehouse. I think they should just be good caches for food/ammo/water and medicine with some regular weapons like shotguns, pistols and blaze 95's. Maybe a very, very rare M4 or other military loot. I don't like the idea of military loot inside since it's a civilian building, but some kind of end game gear would make it a good place to go when you already have "everything". Damnyourdeadman 1045 Posted February 18, 2014 (edited) The virus must have been very contagious.I think most people would try to run to safety, other than trying to barricade their homes. If the virus had 95% leathality, there would be almost noone left to put up those boards.Still...it is a preety nice detail and adding to the wholeApocalypse atmosphere :) Edit:Scratch the above part,i'm an idiot and i didn't read that you suggest to ake them extremly rare.I like your idea and would be nice to see it ingame. akafugitive 244 Posted February 19, 2014 Some would have gone to ground not knowing they were infected though and become mindless after they boarded themselves into structures like this though

Romzzy 4 Posted February 19, 2014 yep i agree this is a cool idea, but the devs need to make it that there are tones of zombies around that house and something you cant go into solo

thedogfoodyayho 295 Posted February 23, 2014 (edited) +1 Although not that much military loot.I'de guess these would be "Preppers" homes. There would be tons of food, water, medicine, military backpacks and some military clothing, maps, compasses, and atleast 2 civilian rifles, like Shotguns, mosins abd Blazers, and a few military weapons, mostly FNXs and EXTREMELY rarely M4s, but insain amounts of ammo for all weapons. There should also be some rare items that are considered a luxury, like Blood-test kits, water purification tablets and antibiotics. And tons of radios. Edited February 23, 2014 by thedogfoodyayho

So there should be a good amount of food there.

liquidcactus 719 Posted March 4, 2014 nice idea... but the safe house should be rare them selves i think.. maybe say 5 on the map at once... no rare loot tho.. maybe a rare chance of common loot being in abundance.. you know a few bandages, compass waterbottles.. good idea surprised its never popped in to my head
bobotype3334 160 Posted March 4, 2014 I just can't see [sorry if this sounds douchey] how the house owners happened to lock the doors to their super duper safehouses all at the same time, while leaving all the good stuff in there, and all 5 of them left fully stocked safehouses to either die out in the open [while having perfectly good food and weapons within the safehouse]. How did they get in and out past the crowd of zombies? If they didn't, and were turned, zombified, just outside, why and how would they lock the door again? And why did they all manage to do it at the same time, deserting their Fortresses of Solitude with fine supplies for the zombie infested areas? If they were planning to leave the safehouse and get out of dodge, they would take the stuff with them and probably not bother locking the door.I like this idea, and boarding makes sense, but if we're going to have that then we need more doors ripped from their hinges.
