randalmcdaniels 62 Posted February 17, 2014 (edited) Too many fanboys.. Yeah its sold millions of copies but look at the server populations nowadays, At the beggining they were all maxxed out and now they all have 1-3 players max.. Nobody is playign it. There were only two servers today with more than 20 players.. "this formula has created one of the most successful games on steam" The fact of the matter is that people just like the idea and trend of dayz.. Nobody actually enjoys playing it Edited February 17, 2014 by randalmcdaniels

Nobody actually enjoys playing it When a game is first released, everyone who bought it plays it right away. Because its new, they can play it more than other games. When it becomes no longer new, they play it as much, more, or less than their other games based on what they prefer. I can't even tell you how derpy your logic is.

Window Licker 504 Posted February 17, 2014 ohh no guys, it's okay I can understand why he's trolling now, Game is so stiff and unplayable its not even funny. I had an M4 with 30 rounds and some unarmed noob player was just running straight at me on the street, i fired and hit him in the head/chest/neck area with every round and before he even gets 15ft within my proximity my screen starts flashing grey because he is hitting me apparently. I quickly go to switch to my pistol and its just a NIGHTMARE. Just pressing the number 2 with no luck, than double tapping 2 to take out my pistol, my char finally selects pistol but nothing shows in his hands, i press F and he just holsters the pistol over his shoulder.. Than after 20 seconds of trying to take out my pistol with no luck, i say screw it and go to press 3 to take out knife and he just lifts up his fists..TERRIBLE. Im sorry but this is absurd. A game thats been in development for 2yrs should not have such rudimentary issues. It would be easier to control a helicopter your first time than to figure out how to control yoru characrter in dayz.. Laugh all you want but at least in that AWFUL game warz you can actually control your character. I wouldn't reccomend buying dayz until at least 9yrs from now, by then you might even be able to take out your weapon..He died and is butthurt
randalmcdaniels 62 Posted February 17, 2014 I would bet money on the fact that i have put more time into dayz mod and standalone than most of the posters on this topic.. Any experienced players know which buildings are worth entering and which arent. And thats the fail formula i am talking about. In a real life apocalypse you wouldnt have psychic people running around already KNOWING which houses/buildings had loot in them without even checking.. The formula should be random like real life
stc105 14 Posted February 17, 2014 OP is forgetting one thing! DayZ is not only a survival game, but a walking simulator. As a walking simulator it rocks! All that empty space and neat looking towns. Better stock up before going on your hike, you might get hungry ;) Honestly, the zombies, looting, and PvP are just a backdrop to the true meaning of this game: walking. Though, I guess when they add vehicles it will be a walking/driving simulator. Don't believe me, check out the tags the devs used on the steam page: http://store.steampowered.com/app/221100/

Nicko2580 398 Posted February 17, 2014 lol Alpha. Plus, I don't mind hiking. I've been hiking for a while now and it's still fun, never knowing what I'm going to find up in the hills. And I've found some pretty cool shit in small towns and farms so far.

Symbiont (DayZ) 4 Posted February 17, 2014 (edited) Random item spawns everytime server restarts./thread It's not random enough to make that a blanket defense. Every server restart there is at least 1 gun, most likely two..on the same set of shelves in the same 2nd floor room in the Police Station in Svetlojarsk. Also, the beige building behind the church in Svetlojarsk that has the piano in the lobby, again - gun almost always on the shelf. And I can go on and on. As a fresh spawn, I take the extra time (20-25minutes sometimes) just to run all the way up there - since it's almost guaranteed I'm going to leave everytime fully geared. And I've made that trip enough times to be confident in it. Edited February 17, 2014 by Symbiont
Window Licker 504 Posted February 17, 2014 Yes it's not random now, but it's going to be randomized shortly.
blissfulkunt 196 Posted February 17, 2014 I say we all stop posting on the OP topics, Its annoying too see posts like this at the top, clearly 9/10 people do not agree with the OP and as somebody said before he is just extremely butt-hurt from a death. Lets just let this slide to the graveyard so we can talk about things that actually matter.
randalmcdaniels 62 Posted February 17, 2014 (edited) Pshh if i hear that word alpha one more time im gonna vomit.. 2 years dayz has been in development (supposedly.. although i havent seen any developing).. Dayz was originally supposed to come out in december of LAST year, and no not 2013.. 2012. So keep playing the "its alpha" card its just funny. The fact of the matter is that dean hall through all his sucess so far STILL has not even used a single cent to hire or create a developing team.. He has two or three dayz developer buddies who are the only ones who are actual developers and are responsible for everything we know as "dayz" today (a motorcycle helmet and monkeywrench) and yet he still refuses to ever give any public credit to those guys.. He always goes to press conferences or events like E3 all by himself just standign there all awkwardly.. You will never hear him publicly say dayz is developed by anyone else but himself.. Dean hall is not even a game developer, he has no experience in developing games or has ever belonged to a game company.. He simply made a mod for a game like any 12yr old today can do..Ask dean hall what programming languages he is certified in or ask him to show you videos of him writing code.. He can't.. He is not a developer. And yet he writes "created by dean hall" on the main menu screen of the game.. Who does that? seriously..Do you guys have any idea how many people it takes to create a game? Hundreds.. For him to think dayz is all just him is just borderline mental. But yeah the top selling game on steam for months and he still hasnt put together a developing team.. Even indie dev teams have their own company and name..Whats the name of dean halls game company huh? Whats it called? Dean hall? he writes created by dean hall on the main menu of the game.. It is published by bohemia interactive yes but bohemia interactive works on arma. Not dayz. But if he can brag about how much of a sucess dayz is than why cant he hire half a dozen developers to make a gaming company and get the ball rolling? He has all this money now and still chooses not to make his own company?? wow enjoy your next 8yrs of continuing to call this game alpha. When you really think about it dayz started out as a 4mb file that just replaced arma2's soldier AI with a zombie skin and BAM you call it dayz and it blows up into a huge hit.. Its really just a gimmick at the end of the day. So fanboy all you want but the joke is on you. If any game is a ripoff or capitolizing on someone elses work its dayz. You guys don't love dayz.. You love arma2. You are just too stupid to realize it. Edited February 17, 2014 by randalmcdaniels

attackm0de 38 Posted February 17, 2014 Venturing into the bigger hotsopts is suicide in its self and too much of a risk. I spawn, I run into the wilderness and out to the NW where I know the layout of the land and understand where my best options are. I am able to make my characters last for weeks (50+ hrs) this way and don't intend on changing it.

St. Jimmy 1631 Posted February 17, 2014 (edited) Am I playing the game wrong if I like to go through every building and take all the food with me? Gun is just a secondary thing in DayZ because you can kill the zombies with melee without getting hit. Every building is worth of visit except those that have loot bugged. It was different thing in the mod. Those who like to be only in the hot spots are missing the eauty of the DayZ but those guys won't make this formula to fail. dallas 5195 Posted February 17, 2014 (edited) I've played some $60 titles less than I've played the Standalone. Plus the DayZ mod revived a game I bought in 2009 and extended my playtime by 500 hours for free. Some might say I owe BI money.
