I'd love to see some AKMS/AKS-74 variants in the game. The Chernarussian Defense Force used both, to varying degrees (the latter by militia, the former by squad leaders). If it had an actual folding stock, I would be so giddy. As a matter of fact, we need more Chernarussian Defense Force equipment. I'm getting VERY tired of all the Western gear, and it doesn't help that the devs seem sort of non-partial to it. We need a TTSKO helmet cover, we need the flak jackets and chest rigs! Anyone else agree?

I agree. With all the present western gear we have, we might as well add an M1 Garand or a Henry Golden Boy

Haha, I'm sorry. Have you fired an assault rifle with the stock folded? It's hilarious. If you ever get the chance to try it I warmly recommend it. Especially full auto bursts. xD

I'd imagine it'd be useful in close quarters, where recoil doesn't really matter.

 

Plus, I just thought it'd be a cool and authentic feature.

I just don't understand the path they are taking with these firearms... hate the fact that are remaining them to useless fake names such as the "Sporter 22"even if that is a nickname for it, just call it a Ruger 10/22 for gods sakes.. I'm done with my rant now, carry on.

Copyright issues. They can't call the Ruger 10/22 by its actual name because DayZ Standalone is an actual game made for profit, so Ruger could easily sue them. They could definitely buy the rights to use the trademark, but it would be expensive considering the vast amount of manufacturers they have and the oddity of having certain guns with real names and certain ones without (Not every company will say yes to using their licensing just because they're asked)

 

The Contender isn't even a bad weapon. A lot of people have been asking for a single-shot weapon, and there aren't a whole ton of them that make any remote degree of sense. Sure, you probably won't find a lot of them in Chernarus, but you wouldn't find that many other single-shot weapons, either.

Gotta relax man, we're going to get an AKM soon, and the AK-74 eventually. We already have the Mosin-Nagant M1891/30, SKS & IZH-43. Additionally, the Ruger 10/22, M4A1 & soon-to-come P-1, MP5K & Remington 870 definitely fit the scenario. I will admit that their pistol choice was kind of weird (Colt Pythons, Kimber 1911s, AWC Amphibian S, and the CZ-75 SP-01 SHADOW) and the B95 is also somewhat out of place, but those aren't the entire weapons set.

Hell, a regular CZ-75, Ruger MKII & 1911 would also be fine, so you'd really have to look at it from a fiction standpoint where the exact weapon variations aren't going to be perfect.

 

The alpha isn't meant to be the point of the game where the weapons set is accurate or complete, it's where the devs add new weapons to test them and see how they work out in gameplay.

I really would want to see the AUG-1 or 2 ingame. Would be nice to run around with an weapon made from my country. Or may a Glock 17 or something. Not 18 though, with it's full-automatic fire.

 

If I can make a suggestion about civil-weapons: Why not the flobert rifle?

One of the onliest licence-free weapons here in austria, also loads with .22 Ammunition. My grandfather used to put down his pigs with this one. Would be one of the weakest weapons ingame though, since you need to put someone that gun into his/her face to make serious damage to it.

It would be nice to have such a feature, but even when spraying to for example clear a room you'll want to keep the butt stock against your hip for control. But I get what you're saying. I'm not against it really, but if they were to implement something like that it should make it almost impossible to hit stuff with it folded. The reasons for having a foldable butt stock is if you're airdropping by parachute or landing by heli, either jumping out of it or rapelling down, or if you for some reason try to hide your weapon underneath a coat. Cons are that you can't really aim, because you have to put the actual rifle in front of your face, and the recoil might smash you in the face. So basically the weapon is pretty much impossible to control with it folded.

 

But perhaps folding the butt stock and removing the magazine would allow for an assault rifle to be stowed in a backpack?

 

Maybe there can be other uses for such a feature too?

Just for the sake of i want one and it's been around since the Python.

 

Smith and Wesson M29 44 magnum. 6 inch barrel, wood grips, blued finish.

It was a popular revolver in the 70s for one reason. Dirty Harry. It has remained a popular revolver to this day for the same reason and the fact that the cartridge and it's reliability make it good for metallic Silhouette shooting, which is popular the world over. It is not unreasonable that after Chernarus became non-soviet these were imported along with the pythons (another popular revolver) after people saw some western movies and wanted one.

 

Also there are alot of 44 magnums around the world sitting in safes next to boxes of ammo only missing 6 rounds. Many people couldn't handle it but kept the gun.

I really want to see weapons spawn the same, enough for people to get weapons to defend themselves, but not enough so that you can loot up in 5 minutes. Any less and people with gear would kill everyone really easily, any more and it's not a challenge

Before you guys start giving every gun the same ammo types. I don't want to see a Winchester with 7. whatever ammo or 9mm in it lol. Unless its some kind of customized crafted model.

 

These guns are would be good for semi civi/police loot spots too.

I actually may be returning to Dayz.. its starting to look good. Although I do not agree with some weapon choice, the game has other features that I like. Only problem I have is that the map is only confined to Chernarus.. and I know it is alpha, but I just am hoping for snowy, or swampy, etc enviorment. God Bless!
