Fix shoutgun ranges

Recommended Posts

It may be your snap shells? They have much less damage, it is a bug.

Hopefully the range will be extended anyway, they are like battlefield shotguns at the moment, snap shells are COD shotguns.

Atleast the knife isn't better than the shotguns though.

But knife should have a stab option and generally cause more bleeding damage.

I was reading the speedloader are buged. Don`t use them.

Test the gun without them.

Wow.

They messed up the ballistics again, they gave the speedloader pellets a muzzle velocity of 260 m/s, that means it's only doing 29% of the damage it's supposed to, since they set up the pellets for ridiculous 900 m/s velocities. The 260 m/s is a copy-paste from the FNX45. Without using the 2-round speedloader the pellets should go the full, physically-impossible 900 m/s.

It's clear whoever typed those values in either [a] didn't take proper care or isn't aware of how to properly set up ammo and magazine config. I'm surprised because BIS should know this stuff by heart, they made the whole thing in the first place...

So there's your answer it would seem. Don't use the speedloaders, it appears they reduce the pellet damage by 71%.

Haven't tried slugs yet, how are they? (found tons of them before shotguns were added, now I've only come across pellets) As for buckshot, it seems to drop zombies at 50 yards but I've not yet tried it on a person.

Shotguns are far more effective even at range than you would think if you have only ever learned about them in video games. Before posting something like this, go out and shoot one... get a feel for it. If you can't do that, at least research it. I'm willing to bet that you did neither of these before rage posting, which itself should not be done as it does not add to a discussion and serves no purpose... Someone should repost this with only those posts who actually add to the topic...

Could you at least make these rage posts on the correct place? (Bug tracker)

That, and add info on why the shotgun ranges need a fix, and please don't just say "Cuz it's broken.".

Not because is a shotgun its going to be very short range, A shotgun with slug shots can travel around 20-30 meters

They'll actually "travel" well over 1,000 yards...

The shotgun in-game wouldn't have a long effective range, not at all. It would be terrible with slugs. One, it's a side-by-side. Two, it has a bead. Both of these facts don't come into play in the game - it's treated as having one barrel and there's no need to correctly line up front and rear sights, that's automatic.

Killed a zombie at 20+ metres, I saw about two pellets hit him with a spread bigger than the zeds height.

Full version seems alright to me.

Sawwed off might have silly spread values.

Bead sight is not really relevant, I've family members that hunt deer with the same Mossberg 500 they hunt geese with. I'm not one for hunting, but they take Whitetail with 12GA and 20GA standard 1oz rifled slugs and bead sights at 100 yards or so. Any longer than that, and you really should be using a rifle anyway, pick the right tool for the job.
