Rocket answers to everyone who complains about 3D view

Recommended Posts

I like the HC sub-hive. I really do. BUT...

If it was up to me, i would totaly disable 3rd person only to fuck with the majority of easy runners of the community. Playing in third person is weak and pathetic. We have a game here that it's about survival. And when it comes to survival sometimes you have to kill. And by being in multiplayer it's PVP, hell of a lot of PVP. And i like it. But hell, when i know that there is a little sissy sitting on top of a building-behind a wall- behind a window, safe and sound, scouting like a boss with third person, it pisses me off.

It breaks my immersion, the feeling of realism and the serious manner of having a firefight.

And one more reason to disable 3rd person, alot of kiddies go away. With ease. Done

I just fucked mustys teamspeak to write this shit.

Shit

Yeah...that's a really great idea...really...great.,

Conclusion from this entire thread:

FPfanboys want it their way or no way at all

3PP really dont give a crap because we will always have populated servers B)

I really don't understand this entire discussion. You have an option to play FP only servers so why do you keep complaining?

They said this game will not attract cod people. They were wrong.

Hoping this game would stay niche was wishful thinking. You have to appeal to the mainstream casual gamer I guess.

But now they have to balance and develop separately for two different modes so let's hope they do not mess that up.

Veteran players still prefer having both options it is not selling out when the majority of the veteran and newer player base values the power of choice. If choice is mainstream then please make it mainstream because this game should be focused around choices as it was even in the mod. There was and is a reason players enjoy and populate servers that allow both views and that is because it is more appealing to gamers at large. I sort of challenge people to debate against the biggest games in history that were both played competitively and casual that allowed perspective choices. We have had two separate modes since the mod and it should be straight forward in how to go about this. It is basically up to server admins ticking off things they like or dislike.

I will keep that in mind next time someone tells someone else to "go back to cod" because he suggested something unrealistic.

Also, could you name the biggest games in competitive history that were 3rd person.

It is rather amusing how many "veterans" defend 3PP with tooth and nail, even though in the history of FPS gaming 3PP is a universal signifier of the more arcady side of that genre.

I'm confused by the argument that 1PP-only people have. If you want everyone on the same equal footing then having two hives makes perfect sense. If everyone on 3PP servers have the option and is willing to use it exactly as it is, then there is no exploit. I think the issue is that the 1PP will have less players than those that 3PP will have, and rather than face the prospect of having to join a 3PP server for interaction, they'd rather force everyone to use 1PP, under the guise of it being more "realistic".

Either way, I prefer 3PP just because it makes playing the game more comfortable for me. I really don't care that people can see me when I can't see them, because I know if I'm cautious,I can keep out of their site, and get eyes on them first.

See I don't judge.

I think maybe separate Hives will work, just like Dslyxhisgy's videos can encourage people to check out the 1PP experience. I joined a 1PP yesterday and actually had some hours of fun. I have to say, it's nice to be able to have two active characters, even if it kind of undermines the fear of permadeath.

I can enjoy playing on a 1PP server and then I can go back to enjoying myself on 3PP server.

Having fun is enough for me.

I don't need to dictate how others enjoy themselves within established parameters of DayZ. I don't like bandits, but that doesn't mean I want friendlies to congregate on PvE servers, where the only challenge is, who gets first in line to loot the military spawns. I don't like KOS, but without KOS, player encounters wouldn't be filled with fear and paranoia.

When I play on 3PP servers, I know I'm easier detectable from a futher distance, than in 1PP, so I take that into consideration. I also know that roof top snipers are stuck in a static position and know how to out-maneuver someone stuck on a roof. Keeping a speedy pace and choosing your access routes is everything. If you're standing still in an exposed position, it really doesn't matter if you're in 1PP and 3PP.

Problem is OFP or ArmA isn't hardcore simulation, it's not even a first person shooter.

It can be.

You can enforce certain difficulty levels, you can download realism modifications for your server. It can be as hardcore as the individual desire, but ArmA/OFP was never designed to be played in one single way.

It can be a first person shooter.

But I can also be everything else. ArmA and OFP were also third person shooters or RTS, when you lead infantry or mechanized groups.

And because ArmA and OFP isn't designed with one single game mode in mind, the compromises it was forced to make to cover all aspects of the engine, means that ArmA and OFP isn't a 100% perfect first person shooter experience.

Good man rocket.....stick to your 2 guns :)

Even give them a little ego stroke by calling it hardcore :)

Playing 1st is basically saying you dont want the possibility for someone to see you without you seeing them (which is very possible IRL), then you are making the game EASIER on yourself....not harder. But you all keep thinking its "hardcore" and the most of us will just use this feature as intended. To immerse ourselfs in the world, and compensate for things first simply cannot simulate. Also knowing we have another challenge in the game world to deal with that you all just ran away from :P

There is no deviding the dev team at the moment, the only difference is a binary number changed to dissable 3rd. Yes going to take a lot of devs a lot of time to switch that....its really gonna hurt development speed.

Where....anywhere....does Dayz claim to be a competitive fps game. Its so much more than that, but i feel the 1st only brigade can only see it as counterstrike with loot :(

This is also a very valid reason, as to why it simply cant be removed like that.

We need both, but we need to divide it aswell, so people can do what ever they want, and be sure that others on the server, have the same "options" as them tbh.

The nausea would be helped if we could turn off head-bob. Same reason I can't play Borderlands for more than 5 minutes without wanting to throw up.

Head bob should stay but it should be reduced somewhat.

Sucks you get motion sickness try raising the fov playing in fpv only is a sublime experience really makes dayz better.

I wonder how many of the 1st person fanatics have an Occulus Rift or multiple monitors? Neither 1st or 3rd person are entirely realistic. Let people play the way they want to play.

People mad about people using 3rd person view to "eexploit " even though it isn't an exploit. Just the way it is.

People then complain and talk shit when they have separate hives released got 1st person only.

I just don't understand sometimes.

I think that was His own way of saying that it is not realistic to be playing a "zombie" game set in Europe though a computer monitor and that 3rd person makes it feel fake or unreal lol

Realism aspect should not even be looked at.

Like with all features in a game we have to see how game breaking something is.

TPV is in every sense of the word game breaking it reduces any pvp encounter into an idiotic stalemate where one waits for the other to leave cover and using tpv can see and get the drop on them or it leads to people camping roofs or buildings to kill unsuspecting players.

Bottom line: If you have a problem with third person, you have a problem with the Real Virtuality engine.

LOL that is one of the most short sighted non sensical things i have ever EVER had the dis pleasure to read. Many people have a problem with 1 aspect of any game and it no way relates to having a problem with the engine.

I enjoy playing on harddcore servers honestly i am happy leaving you guys to it  but some of the pure drivel that comes out of peoples mouths amazes me...

EDIT and that goes for both sides of the fence 1st and 3rd people.

I agree. Anything you sit in front of a computer for entertainment value is not real. Not even close. The important thing and good thing is people have a choice now. I like 1st person. Do I care or does it bother me of you dont? Not at all. To each is own.

fact is:

onIy on 1st p servers you can have fair and somewhat reaIistic firefights with hide and search aspects Iike in reaI Iife. If you want see whats behind a corner you have to put your head out to take a Iook.

on 3rd p servers everyone can hide behind waIIs and corners and takeing aim on you before comming around the corner. you are not abIe to fight ppI in a fair way. defending aIways wins over attacking, even if the circumstances wouId be better for attacking retreat or fIanking.

You just sit in safe cover around a corner and wait tiII someone come in your shooting fieId without the need to reveaI yourseIf.

That are the big and important diffrences between hardcore and reguIar.

So:

Hardcore = more reaIistic firefights

ReguIar   = arcade fighting with cut out tacticaI depth and unreaIistic features (Iike see around obstacIes without exposing)

BUT 2 hives is the optimaI soIution in my eyes. so ppI which want reaI firefights go hardcore and the ppI which dont care go reguIar

Do those of us that confess to being 'hardcore' use such things as TeamSpeak or Skype?
