So why do people refuse being held up?

Recommended Posts

I try not to KoS (as mentioned here: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/164425-being-a-bandit-that-doesnt-kos-feels-good/#entry1661245) but even doing that gets you shit on. People that have either no gear, or just a melee weapon refuse to put their hands up. I tend not to try it with people with high end gear, because they'll know I'm around and usually they just sit holding down their sight, but I don't see why people are refusing to put their hands up so I can put the handcuffs on. It's either that or I kill you, so you pick what you want. I've had to kill 5 people today because they're defying my relatively friendly (for a bandit at least) request. I don't want to kill you, I want to rob you and let you live so you don't have to run back to where you were.

If it's because you don't want to feel under threat or weak, well that's pathetic. Would you honestly rather die than get held up in real life? It doesn't emotionally wreck me and irritate me, I'm just confused. I don't mind killing people if I have to, I'd just rather not if you're actually a nice-ish guy.

Most people figure they're dead either way, might as well so out swinging. Right?

I've wondered that myself. I've come across a few people and told them to put their hands up, as a precaution.

They always logout or just sit in a corner waiting for me to pop up. Which usually results in me just walking away, sighing for myself.

I dont want to rob you or kill you, I just want to make sure you dont kill me. I even tell them so while they're sitting there. Mostly not even getting a hello back lol

I don't think so, they're aware I'm not shooting them but they just run or try to kill me.

Why would anyone allow themselves to be held up in the current state of the game?

About the ONLY time I could see surrendering to a hold up at the moment is if I was up on the north west side of the map maybe near Zel. and didn't want the hassle of running back from the new spawn points.

Because some people actually run from places such as Berezino to Elektro only to get killed, whereas I'm giving them the option to live. I don't see why you'd turn it down.

Hhhmm, comply with an armed stranger and possibly die or fight back with the potential to win or flee? You weight their choices and put yourself in that position. Do you surrender?

Why would they stop and put their hands up?

So you can handcuff them, waste their time, force feed them a rotten kiwi, or inject poison into them?

All while they are running to Balota, the NE airfield, etc?

Unless you're a cute Japanese schoolgirl in thigh-highs, F off with your hands up and handcuffing. I'd rather run and take my chances. Usually, they are a shit shot and can't hit me anyways. Worst case, I spawn in a better spot and without you near me. Win win, I say.

Do you look like this? No? Then I'm running.

Hi.

I'm yet to have anyone hold me up, but going by the videos of inept bandits shooting their own team members and complaints about accuracy I've seen here, I think I would take my chances fighting as opposed to letting somebody cuff me.

I mean really, wouldn't you rather die fighting like a man instead of on your knees?

Regards.

Because most of the time I will axe the guy who try to rob me. I often die, but sometimes I end up having a rifle or mosin from their dead bodies and then I teabag them and go my ways...

Handcuff = forced buttsex

Way I see it, you get behind me, and get the advantage, you've earned your moment, I'll sit through it.

Locate them > hold up > handcuff > loot > tell how to break out/give keys > go away

Who are you going to rob in-between Berezino and Electro who actually has anything worth robbing?  Its just fresh pawns or lightly geared guys running that corridor.  Why would anyone on the coast let themselves get handcuffed and be forced rotten fruit and disinfectant only to have to deal with being sick for the next hour... better off just dying and respawning a fresh body.

So people complain about KoS yet also complain about bandits that don't KoS? Alright then.

In the game's current state, why give up your stuff or try to fight back when you can just log out and get away without a scratch?

Not that I combat log (I actually try to hold up people whenever I can) I'm just saying people can get out of any situation by logging unless you put a bullet in their skull before they even realize you're there.

Could be worse, Could try to hold up two armed dudes, manage to get one to disarm, and then the other pops out and shoots your friend, and the only reason he managed to do that is because your pistol jammed.

-Yea that can happen.

There are a lot of bandits that will kill you after taking all your stuff anyway, so the threat of death is moot. It doesn't take long to get decent stuff at the moment, so if you are on your own it's actually more entertaining starting over at this point in time.

I'd rather go down guns blazing, rather than give someone that kind of power over me!

That said, it would be interesting to see how things pan out if I surrendered.

Looks a little like a pair of transgender individuals. I'd still run

The only answer to your question is that a life has no value in the game. We ALL know not to get attached to our gear, but there is no reason to get attached to your character either.

I'd prefer to be killed then fed some rotten crap and drained of most of my blood. Save me the aggrevation.

I'd rather stick an axe in someone if that's all I have, or otherwise shoot them, than to play whatever game they think I have time for
