Don't tell him. He's going to catch a cold! Poor bastard.

You have obviously been crawling / walking through (deep) water. Nice touch, isn't it?

I would love it if we had rain and that, swimming and running through pools makes your clothes "damp". Wearing damp clothes for too long gives you a cold giving your character a coughing and/or sneezing sound effect and reduces your health slightly and making your hungry faster.

Which means we have to dry our clothes out when they are "damp" by making a fire and keeping warm (we can have camp fires and barrel fires with some fuel and wood) and staying near it to warm up and dry off.

If we ever get rain then wearing a waterproof should protect you from dampness unless you go swimming or stand in a pond/stream.

If it gets cold and we have snow, then like on Namalsk standing in a T-shirt or shirt should make you cold and you would require warm weather clothes and making fires to keep warm and sheltering indoors out of the elements.

This means we can have more warm weather clothes added and new raincoats instead of the basic multi-coloured ones so we can have military jackets too etc..

Waterproof = Gorka jackets, raincoats. Unless they're ruined.

Not waterproof = everything else. (I think... )

When it rains if you don't have a raincoat or gorka stuff it gets wet and makes you cold. This is why I don't like bomber jackets..

Many clothes might not be waterproof but they still offer some resistance (e.g. 90% in case of the bomber jacket). If you utilize cover thats usually enough to avoid any negative consequences but it takes a little more effort.

According to the DayZ Wiki Gorka Jackets aren't waterproof (I did not validate this) but offer 95% resistance instead.

I'm fairly certain that the Wellies boots and Boonie hat are waterproof; at least, I was able to run around forever in the rain and through puddles and ponds without anything even getting damp. Of course, that was about a month ago or so.

In my experience all you need is a waterproof jacket/ coat like a raincoat.

Your other clothes still get wet but your body won't get damp/soaked.

Even when you got wet and change to a raincoat you will get dry rather quick.
