I don't like what current state of player interaction has turned into

Recommended Posts

I was fully kitted out and travelling up north today, as I was running across a field with hay balls I saw another player running out of the trees towards me. I hid behind a hay ball till he got closer and I was able to see he had no weapons and was alone, ect.

I get out of cover, approach him and say hello. As I try to communicate, saying "I'm friendly, do you have a mic" ect, he puts his hands in the air, gets on his knees and proceeds to put his hand behind his head. All the while I'm saying things like "do you need anything, dude stop doing that, get up, put your hands down". Eventually he gets up off his knees starts to walk off and eventually starts to run. He never said a word and I'm left standing there wondering what the hell just happened.

It didn't use to be like this in the mod did it? It was never like this. Kos, general unfriendliness and banditry was always present in the mod but the general mood and attitudes of strangers meeting in the game was never like this.

I thought that it was going to be better than the mod, but it's just filled with mute idiots who log before you can even have any form of interaction with them

You can't blame people for playing this game the way they want to play it. And using the whole "Everyone has a KoS mentality" excuse for not being able to play the game the way YOU want to play it is really just your own personal issue.

Obviously I cannot play this game as a child character or as a zombie trying to infect newly spawned people because current mechanics do not allow for it. People complaining about player interaction or "KoS" cannot play this game trying to chat (annoy) with every single person they see without dying alot since freedom of action does not allow for it.

Really, if you want to chat with people all day, go on chat-roulette or something.

If I had to guess, it was a new player fumbling for the buttons.

The first time I ran into someone I couldn't remember the button to talk so I just started mashing buttons and then ran for it.

You should have walked behind him and executed him in the peaceful field. He would have thanked you for executing him in a beautiful place, instead of the shore.

Yup. There are a lot of players without mics. Those are the players to look out for if they've got a gun..

Could be confused, don't know the controls, don't know English, etc. You can't judge "the current state" on one single encounter...

The problem is that most have never learned to work as a team.

They have never learned to see people not as a potential threat.

They want to lead or be led.

Tbh.. Nowadays everyone has a microphone, and if you're playing DayZ - new or not - you know that you can communicate with others, and you have your microphone settings enabled/figured out.

I'm generally friendly when I encounter players. Geared or not..

BUT.. If I ask them a question from the distance, and I get no response - but they continue my direction and/or have a "I'm interested in knowing where you are" or are showing some kind of offensive attitude like drawing a gun., I will never hesitate to shoot.

The standalone is built in with the lower/raise weapon system, and it should really be used as a "I'm pointing my gun at your face", or a "Dude chill, I'm not out to get you" kinda way..

Generally alot of people are nice, but some are just playing you. That's the whole deal with DayZ. Trust noone, and stay sceptical.  :beans: And watch your back while being friendly. You never know who's lurking around the corner..

X2

The only thing someone ever says to me is "GET DOWN OR I WILL SHOOT YOU" or they say nothoing and shoot me instantly lol

I think in all my campaigns I have ran into one guy who was decent and we traded food for water etc.

Server hoppers kill me the most. There is just no defense for it. Sucks. 2-3 guys spawning instantly right next to you lol

I am fairly new to the game the first encounter I had with someone that didn't immediately kill me I pretty much had acted as a battered animal... kept my distance, then said f*ck this not taking the chances I am OUT !! And ran for it.

I've actually had more forced-roleplay encounters than I've had experiences like the OP mentioned.  Actually I've only had one encounter similar to the OPs.

Otherwise I've always talked to players, and 6 out of 7 of my most recent encounters were awesome, and ended up in everyone leaving in peace after a cool encounter.

That one out of 7 I was shot in the face, and then my buddy blew away the bandit with a .357.  Worth it :)

Maybe he didn't have a mic? Seems like you're kind of reading a bit too much into some guy basically just running past you. Christ. What do you want to do find him on Facebook and see if he's maybe feeling depressed or something?

I did that one day.

A guy with a gun came to me and I surrended (That's how you say it?), he told me to get up and asked if I needed anything.

I don't like speaking using my mic, but at least I like to reply using chat.

I understand what you mean, but you can't judge people like that, some times they are just scared.

Ive run into a couple cool people who i teamed up with temporarily, but a also ran into some KOS'rs and this group of douchebags who had me pinned in the military camp with no weapons all saying "were going to kill you, youre going to die here, blah blah) so when they approached me I b-logged.. ill admit it, if they were like "sit down and dont move" and shit i woulda let what happened happen but they were just rambling how they were going to waste me so i was like "fuck you then, we'll see who has the last laugh" n peace.

Not the coolest shit i ever did but just goes to show the kind of people who play this game...them and me included lol

the play the way you want thing either goes both ways or you pvp only people can stop using it...

i mean it makes you look so smart really....im starting to think the pvp people are the real carebears here

So far this will be my sixth day alive, I've survive 2 KoS attempts and no I don't combat log, 1 was at the ne airstrip and the 2nd one was at a military camp that is at the north, I simply avoided combat and escape since I'm traveling alone.

I'm fully geared and I'm not a KoS player, the only shot that I have made from my m4 was to a zombie testing the silencer I found.

Right now I'm heading to the coast with 2 extra filled canteen, 3 can openers, 2 maps, and 3 compass to help freshspawners...

Hopefully more mechanics become part of the game that REQUIRES cooperation. This way already formed groups have more to do, and solo people have a better chance of finding friends.

People like you are the reason i always shoot people as soon as i see them, btw you are the douchebag not them, will never understand assholes like you logging at the first sign of trouble, do you have any idea how fun it is running from cover to cover while a sniper is shooting at you and his friends are closing inn? no you don´t because you just fucking log, like the bitch you are.

Got the jump on a sniper on top of one of the apartments. I'm a terrible shot so I missed first time. Would probably have got him second time but he logged. Could have resulted in a fun little shootout. So ironic that in DayZ you can run around for hours with little player interaction, and then when action does occur some players don't even face/enjoy it - content to sit and snipe defenceless newbies.

Stop pissing your pants and telling ppl how to play. Right now your the douchbag getting angry because he didnt do what you would WANT him to do. In a game without set rules.
