What are your thoughts on camping snipers at Balota?

Sniping was a good way to farm items in the mod, it's stupid right now in the alpha. In the mod I used to make some trap, like a car in the middle of the field, and then just snipe everyone who flls for it. My "spotter" (guy with boniculars watching the area and informing me if someone's coming) would secure the area. When there was 3-4 bodies on the ground I would get up, run to the car, loot the items, remove the bodies and come back to my sniping spot. 

 

If you can loot who you sniped then it's good, but sniping just for lol is retarded.

 

Also it requires tons of items to get in the game, because sniping just for can opener and mosin ammo is stupid

All you need is a gun with two magazines and an ammo box full or half full. You don't need attachments and all of that fancy gear.

Get geared with a weapon to protect yourself, then get as far north-east as you want and pick a certain grid to loot, move to the next grid and keep stocking up on food, water and a few medical supplies.

What do you think people did in the mod? They got All Ghillied Up and grabbed the nearest AS50 or M1017 and set up camp on some high traffic area.

Yeah, you can find them all over.  Long range scope isn't even an exclusively military spawn.  You can find them in houses.

I must have had very bad luck then,because the only time i found one was at the tents in Balota.

I often see 5-10 Long Range Scopes at the NWAF Camps; be careful looting there though.

Funny I am currently searching for a long range scope too, It was so common when I was with my M4. Now that I'm actually looking for it I can't find any. I have the PU scope though and it's good I guess.

Pro-tip:  If you're searching for specific items, then leave the coast.  The loot is better and more common up north.  The coast is a noob trap.

 

 

If you don't like people camping Balota, then just don't go there.  There are a lot of other places that are FAR better for gear.

I've been up North now in SA for well over a week, and the only other person I've run into was a new spawn in Novy.

This is all hypothetical for me of course since I only go to Balota at night, and even then only if I have a firearm.

Sniping in the game is retarded. Who else but a sniper would shoot someone from a distance? Why? Because he doesn't want to be detected immediatly after the shot so he can retreat afterwards. They never go to their victim and confirm the hit. Like most of the players do when they kill a player from a distance, most don't even dare to get closer because a buddy of the victom might be near or someone else close enough might have heard the shot and if that person is stupid enough or has bad luck we hear another shot and so on...

First of all. I dont like KOS. But I have done it couple of times. Usually I only shoot if the other player is aggressive.

I have found everything there is to find. Gearing in this game isn't hard. Best place I have found is the Zelenogorsk military base for weapons, ammo, bags and etc. Town for wood and drinks. First when you spawn, find a water source. The coast is full of them. (The swamps or whatever they are) Drink till you are full and head North. Near Zeleno there is the Green Mountain where you can find another military building. From there you can go where ever you want. I stay away from airfields they don't have that good loot and someone is always camping at them. I have died dozen times and always found full gear without shooting anyone. First time I got killed when I got my first mosin and all the good gear I was upset. But then I found it was easy to get back.

My current spawn started a week ago on the pier in Balota. In full day light, triggered a zombie but managed to find an crowbar before he hurt me too bad. killed him and then snuck out through the buildings to the nw. But the whole time I was sneaking out of that area, A slow fire fight was going on at the air field.

It made it awesome to me,  I also saw 2 or 3 other bambies but they never saw me and they were heading back to the air field. 

So for me, that was very cool. I think most of the people who die there know they are taking their chances right?
