All I would love to see in this update is' date=' to add atleast 1 minute disconnect timer,so that douche bags cant D/C on you,log onto different server, move to better position, reconnect and kill you (yeah happened yesterday to me and my buddy, pisses the hell outta us).

[/quote']

Ever heard of changing positions?

It takes more than one minute to move to another server, relocate, and then switch back. By that time, you could have moved somewhere else and camped your old position. I've actually killed a few people this way.

The problem with this is that the game is incredibly immersive. So when you're playing while that disconnected from reality, you don't make plans or react most effectively in situations that have such a huge disconnect from that immersive environment. It's just not the way our brains work when we have that disconnect from reality. So sure, eventually... we'll train ourselves to always think of exploiters first at all times, if it's not fixed. But if we come to that point, the gameplay is already ruined beyond repair.

In Fallout there was a mechanic where you couldn't wait or go to sleep if there were enemies nearby. Why not implement this for D/Cers? You can't manually disconnect when there's a zombie or aggressor within a certain distance. Admittedly it doesn't stop people who Alt+F4.

This could be overcome by introducing a 2 minute timer to reconnect to the same server if you Alt+F4.

The only issue would be not being able to log out when playing with friends, but it would be possible to split up a short distance to log out. Maybe we could tag certain players as 'friendlies', which would have to be accepted by both players allowing them to log off.

Good suggestion, but a flawed idea. People would use this to detect if there are people close to them.

I think the only simple way to implement a deterrent is to have a really long egg timer appear before being able to disconnect. Leaving yourself exposed to being shot and unable to react.

The bear traps need to be pretty rare or its just gonna wreck the game.

Bug squashing is not a priority this early in a game design. Once you add any feature (regardless of how smooth and bug free the game is prior) more bugs will appear. Any feature you add will interact with (in ways you can not comprehend before hand) previous features' date=' and 95% of the time it will break quite a few other game systems. It's a pain in the ass but that is software design and engineering for you.

Rocket would actually be better off ignoring most of the bugs and if he knew his full feature set goal he would implement them all as quick as possible, while trying to keep the build stable enough to barely run. Trust me this would be a cluster fuck, I've worked on projects like that before where for the first 9-12 months the game is almost completely unplayable as a whole while the engineers try to implement all the features in the engine.

Bug squashing comes after feature completion. We are lucky he spends time refining it for our entertainment instead of shutting us all down and simply internally testing it to complete his project. Half the reason this project moves so slow is because he caters so kindly to his audience and our fix requests.

As for counters to the bear traps wait and see how they work before assuming they need a solution or are going to negatively affect game play. You will probably love the first time you watch a player go down from one of your traps.

Add Server based Position Saving and it should be pretty perfect.

New wave of spawn camping. Now there will be chance of hi-gear player spawning (new at server)

I suppose, but all it would do is let you know that something was nearby - human or zombie, it wouldnt reveal a location. Remembering how immersive rocket is trying to make the game, you wouldn't settle down for the night in an apocalypse next to a threa, so it's addition would make thematic sense.

I definitely agree that timers should be used somewhere as a deterrent.

True.To smaller the risk the spawns should be completly random. Just spare out the Towns +500m surrounding as spawnlocations. Add one Soda and one Can of Beans at spawn in case the player spawns really far out in the wilderness.

I have toolbox and tool but unable to disable wire.. wtf?

That could be a FAQ. Just look for one of those steel post on the edges' date=' then look down close to the ground. Works for me in most occasions.

That, good sir, depends on the development architecture. The Spiral Model is what seems to be the closest to DayZ development. New thinking, new features, new bugs, new fixes and back to step one.

---Why on earth should you be unable to react? That's not necessary. Make it so that you can stop the timer and react to whatever at any time you want, but in order to disconnect, you eventualy need to wait through the entire timer.

Does Rocket not work for Bohemia? I bought ArmA2 for DayZ only.

I addressed this by saying that you can add known friendly players in order to dc by them.

- fix so that loot from dog houses doesn't spawn up in the air with it is impossible to reach.

Secound. Kamenka has at least three of those spots.

How about introducing a gun respawn? Do guns EVER actually respawn. Starting to become a JOKE. Walking for hours and never being able to find a gun. Making this a very boring mod

use da brain folks pretty sure the devs know what they are doing' date=' it is their game after all.

[/quote']

Use YOUR brain. Adding new features doesn't negate removing not associated bugs. Fixing game braking bugs in far more important then adding new content (bear traps anyone?)

maybe the bear trap code was ready to be tried, maybe the fixes for the bugs that are already apparent isn't ready yet, whatever the reason, development follows a path laid down by everyone associated.

things get fixed when its ready to be fixed, not when its inconveniencing you so much that it needs to be fixed 'NOAW BECAUSE I WANT TO PLAY WITH NO BUGS' if you want that, come back when its released, and stop whining about how these patches are not being delivered the way your almightiness desires.

or better yet go make your own fucking zombie game and implement the features and fix the bugs you obviously know so much about, and also what is priority.

'i designed the os norad runs on why do you not listen to me and fix bugs so i can play why add bear traps when there are 1000s of hackers' omfg.

I've never had a problem finding guns and/or melee weapons. Barns are typically the easiest/quickest place to find them.

Most servers are generally restarted every 8-10 hours otherwise they become laggy or players have low fps. When they restart, the loots are popping up all over the place.

So look for servers with a lower number of players connected - that may indicate either it's night time on that server, or server just restarted, or server is about to restart.
