If Bohemia Interactive admins are not serious about the development of DayZ, why should I be serious & open my wallet for them?

 

Either invest some of that success from Arma 2&3 into getting a proper development team for DayZ going or you can take solace in the fact that you'll never recieve a dime from me.

A 12 year old could see the connection between the massive increase in Arma 2/3 sales and the DayZ mod, so why can't the BI admins? Bohemia afterall is a private company, so it's not like they're being tied down by some monolithic juggernaut like EA.

 

Wonder where those millions of $ went. Probably into the pockets of the admin staff.

Then again, even it was true that BIS didn't give DayZ enough attention. The sales number of DayZ SA might have bought their attention.

Maybe with their percent of that 6million in sales Bohemia can bring a couple of new people on. You know, pick up some speed.

 

That being said, they did do an amazing amount of work for such a small team!

Do you think when Rocket got the green light BI just gave him the keys to the entire Arma 3 team? Seems pretty untenable. 

 

Rocket would have realistically had his pick of one or a few people to join the project, and would subsequently have to work within a budget to fulfill his personnel needs by making new hires. Now that a stable Alpher is underway, and proof of concept established, BI may be able to divert more resources to the project as Arma 3's development cycle begins to wind down. 

 

Also something to consider is that development for DayZ is probably very specialized compared to say, Arma 3. For example, when Arma 3 campaign is fully released, that would free up a huge team of scenario editors, etc. from BI, absolutely none of whom would have any use developing the standalone because there aren't any scenarios to work out.

What is the job description of a "scenario editor"? I just googled it and cannot find at all what that means. I'm sure that people at BI who are working on Arma III are well versed enough in their own engine to lend a hand with whatever the team is working on. Is there a group of ten people whose job is to solely edit scenarios and are unable to do any other part of the game development process? I doubt it. Those people would not have jobs.

less money = less resources = more control

 

more money = more resources = less control

 

Not to mention they have been adding people to the development staff for a while, and also borrowing staff from Arma as Rocket has stated.
