Loot wont respawn in SA???

Hey guys just read in another topic that loot will spawn in on server up, then be limited til server restart.....is this correct??

 

If it is I see a massive problem here, one that's already had to be addressed in the mod. Its the old crashsites problem, where someone would just log in at restart....find all the CS within 10 mins and leave no loot for players joining later on.

 

So whats the score with this?

Get on before others, seriously, this is a great feature in my opinion, someone taking all the loot so you need to scavenge more to get mere scraps.

so you wouldn't be gutted to log on 10 mins after restart.....say a 10 min run to NWA from your camp.....Only to find that that 6 strong clan that always has the heli has picked every military spawn clean in the 20mins since restart and theres nothing left?

Afaik there will be no heli crashes, care packages or any other type of "shove-everything-up-your-ass" kind of help in the SA. It's first come first server and you can only carry that much...

I still uphold that tis is gonna be a mistake.....trust me clans with veh convoys will pick the map clean before the new players get a look in. Get it all back to there camp and that's where the loot will live. Its proven with the heli crash system. This is basically turning every building into a CS that dosent respawn.

 

Also I never mentioned care packages....im ONLY a vanilla z player......prefer private haives....but gotta be vanilla. Was just using that as an example of how having loot spawn on server up and not respawn has already proved a problem....and then has had to be changed.

 

True that I can only carry so much on me......but then my 4 friends can carry there loot.....we all use backpack space and vehicle inventory. I have no worries we could beat everyone else to all the high value military and pick em clean within 20mins of restart (provided we have heli)

 

This is a mistake!! lol

Thought a restart is no more needed...

Loot at restart is crap. All know the run for heli crashes after restart atm.

 

All players I know use restart information for gameplay. Me also. Hope this thread is nonsense.

I won't be able to stand this. People might think it will be "realistic" and "fun". But in reality, there will literally be no loot.

 

If people want this, they should expect to look every building in Cherno, and come out with with a crowbar, and vast collection of cans.

 

2 people can take all the good loot the server will get in a matter of minutes. This will just result in people jumping to unpopulated servers to loot, only to jump back to high pop servers to kill.

 

Essentially the old days all over again.

Yeah, I'm not sure whether this is actually true or whether it's one of those things that someone has pulled out of their ass and others have caught on and it's been regarded as 'fact'. Might be worth asking Rocket for confirmation/clarification on it.

 

Either way, that particular system does seem very susceptible to abuse/griefing. Obviously helicopters won't be in the initial release, but once they are, they'll simply be used to pick the server clean in the first hour after restart. There's already (rightly or wrongly - it's another discussion for another time) a major advantage to being in an organised group with access to transport, and this will only skew that balance even further - servers will be utterly dominated by groups of 4-5 players who happened to get their hands on a vehicle nice and early and have more loot than they could possibly ever use, and the other X number of players will be effectively fighting it out for double-barrelled shotguns and road flares. Whilst it's a wonderful caricature of capitalism at its finest, it doesn't make for a particularly fun gameplay experience for the 95% who don't have access to transport/don't join the server 2 minutes after restart.

I don't think it is correct, Rocket has said that loot will spawn at server start opposed to spawning when a player enters an area,But i don't think he has said anywhere that will be the only time loot will spawn. 

 

Seems to be people jumping to conclusions.

I wouldn't want to get in a discussion over this when you don't even know how it's going to be like in Standalone - as there's already a few points coming to my mind instantly.

 

  • The serverpopulation will be much bigger than it currently is.

At the moment it's fairly easy to find a server to play on that's almost empty the entire time. That's why it is easy to repair and keep a helicopter for a while and wait for the server to restart and then fly around looting everything.

 

  • There won't even be vehicles

I mean - in the initial release of the standalone there won't be vehicles thus making this whole discussion pointless, as noone will be flying around looting all the crashes

 

 

 

I'm pretty sure I can think of more while the discussion itself hardly makes sense, as we don't even know, whether we're going to have crashsites or not.

Glad to see this isn't a confirmed thing....jus let out a lil sigh of relief. The post I read regarding this went something like "its already confirmed that loot will spawn on server up and not respawn" Hopefully you guys are right and its just someone jumping to conclusions :)

Y'all are thinking too short-term. Let's assume a clan does continue to get to the NWAF at server restart and load up on the best gear before everyone else. This is a predictable pattern. One sniper with a CZ could put an end to this tactic with a few well placed shots into the main rotor of a parked heli.

Plus, there will be far less military grade weapons to stock up on. If a clan wants to fill its tents with a

AKs and M4s, good for them. The quality of gear available won't scale up as dramatically over time as it does in the mod.

This feature will make fruitful loot runs to the airfield less of a guarantee (no loot cycling).

As someone mentioned above, this might just promote server hopping and an over abundance of weaponry on the highly populated servers; sinking gameplay down onto paranoid/bored player interactions.

Can someone get us confirmation on whether loot will "respawn" once a building or pile has been emptied?

Thanks to OP for bringing this up. It is a good question, one I also had. Will loot re spawn or not?

 

Certainly Rocket did say that loot will spawn server side (with the zombies) at restart. That suggests that loot won't re spawn but we just don't know for sure. Definitely need clarification here I think before speculating.

 

I'd also be concerned if loot is a one time deal, though. How long is a server cycle then? 3 hours? 12 hours?! Clans or no, storage or no, after 12 hours that map will be picked clean, especially at increased pop numbers.

 

However a few considerations to allay our fears about initial launch at least. First, no vehicles and no tents mean individual players can only carry so much. So items won't get depleted that quickly (caveat:what if griefers purposefully pick up items they don't need themselves and dump them in fields or whatever? For instance, when I'm in a high traffic area with fresh spawns about, you bet your ass I destroy those shotties, winnies and enfields in my backpack, similar tactic but no remedy by way of re spawning loot). Second, there's a ton more loot! With the addition of Utes and all the new infrastructure, there will be plenty to go around. Third, assuming the new damage feature isn't crazy, there will be good loot on dead dudes. And presumable more dead dudes to loot, once again bigger pop numbers.

 

When vehicles and tents are implemented, a reduced loot system might perfectly remedy excessive hoarding issues and the over accumulation of items.

You guys all worry too much. Loot spawns can be adjusted and even if the Alpher is released with this system in place it can easily change as needed. I get the concerns, but these things are subject to change especially in an Alpha.

I recall this from the Mod. When players only visit certain places and take all the "good stuff". We'll as I recall there were more than the barrack and airfields where stuff spawned and with the additional towns and buildings I won't be worried about loot dissapearing
