Has anyone else noticed the increased numbers of people joining the forums instantly forming/asking to be in clans and posting on topics they don't fully understand? Not to mention the Horrible number of KOS kiddies joining.

It really sucks when these same people come and act like they are the best at the game, posting stories about murdering ammo-less bambi's and fresh spawns Or the linked post where apparetly player skin gender counts for something.

sure dayz is full of pvp but that is because of the playerbase being people looking for cheap tricks, but the game is not made for that. If rockets wanted a pvp zombie game he could have modded Call of duty WaW.

Sorry if I sound like a prick, I just watched totalbiscuit's rant on COD: ghosts because I need material against a "friend" who claims cod is the best franchise ever.

Oh phew, thought you were talking about me there.

Anyway, I would say that we should give them a chance, we all posted on those areas when we started, all the veterans just hang about off-topic now like some old people at the bus stop.

Yes. Keep them in the general, let them rehash all our old conversations while we talk about worthwhile stuff.

Like porn.

Yeah, because everyone joins a forum fully educated in the subject they wish to discuss.

Seriously, elitist crap like this is how communities wither and die. We should be welcoming and looking to educate new players who maybe haven't grasped the subtleties of DayZ just yet, not berating them and casting them aside so we can sit here and circlejerk whilst talking about how much better DayZ was 'back in the day'.

It was a joke. Hopefully they can enjoy and contribute more than we do, or else we're fucked.

The thing I dislike about forum noobs is there inability to search out the topic they want to discuss rather than create a new post.

Of course they post stupid pointless shit or act like what they are doing in game has never been done but the ones that stick with the game find their niche here and settle into the forum where they belong.

all the veterans just hang about off-topic now

Do you consider yourself one? After not even 4 months on this forum?  ;)

Anyway - it is not the new people that are causing issues. Even though there are quite a few new players these days, that's just because Epoch has managed to raise the playercount again. If that's good or bad is not my place to judge in this thread, but fact is that a lot of people have been joining lately and asking questions. They're not the problem. The newbies have always been around and they sometimes don't know where to post, because they're new to this stuff and a lot to read.

And that's not a bad thing, as everyone started out like that once posting in the wrong section.

The problem I see growing is the "veterans" that aren't actually helping people in threads, they're here these days to troll. Whether that's because they can't be bothered to deal with it anymore does not matter. They can just refrain from posting on those threads alltogether, then.

But I see it happening more and more that alleged veterans derail topics in which new players have been asking for tips on general gameplay or how to fix their games or entire servers.

I am happy to help people out, and in my oppinion you should find a different place to post your "funny content" other than those threads. If you can't deal with it - leave it alone. Easy as that.

I think part of being a vet is you have a good sense of humor, And I see the vets using it in the right places most of the time. People like hestaine live here to be laughed at and do a bad job of helping/being serious but I do see vets helping noobs.

A lot of this is about how the topics tone is and If the person made it easy to be heckled at.

Take a look around a little more. Make sure to leave your hope for our generation at the door.

No, but really. With growing popularity, of course we're going to bring in folks of different levels of maturity and different interests here. If you think how they're acting is stupid, just think back to how you acted 3 or 4 years ago, cringe at how stupid you (probably) were, then remember that they'll eventually do the same thing with their behavior now, as will everyone. It's its own punishment, really. All in all, though. As long as they're not flat-out breaking rules, I don't exactly have a problem with it, though I don't waste time seriously responding to threads or posts with little or no effort, such as a clan post like "snipers only girls must have mics no noobs".

I don't mind helpin' the newbies and try and steer them away from simple kos if possible, at least plant the idea that it is possible to not kos and show some self control regardless of countless deaths. As a newbie myself at any forum i will generally do a lot of stickies reading first before asking basic questions and sometimes may not post for a few weeks , get a feel of the people and the mods before i open the door and waltz in to and have a drink and get merry.

Without the constant influx the place stagnates and gets smelly, like Diddums bedroom. It's a cessfuckingpool.

I actually have an ounce of respect for CoD.

The gameplay is repetitive, sure, but in that sense, DayZ is repetitive too. It's just the community that fucked it up.

I'm a veteran of Dayz, but not the forums. >.>

Played since.. well. Before it was popular, to say the least.

There's a difference between forum noobs and plain old noobs wolf.

Nice try. Almost got away with that one.

I agree Callsign but CoD Zombies is no where near a PvP game lol. Unless you count the new Grief mode but thats still more team and survival oriented.

I don't care if LeeHarveyEnfield wants to post these stories because he actually does a good job of telling them. He conveys an image to me that I can understand and at the end I've decided it was a well-written very short story. I don't have to like the theme. Who said good stories had to have heroes and happy endings where everyone is brave and everything makes sense? You're looking at him like he's bragging about what he's done today.

Some people just want to write. It adds to the forum, and it adds to the game. Leave them alone and let them do their thing.
