Leave mod after SA

Recommended Posts

I know a lot of you guys had great times with the mod, for a long time. But now the standalone is coming, so will you leave the mod after it releases? I think that after 2 or 3 months there will be almost no servers in the mod, but I was thinking in playing the mod sometimes even with the SA in my hands. I mean, I'm sure the mod brings cool gaming experiences that will be left forever ONLY in the mod, so... Won't you miss it?

I'm not leaving the mod as long as I have that offroad full of beans and guns.

I've been thinking about putting some racing stripes on it too, red ones makes it go faster.

red ones makes it go faster.

We both know that's a lie...

It only works with white and blue.

The alpha will be buggier than the mod when it releases. The mod won't be going anywhere soon

I would think the SA will be better optimized though, which for players like me without the best connection would be more enticing.

But as long as the mod has something to offer that the SA doesn't ill prolly play every now and again and i doubt everyone will just up and leave it.

Unflawed logic...  I have a feeling numbers will remain in the mod for at least a year following the SA release as you will have different groups scattered and filling its servers.  Those would include players who cannot afford a new game at the time, die hards/unbreakables, as well as the creative people who want to continue pushing the mod to its limits in their spare time.  As for me I will always have a special place in my heart for the mod like a high school sweetheart so I will most likely be jumping back and forth majority of my time.

SA will be a pain of bugs exploits, it will lack some feature in the start..so i think we all will hang around the mod for a while

Exactly, I hope the hard working individuals that have kept the mod going continue thier work towards a really nice Arma3 version. I know that some disagree with, but I think it would be awesome. We'll have Chernarus in the SA and Altis for the mod.

Ill be sticking with the mod for a while. Ill play the SA no doubt but it will take a while for everything to get integrated and running.

When the SA is released, I'm driving my truck into Cherno with all of my public-hive gear in it (which, actually, will probably take 3-4 vehicles; I have a lot of tents), I'm going to walk my happy ass to the top of the under-construction building, and start sniping. Whoever kills me gets to spend the rest of their time in the mod with all my stuff.

sadly i think it will be the sheer boredom of having to return to chernarus that will keep the mod on my HD.

i just dont think the SA with a single map will keep me interested for very long..

I will most likely play the SA alongside the mod.  The degree to which I play the mod will depend on my experience with the SA and how common issues like script kiddies, server hopping, ghosting, and combat logging are.  If these issues haven't been addressed thoroughly on the SA public hive, I will most likely stick with the mod primarily until there is SA support for private servers.  The primary community I play with not has already taken polls on this and determined they will continue to support the DayZ mod with servers.

...good point.

I shall start my murder spree now and drain my resources into the mod slowly.

I'll still play. Most definitely. The main reason being that I'm not buying standalone... not until it's into beta/full release.

I don't wanna play half a game. I'd rather pay 50-60 bucks down the road and enjoy the game, rather than 15-25 for a game with a quarter the content.

If dayz standalone is unmoddable i wouldn't be surprised if the mod continues to thrive. If it wasn't for the submods and the new maps dayz would be empty right now.

The mod will stay around for a long time in some capacity, but it's been dead for me for awhile now as I was just tired of putting up with the mods issues lol I plan to poke it for abit once I get my new PC running right so I can jack up the settings, and that'll probably be it.  Even for a buggy alpha the Standalone will be, I don't think it can get too much worse than what the mod is right now other than if it is unplayable, so I'll probably stick with the Standalone.

I will still stick around and play the mod from time to time. It's nice having the option to play on a map besides Chernarus so until there are other maps available in SA, the mod/mods will still have a place on my hdd.

it's a good point, but then i reckon most of the mods for the mod ended up ruining it.

i'm hoping that SA will be solid enough for me to ditch the mod, but if SA's not right i'll be back, i guess. It's impossible to say until SA is out.
