Some Reasons Why I would like Offline SP In The Standalone.

Recommended Posts

- Increases Performance: You won't have to worry about ping, right?

- Chance to Explore: For those who simply enjoy exploring.

- People who don't like PvP Don't Have to deal with it: Am I the only one who likes killing zombies? I'm sure some people enjoy it.

- Customization: Place Loot, buildings, set Zombie Speed/Health.

- People with bad Internet can still play if their Internet is down: my internet is shit. and it's on a dongle so it has to be shared among my family. And if your net is down you can still have fun.

- My Answer to the "No Players Is No fun" people: So you're saying that the game is just about killing other players? The SA will be packed with new features, so there will be lots to do asides from TDM. Also, SP would be a good chance for noobies to learn the controls.

- Not everyone likes PvP.

I understand that the game is about "Human Interaction" But there actually isn't much human interaction apart from KoS and Teaming-Up. It's also unrealistic "Side Chat: Oh, yeah, dude, I'll pick you up in my chopper and give you all the shit from your body".

This is just my opinion. Flame and rage all you wan. OfficerRaymond can call bullshit if he wishes. Freedom of speech.

Not everyone likes PVP? I'm your friend mate, I like you.

But this is a fucking terrible idea. The basis of DayZ is to survive encounters with other people, and it does that, whilst making the world seem lonely and dangerous.

The idea of offline makes me feel like I'm cheating too.

Heres what it comes down to. Would you wait longer for them to perfect this feature? Say mid 2014 release? Because although I like the idea would you want them spending time and resources on THAT feature, or a bunch of cool other ones that can be implimented into the system they already have?

Freedom of speech.

The freedoms of your country do not apply everywhere on the internet son

if this forum was a country, I'm pretty sure it'd have a totalitarian style government

If Dean doesn't implement this,  I'm sure someone will, and there would be AI probably so there would still be PVP.

I want offline SP just to test stuff out and compile statistics... ie, editor mode. I don't have much interest in "surviving" and doing the whole DayZ thing offline.

(Do I actually expect to get a editor? Hell no. :|)

Exactly the same here (check my sig). My parents aren't even the slightest bit interested in computers or internet, and get angry if the internet runs out :(

*hugs kong* its ok.....its ok....*sniff*

But while I do somewhat agree with the idea, I don't think I'd get the same feeling out of SP than MP.

As much as I hate to say no to my countryman, no :(. But some kind of Editor/map editor thing why not, Dean Hall certainly has to love the modding community, if there was no modding, there'd be no DayZ.

I'd like to see an Editor Mode yeah. Like ArmA 2 Editor. Maybe you could pay for Offline mode? as an Add-On?

Just grab all the pbos and place them into a folder and load them as mod...can't be that difficult. Then you can play with all the things as long as you want. No need for an editor.

I would also like to see some version of SP or LAN. I really doubt that we will as it would take a lot longer to get the game out. I rented my own server for a while and ended up running it white-listed only just so my friends and I could do our own thing. Kind of our version of a LAN party without being local. SP isn't for everyone just as MP isn't either.

I doubt most things would even work in ArmA 2 or 3... body armor, individual bullets, melee weapons, attachments, etc.

Minecraft is still fun offline.

IMO for SP they should slash the loot spawns so I has more play value before you're endgame.

Maybe a story and AI survivors.

A proper singleplayer could just go RPG leveling style IMO.

Why all the hate on me? rofl

I like the idea, and I actually agree. Thank you very much.

While it would take longer to develop, an eventual single player mode would be pretty awesome. Seeing how long you can survive against just zombies, exploring the map, doing anything you want really. Has a sort of... I Am Legend feel to it.

At first i was with having an offline than someone brought up the idea that DayZ is about surviving encounters with other players, and that is very true, without that feeling than its really not DayZ.

It doesn't need to be DayZ though.

And most players can easily be simulated by some simple AI that camps on a hill or tower, looks around corners without even sticking out a finger and 99% of the time shoots you no matter who you are or what you are doing.

You can already play DayZ offline. Your gear and character should never carry over from offline to online play, just like it doesn't now.

You can play offline... Or alone?

Increased performance? I think DayZ SA will controll many things server-side. For example all the zombies, all the items, etc.

Nope, I really don't think it will increase the performane.

Additionally what is DayZ without players? It is a offline zombie game with terrible zombies and nothing to do...
