I dont know if anyone else has thought about this but it would be cool if players were able to find and smoke cigarettes. For instance if a player had been shot at or has been hit by a zed. It could loose the shakes and make the player calmer, but this would also take a curtain amount of health off but not a major amount. This could be a very cool animation to watch:)

I think if they put cigarettes in the game you should be able to smoke them but I don't agree with your side effect. If anything, overtime it should slowly erode your characters health and, depending on how much you smoke, your character should develop a chronic cough. Also you character should also develop an addiction to them depending on how much you smoke. Then if you don't smoke your character starts having nicotine withdraw and the side effects should be what they are in real life. If you've never smoked before why would it alleviate shakes from being hit by a zombie?

Yeah I agree I couldn't think of any symptoms to have! Maybe stamina would go out the window the more you smoke? That would be quite cool!

Unless your character smoked a pack a day for months you wouldn't see any side effects from short term smoking.   

 

 

As for bonuses,  cigarettes seem to have a slight calming effect.  At least that is what it is like in war movies.

 

Mostly, it would just be immersive.

Nicotine not a fact in smoking, Nicotin makes cancer but its long term process. Rather , but TAR is very dangerous things that make serious desease. i'm also lite smoker but i afraid about TAR........

Usually i check some tar from Cigarette Filter after smoking. its Looks like as oily and Dark black color. and Worse smell i cant remove this smell from my finger. after 5 times sofe wash then smell out but feel remain some......

thatwhy realize that its access in our lungs it makes Worse smell and Black because its oily, we cant wash it 5/6 times so. we are going to die. i have no antybody for that because lungs is very sensitive part of our body.

No side effects please.  Smoking side effects are long term.  Besides bad breath and being a bit smelly there are not any side effects that kick in right away.  I would say add em for RP reasons only.

The majority of people don't survive for long enough to experience negative effects from smoking, and I don't think adding 'positive' effects would we wise for obvious reasons.

 

I wouldn't oppose cigarettes being added, but at the same time I don't really think it's something that we need. Maybe a bit later on in the standalone's development...

If you start adding addictive substances, might aswel go all in. Smoking and drinking might be socially acceptable in the western world, they are still drugs.

No. I have smoked since for well over a ten years and I have never had a cough of any sort. Of course my health long term will be affected, that said my grandma smoked unfiltered hand rolled ciggies since she was 12 years old and died at 89 from old age.

 

I think if you smoke in the game, it should just lower your max health. Instead of having 12000, after smoking one whole pack your max health would be 11000. No positive effects should be given to smoking though, apart from it calming your nerves. So when lots of zombies are nearby, your character doesn't give that panicked gasping sound. Your respiratoin would be affected and your running speed shoud be affected negatively too.

 

Of course, you'll look fucking cool.

You must remember everything in the game happens faster than IRL so everything affecting you would have to happen a lot faster, too.

Some are already addicted the first time they smoke. maybe it depends on the persons mental state, too. I tried to smoke for fun with a friend...when i almost fell of my bike while we were riding to another friend it was clear that this is nothing for me, i'd be stupid if i pay to be able to negatively affect my health.
