SA, proper Bolt, lever action and reloading animations.

Recommended Posts

Anybody else has had that buzz kill in the mod where you find a Lee Enfield, and you just go poof... poof ...poof... with it, or a Winchester which supposed to have a lever action.

But this one as well pof..pof..pof.. I would love to see bolt action animation in standalone if it would be possible, with all bolt action rifles, lever action in lever action rifles. how much nice it would sound with bolt actions to hear Poof.click.click.Pooof!clickclick.. Well you get it.

Also Let me add, is it possible for maybe near the full release of Standalone to add proper reloadings like ARMA 3? with actual visible magazines in hand. I mean is the technology possible to have in the RV 3.5 engine the Standalone is using?

breech reload and single shotgun shells?

I just wanna know if its possible, any forum mod could possibly help me?

What do you think?

It is possible, for what it's worth ArmA 3 didn't do it properly either. Usually in ArmA if there's any animation at all the hands don't work the bolts.

I just hope they at least animate shotgun pumps... nothing to pump you up for a fight like the double-crunch of the pump.

Yeah and that recoil on those large caliber weapons would normally break your spine, too...i'm happy i bought the game a long time ago because what i paid was what it's worth imo considering the long BETA period and the time they had to remove flaws and i don't expect any major improvements on the long run. I pity those who bought it at the current price without testing...

other games can do it why is it so hard for dayz?

No animations...if you take an AK and watch closely you see the aniimation for the M16/M4...that's the only animation they have for rifles afaik.

That's eye candy tho, not exactly what i would call a priority, as for the ak/m16 reloading animation it's just that nobody notices the difference, so there is little point in making it just for the handful of OCDs who will see it as an immersion breaking oversight.

Yes other games can do it, so does arma, but budget and schedule being more important than accuracy, when you want to release a game, at some point you stop polishing things and call it done.

"Time & budget" are the key elements here.

If i give you 10 bucks and 1 hour to mow 1 acre, what kind of work can i realistically expect? :)

BiS are a tiny indie dev team and ArmA games are a massive undertaking. It's impressive that they manage as well as they do TBH.

For an indie dev team they sure try to do more than they are capable off imo. You can see the results. As with the animations they are as old as OFP ( now CWC ), i wonder why they never changed that in both ArmA titles.

Hello there

Why don't you make them one?

Exactly, unfortunately things are not as easy to implement as we would all like. They are doing the best they can with the resources they have.

A quick search of the forums should show some interesting renders of separate bolts for specific rifles which may point to something....

ps apologies for the sarcasm, it was to make a point :)

Even in gta 5 the pump action shotgun reloads 8 shells at a time and the sawwed off has 8 shots even though its 3 times shorter.

A true zombie apo simulator with sumilation stage gun mechanics deserves better than every gun with same reloading sound and animation.

We are getting chainsaws apparently :| I hope its as bloody as it is in my dreams.

Do you wanna see Arma 3 stances? Can't say how many times they've saved me, most games when I pop up I'm just instadead.

But with the stances you can actually keep everything covered.

Break your spine? No they won't they. They won't break anything, believe it or not.

As for the suggestion, YES. Since the standalone is going to be focused on civilian weapons, they actually need to feel like a gun.

Well it's not the only zombie game anymore and there are some games that show some potential at least in crafting and stuff. If Dead Island wouldn't have focused on melee and made fire arms entirely useless it would have ben a better game imo. Maybe i'll try Seven days to Die eventually if it really is something like Minecraft with different graphics.

The different stances may be one of the few things ArmA 3 did right. I am totally disappointed by the scope mechanic, i thought it would be something like in RO2 with the scope having a magnification and the surrounding not, but they just removed the blacked out region they had in the previous titles so you can see the ( also magnified ) background and think it's totally new and ground breaking ( it's the same as zooming out with an aimpoint ).

For the realistic scope style you describe you need to render twice, once zoomed and once normally.

The only game I've seen with it is COD which has some of the most undemanding and small sized maps in recent games I can think of.

If they could have both options it could be part of your settings depending on whether or not your PC can handle it.

I agree that proper animations for firearms should be implemented along with proper animations for other items. It is a question of how long it will take to do all the different animations for all the objects. It is really something that should be undertaken between updates and then added in next update, but not before an Alpha release which would mean delays.
