reading and boardgames

Recommended Posts

I haven't seen this to be suggested but I might be wrong didn't see anything in search.
Basically the idea is you could read books, and other things like comics and letters.
because in the zombie apocalypse time can get very borring, when you are barricaded yourself and your friends in some boring ass shitty police station and there is nothing to do.
what do you do? you either kill zombies and get everyone chasing after you and your crew or play games and read or you can just get some supplies.
books and comics and other reading material are pretty common to find in any place homes, store and
some rather odd places. Players can find letters left by infected before the apocalypse. these are rare and only found in homes. books can give more insight to the virus and letters can give idea who lived there or who person was some letters are in russian but some in english. if you have dictionary from russian to english and a pen, (you have your journal to write in) you can translate it and read it in english. same works for books and comics.

Boardgames are like small minigames example deck of card can be used for solitair or poker. and some other small boardgames non these suggestions are important but it would give more life to the game and less reason to kill eachother and have fun and these games should be made seriously nobody likes half assed minigames they are annyoing and stupid.

sorry mt english is bad i'm using computer in library and they have only windows explorer but i used grammar check and it should be mistake free.

Books are already in SA.  Full books to like Moby Dick and such.  I would love for card games and such to be in SA too.  I was actually thinking about suggesting that idea earlier but never got around to it.

if you have a bookmark in your inventory you can put it in your book to remember your last page.

I do like the ideas like instruments, cigs,  games, and books.

After you have gathered the supplies to survive a while, why go out and die??

After I have a good pile of loot I will sit down, take a deep breathe, and start reading, or gaming, or playing music!

Hello there

I've always liked the thought of mini games within games.

When I used to live in Africa one would often find a pattern of a game "board" scratched in stone on a wall or convenient rock which could be played with stones. A form of othello/kensington if you will. That goes back a long way.

This has cropped up before on the forums, and i'd like to see something simple implemented. Could add something to the loot tables too.

With a makarov loaded with 1 shot.

I believe that Russian Roulette with a semi-automatic is called "Irish Roulette." Because you need the luck of the Irish to survive.

A concept similar to that of Russian Roulette, but a semi-automatic firearm is used in place of the six-shooter. While the odds vary depending on the quality of the weapon itself, there is rarely a clear cut winner."So who won that match of Irish Roulette yesterday?" "... It was a draw."

Pets would be in the game but I think if the design is developed with great depth it would be a major activity outside of killing & raiding, etc.

Remember Digimon, the hand held gaming device? You would constantly check and see if it's hungry, see if it's in a bad mood, see if it's lonely. With dogs, you can increase its loyalty, keep it in shape, constantly practice hunting with the dog.

We can keep the activity with the pet in the range of pretty regular, normal stuff, and it would still be enough to keep the players occupy, and be occupied in a good way.

They can even further develop this to having dog breeding, players can find rare breeds that're good with hunting, and generate more puppies and trade them with other survivors for stuff. The dog breeding element won't be a realistic acvitiy in an apocalyptic world like DayZ, so please understand that I'm not suggesting it.

I totally love this idea. It'll immerse you in the experience. Just having more things to do that aren't murder related would be really cool.

Mini games would be a sweet idea, a good way to trade items you have a bet play a game of cards or something else like PAC man. Na top idea that would be a fun thing in the game

Chess would be awesome.

I'd imagine you'd get some psychos who challenge people to games and punish their victims with death if they lose... That would be pretty tense and cool

PS actually, to further the topic and to hide my shame, as I stated earlier, Ive always been a fan of mini games as long as they "fit" within the game world. Cards/dominoes etc. Plus it would be fun trying to complete a set before one could play IMHO

Hey bandit want to play monopoly?

Let's play Magic the Gathering. Come gather around the fireplace, fellow survivors, I'll teach you the rules. Now, take my hand.

You see those? Those are Land cards, they generate mana.
