idea for more secret stash places for hide loot

Recommended Posts

sometime I think tent is bullshit >:(

maybe is possible hide somethings so is not possible for guy to find from 1 km with binocular? :)

also sometime I have pistol example m9 with 4 mag and after I find one g17 no ammo.

I don't want to hold 2 pistol and my tent is on the island is 10 minute swim, why I cant stash this some place in town?

here is 3 idea for make stash, is possible guy is find but he need to look for this, not like tent who shout 'HEY OVER HERE' to all player :D

#1 loose brick

is random thing but some brick in house or wall is too much loose, is possible hide small things like pistol or ammo

is possible notice if you look careful and is possible any guy can find this and steal goods but is good hide for small things.

me I put pistol and ammo all around elektro ;)

#2 make hole in ground

make so hole is hold more items like primary etc

you need - shovel for dig, plastic bags or sheets for protect loot

maybe is possible find one rock to put here so find is easy for you

is possible some guy notice, maybe make ground disturb colour but you need to look direct on this to notice

#3 hide inside fireplaces

is possible put some small item inside where smoke is going, is possible give mouse wheel option 'look in the fireplace hole' when player look on this

what you think for this stash idea?

Pretty good ideas.  They did add the underground stash thing recently but it too, sticks out pretty badly.

I've heard the hole in the ground suggestion, but hiding stuff in fireplaces and behind bricks is new.

I like the ideas, but I think loot will be so much more rare that you won;t find that you have much overstock, or superflous items.

Also, if this were actually to be implemented than I would also like to add the concept of crafting a stash spot.

A rock with a false bottom could be fashioned to hold small items, a crowbar could pry a floorboard, ceiling tiles of a "dropped ceiling" could be lifted, and slid aside.

Simply burying stuff would be good, but you would have to protect the item/s from the elements somehow or it would degrade the quality of the item over a few days.

Empty coffee cans, tupperware, paint cans, plastic paint buckets, biohazard drums, and oil barrels would be good things to fill and bury.

X marks the spot....

Very nice idea. Also hiding stuff under water (plastic bag or sealed metal box, weighted down by rocks) would also be cool.

I think that #1 is a pretty good idea, but it seems like it relies more on having specific hiding spots available, rather than allowing players to create these spots without them having to be coding in.

If the environment was more flexible and destructible, then I imagine that would work very well. But I doubt the engine would allow that.

#2 seems a little too hard to spot. Nothing more I can say.

#3 is just a little ridiculous IMO. Adding the option to look in the fireplace hole just seems way too specific, and people would look in every single fireplace for loot, thus making the very idea redundant.

I like your ideas KoS; as well as your water idea Frytek. I think another thing that could be done is to use:

old safes

gun safes

heavy duty gun cabinets

armories

old bank buildings with the safe still intact etc.

Have things that you find that you can put a new padlock on or reset the combination etc. The padlock could, of course, be cut; but maybe make it hard to do so. For instance, if you wanted to break into a safe that was locked with a padlock, you'd need, maybe, a set of bolt cutters that take up 3-4 units of space to give it a pretty high opportunity cost that would make most players think "I'm not going to carry these bolt cutters at the expense of losing 4 slots of inventory just because I might run across a safe!"

These options could be good stash options, but make them more rare than what would be needed to stash guns in the ground etc.

I think it would be interesting, although difficult to implement, different kinds of locks that either had a certain combination or only fit specific keys that could be used with lockers/safes/boxes

If you knew the combination or had a working key, then you could potentially have a very safe (ha ha) place to store items, but they would be very rare and if you lost the key or somehow forgot the combination then you'd be screwed.

You could also use this system to spawn different types of safes around the world and have decent loot spawn inside (Weapons, Ammo, Maps, etc.) but have the key spawn separately so that it wouldn't just be easy access (Or it could, if you were lucky enough to have Safe B and Key B spawn nearby)

The problem with digging holes is that it'd lead to an disadvantage where if a player were to die, they could easily come back to where they hid that stash spot and retrieve it back. Even if there would be an indication(dirt pile, bags, etc) there isn't enough players that navigate in the whole Chernarus location like forests unless if the player died, the hole would disappear permanently.

The brick idea seems too intricate for the ARMA 2 engine to do.

Tents are the best way to go about this for inventory storage as it blends into environments, it's about where you place them. There's about 225km of map space (Islands as well) for players to place these tents

Either way it's fun to read.

Maybe you could bust a hole in an interior wall and stick something inside there aswell, it should be the quickest but obvious way of storing several smaller items.

But, maybe not or we will end up with 20 holes punched in every house through Churno.

What it boils down to, I think, is that there needs to be a way for players to put items down in whatever place they can find without those items disappearing after a certain amount of time. There should be a "save this item" option or "save this drop" maybe so that you don't have to save each individual item as you drop it.

But then you'd get people saving tin cans so nothing else spawns :(

This might work in SA, but I'm not sure if it would work in the mod.

I agree with you Skat3rat; I don't think it could work in the mod and partially because of what AP_Norris said: people (douches lol) would save empty cans etc. to take up space on the server and then things wouldn't be able to be saved...

Which means there needs to be a fix for that issue: a limited amount of storage space per player :) That way, groups of people could store the things they want as a group by having each member take on part of the storing burden. This would make it more beneficial to run with other players so that you could store more stuff (or stuff that takes up more space).

In this scenario, the devs could possibly say that the storage areas needed to be "built", such as a wooden ammo crate or chest etc. The more survivors you have working together, the larger storage container your group could craft :) This is just brainstorming, so in no way do I think "this is the best way" to carry out this idea, but it's a start. Thoughts?

someone mentioned an old bank....I like that...like you could take a key for a safe deposit box in the bank. It would have to be 1 key per person or 1 player could just take all the keys.

Could be a good way of making highly geared players re-enter a city aswell. If the say killed someone at NWA and found there safe deposit box key they may want to go back into the city to see whats there.
