FrostDMG 398 Posted August 12, 2013 (edited) I don't get this really. How come the mod is called "DayZ" - assuming Z is for "zombie" - when Rocket and Co said multiple times that they are in fact infected... Surely it should be "DayI" - I for "Infection" - (dangerously close to DayJ, I know), though it doesn't quite have the same ring to it... Thoughts? Couldn't be worse than naming your game WarZ.
Korsbaek 1778 Posted August 12, 2013 Wahtever. I'll keep calling it DayZ anyway.Like when i talk about WarZ i always refer to it as that War Survivor Infestation thing.
FrostDMG 398 Posted August 12, 2013 Infestation Survivor Stories... they namechanged to get more people... pathetic
Diggydug (DayZ) 331 Posted August 12, 2013 It's not like Rocket had any idea it'd become so popular. It's catchy and simple. I agree the "Zed" in DayZ aren't zombies and should be considered "infected" but I'm not going to fuss about it and the name should stay as is just for familiarity's sake. Inception. 9443 Posted August 12, 2013 (edited) Z is the final letter in the alphabet. The z in DayZ could perhaps refer to humanity's/the inhabitants of Chernarus' end. Edited August 12, 2013 by Inception.

FrostDMG 398 Posted August 12, 2013 Interesting theory, Inception... But I'm thinking Rocket might secretly fancy someone called Daisy, so he's trying to be all "subliminal n shit" but I see what's going on

rossums 2190 Posted August 12, 2013 A zombie doesn't have to refer to the typical 'reanimated dead' type zombie. It can refer to an infected person who has no control over their actions or self-awareness - 'brain-dead' but still technically host to an infection or parasite and thus 'alive' as far as most bodily functions go.
