Where are all the devblogs?

Whilst I agree with you on some of your points, I think that everyone has a social conciousness, and knows the different between morally right and morally wrong. There'd always be a divide between people like that in the instance of an extreme situation; those who do what's right, those who do what's wrong and those who do anything to survive.

Morals are a construct based on regional popular opinion. what is acceptable in one society is appalled by another. right and wrong are subjective to popular views and shift with changes in views. e.g. slavery, women's rights, child labor, etc...

If the majority of people that survive the zombie apocalypse are self preservationists, tough, resourceful and even less scrupulous, morals will change to reflect the new popular opinion, "kill or be killed", or "it's them or me"

What I said was based on this game as an apocalypse. It is just simple as hell to understand (imo, dunno if its also so for you).

^That said I claim knowing how people would react in such an apocalypse because I saw/experienced/lived it many and many times and keep living that apocalypse whenever I join to a server.

People tend to die a lot in the mod, generally to a bandit. Think about what would happen if you could not re-spawn when wanted/intended. Guess what? Only a few people would be alive in the apocalypse.

It is not "really" that hard to analyze a simple game that you play a lot.. In a game in which almost all the players play as bandit there would not be a lot of people surviving (as how the case is now) if it would be taken to the reality.

Take that map as the world and your character as yourself. You have only one chance to live. And everyone you would across around is bandit. What would happen ?

Lemme answer, you would probably end up dying to a bandit badly or survive with the few people that survived that long.

Plain and simple my friend.

if you play on whitelisted server, yes, the majority will be carebears that want to do each others hair.

go play on an open server, where there is no law or mods to ban you for shooting someone. that's when humanity shows it's face.

All humans, can and will do anything to survive. In desperate times humans can do unspeakable things to survive for just one more day..

i love how people claim to know how people would react in an apocolypse...

You need to watch the news more often, seriously.

Take any first world country then:

  • take away their electricity
  • take away their shelter
  • take away their food
  • take away their water

Everytime a hurricane, flood, or earthquake hits a populated area, if the people aren't rounded up and fed by their government, they begin fighting among themselves for the essentials.

Now in our scenario:

  • There is no government - in any country.
  • There is no salvation
  • There is no hope.

You give humanity too much credit. the only reason we don't kill each other for Tacos, is we're not starving and have the Law to deter us.

IF and WHEN the zombie apocalypse hits, if you think humanity wont turn on itself, then you will be on of those that does not make it.

This is very likely true in an apocalypse without zombies. In zombie apocalypse it's different thing because there would be probably waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more zombies than humans and that's why people would unite more against the bigger threat than kill each other. Banditry is so common in DayZ just because it's way too easy to survive against zombies and you can spawn instantly after death. I might be wrong but that's how I believe.

I think that people would team up to kill each other because the sence of teamwork justifies the actions. But before this, people would kill the new enemy, zombies, once they would clear the earth from zombies they would fight for power. I think that this is the reason we all play Dayz, we like to get away from reality with the idea of an apocalypse and believe me As a bandit I know why and when I kill other players that every single reaction that makes me shoot them is a real player-real time reaction. I kill every threat, for example: I wouldnt kill an unarmed player running in cherno but I would definitely kill an unarmed player hiding near a military loot! That's my in-game reaction and I think that would be the real life reaction because you can't take the risk. Bandits are players that don't take risks but a good Bandit would never kill everyone (like most of them do). A good bandit is eliminating threats not posibilities!

P.S We are completely off topic :D DEAN Release the Devblog or the forums will become a surviving university!

i totally agree. and i deeply hope (in the SA) the zombies will be a real thread instead of a minor nuisance.

my observations are based on the current mod and the near laughable zombies; which is almost like having no zombies at all.

People usually unite against a common threat. In dayz mod, there is no threat, except being robbed of your goodies - which is often the case in real life when disaster strikes a metropolitan area; looters, thieves and roaming gangs are a real threat.

In dayz standalone, it will be important the the single-most dangerous element of the game is the Zeds.

In the text you quoted from me there is nothing saying anything about carebears/friendship/not kossing. You dont seem to understand the fact that we are saying the same thing, which is that the current case in the mod is that everyone plays the bandit role.

I was elaborating this case all this time.. Do you ever read ?

You are imo 100% right my friend. If that fact^ of the game would not be there, there then would not be that many people alive in the game, which would cause an apocalypse with 2-3 people.

Imo the fact that you can re-born instantly is one of the biggest reasons why people wanna go on and play as the bad guy along with the other fact that 50% of the players just love PvP over Pve and such. Because of people not wanting to lose over and over again, everyone tries to "win" the game by kossing/banditing everyone around.

 Do you ever read ?

No, i am absorbing your confusing, contradicting, and assuming posts through osmosis...

i disagreed with (and replied to) this statement: "in an apocalypse, there would not be that many bandits.."

You assumed the rest.

Can you then elaborate what this silly statement is made for? Nothing like that has ever said in this place in the first place.

And I also elaborated that the "apocalypse" I was talking about was based the mod we have.. I've clearly written that also elaborating the facts why it is so.

Again, do you ever read? o.O

That's misleading, but it's for the mod.

LOL, I'm disappointed.. I thought they were going to release it soon.. waiting for the review next week

I read English just fine, thank you. You, however, write like Drunk Yoda so I obviously didn't get your point as it was convoluted and poorly written.

Lisez-vous?

EDIT: this isn't a knock against ESL, but sheesh, write poorly, expect confusion

We all agree there should be some silent mechanics in place to make people naturally go towards more comunication and neutral behavior. I think the ability to melee with various items and the shock mechanic might help with that. Basically, if you can knock down a player unconcious with let's say a can of bean in his face, then you don't really need to kill him. Plus you might damage the precious loot if you shoot at him. I imagine all those mechanics are going to make a nice change in the way player interacts with each other.

No, it does not. There is no set release date. When an alpha candidate passes it's milestone review, it will be released.

You said you had a date set internally.

The internal date was for milestones rather than a release of the Alpha.

And who made you the authority on humanity? What is a government if not human beings? It's not an artificial intelligence.

I could say: Come the apocalypse the "I'm alright, fuck you" mentality would go out the window, along with the people who think like that, so good luck.

But why bother, it's only make believe, and our lovely 'governments' will do us in first, long before anything as fanciful as a zombie apocalypse

First of all I did not say that you cannot read or such. I asked if you ever read before attempting to respond something..

Secondly, if what you understood from my text led you to write this as a response;

if you play on whitelisted server, yes, the majority will be carebears that want to do each others hair.

go play on an open server, where there is no law or mods to ban you for shooting someone. that's when humanity shows it's face.

Then you are wrong. The problem is not my grammar nor your skills of reading english. It is your brain that needs to be fixed. You'd wish your english would be the problem.. But if you could read my text "just fine" then you would easily understand that what you wrote is by no way connected to what I wrote/stated.

Yet you failed to understand any point of my statement and kept saying "Whitelisters.. Angels.. Flying pigs..."

Its not that hard to understand why you cba to give proper responses just looking at your profile picture tho..

Regarding which^ and that I do not have any more patience to keep getting along with your BS's, I'd advice you to stop this fail attempt of trolling. And if you would insist that what you were doing was not meant to be trolling and you gave attention reading the posts here, then you should better see a doctor.

Just my 2 cents (IMO)

Thanks

Regards

Yeah, he also said that he wanted it to be released December 2012, even if Dean says it take it as speculation until you can actually download the client from the website and not some shitty leaked torrent.

He did not say that the game was gonna be released a week later or such. If you would follow his reddit as well, you could very well know that he wanted/hoped to release the game in the 2 months after stating this will of hims.

There was never a given release date ever..

The guy above said this date was fore a milestone and not a release and in this video he CLEARLY states otherwise. They have a date internally.

Again, I know there is no release date, thats no what im saying.

Please read more carefully.
