Kids: MOM!  You said the Chicken would be ready in 2 hours and its be 2 hours and one minuet!

Mom: Sorry but the FUCKING HOUSE CAUGHT FIRE because the oven sucked.  We're eating McDonalds and sleeping in the car till the house gets rebuilt, which the contractor said should be in June.

Kids: BUT MOOOOOM! We want chicken now!  You suck!

Dad: Kids...go get my belt.

I think Mom, I mean Rocket needs a Dad in this situation.

Hello there

I didnt personally mean to be harsh with you O.R.

But, I personally would be so miffed with certain 'Tubers and redditors and even forum members.

R must have a hide of steel (Im a sensitive thing).

Compared to a standard AAA release there *are* issues, there's no denying that. But, I feel we all need to cut the devs some slack.

We have to remember even though this is "produced" by a games company, it *is* a small one and R etc is only a small part of it, although due to the virality an important one.

I fully *get* peoples irritation but I think there are more important things to concentrate on.

R is just a guy, you know?

Although he has had experience in the gaming industry previous to this he isn't an expert. There's a heck of a lot of new territory to be covered.

I think he, the devs, the support (red guys) and us lowly mods (including those lazy Green/gold chaps) are doing a sterling job.

Plus, the honesty and transparency, for me, is really refreshing compared to many other multinationals I've previously worked with. (obviously i'm just a volunteer and consider myself an average user that  just stomps on spam occasionally).

It just *chaffs* me a little when I see 'tubers and members crying "SCAM!" and "Lies!" and that's why I respond harshly sometimes.

It's a game. It's gonna be a good un. it wont be perfect, but it'll be damn fun and it will be ready when it's ready. It's not going to change global economics or solve poverty.

Get involved, that's great but don't make it into a crusade.

It is my first time seeing that Dean got such a rate for one of his reddit posts..

It is a clear sign that the community doesn't like to be mistaken a lot. I hope rocket recognizes that and plans to do something about it..

Pretty much the standard way most online communities treat devs after they get over the inital excitement and praising. It always goes from..you rock ! to i want !

Inevitably it ends with an exit stage left by the dev from community participation and you have to really on dev blog type stuff/interviews and rumour. Interested to see how long Rocket holds out and if he defies the odds :)

Well, no amount of bitching is going to help their cause, as it'll be released when it is released. My problem lies solely with dates being given. I could care less what dates are missed, but of course there is a level of disappointment that is felt by every date that isn't met. Who should care? Nobody. Who does care? The whiny little over-reactors. I'm not sympathizing with them, but like I said... the Standalone DESERVES a strong, healthy, and fun community when it is released with all the work that has been put into it. All this matter of time frames and dates is ripping the community to pieces. Some STUPID fucking things have torn the community apart *cough* can immersion *cough cough*, but this one I find to not be so unreasonable. Of course some people are gonna be pissed, granted the way some react is completely uncalled for.

Guys guys, come on now...Rocket Clearly stated that it would be released on Smarch 13th 2013, when the weather will be lousy so we can all stay inside and play Standalone.  Donuts, I mean beans to the first one who gets that reference.

The correct answer to this is, "Lousy Smarch weather!".

I can spot a Simpsons reference in a Ghillie suit from 500 yards.

More on topic?

I don't follow game news like a maniac, like some of my friends.

I used to more, but it just makes you nuts. WANT WANT WANT

Did you all SEE the new Smash Bros?

It's best to just put it all out of mind for as long as possible.

Then one day, bing, kill ALL the zombies!

Cheers to rocket for suffering fools.

I feel I have waited for this game since March of '96 when I first put a piece of tape over a button in a PS1, and played an import copy of Bio Hazard JPN. I think I can wait a little longer.

The man scaled Everest, I think he can handle some whiny little fuckers sitting behind the keyboard crying.

Technically SmashT got it first, but I'll still give you beans.

Yes, but if 2 hours is to pass and the chicken not be ready, then mom shouldn't have said it'd be ready in 2 hours in the first place. She should have never set a specific time in the first place and told him that it'd be ready when it was ready. She would still probably get shit about it, but at least she couldn't be called a liar when the chicken wasn't ready when she said it would.

Well Rocket never announced final release of the game, or I have missed something. preAlpha, Alpha, preBeta, Beta is not count. These are todays game developer curse - because most of the kids judged GAME in ALPHA version.

The one and only time he gave a 'release date' was last year, and even then it was more of a 'we should have it out by the end of this year (2012)', they 'missed' that deadline (they couldn't just port over stuff form the mod to the new engine, so they had to pretty much start from scratch) and ever since Rocket has been VERY gunshy about giving out dates, and whenever he does he qualifies it in some way, "Well we're going to have an internal review in June to see where the game is, and then we'll think about a release date then."  People frothing at the mouth have selective hearing...or vision as the case of the internet and saw RELEASE DATE and JUNE and started cranking out the media machine to preach from the top of Everest that Standalone would release in June.  Same thing with the 'we have a specific release week in mind', they saw RELEASE and IN and A and WEEK and had a joygasm.

People tend to forget that sometimes shit happens.  Like when something as simple as a power outage that lasts 5 mins can delay things by a week.  A malfunctioning fire sprinkler can destroy an entire office worth of computers and hard drives.

making games and selling them is like politics .

most is word play. once you mess up your word play then its a game of words. which has what has happened with the release of this mythical beast.
