RooBurger 285 Posted June 2, 2013 Do people usually whinge this much before a game is released? I haven't followed a game this closely on the internet before. The best I could hope for as a kid was to see a screenshot in a magazine and maybe a few comments from the developers. I really appreciated the fact that they released anything at all. What I've seen from fans of DayZ blows my mind. For that matter, do developers usually create this many blogs entries, respond to their fans on twitter, forums, reddit, attend conferences, do interviews to the same degree that Rocket does? Because I'd be very surprised if so.

People have already played the basic concept of it so they have pretty rigid views of what they want/expect. Also because many love it or least can see it's potential they don't want to see it messed up. That's the way I look at it anyway. Some of the recent big games hardly show any development if any at all (GTA 5 for example). It just depends on the dev/publishers I guess. Smaller dev teams seem to prefer keeping the communities more informed than the larger ones, or at least have a more laid-back approach. Some see that as unproffesional others see that as being open. Either way it's never going to please everyone. Edited June 2, 2013 by Fraggle

Mike343434 1 Posted June 2, 2013 The inventory system and graphics does look quite nice but this quickbar creeps me out -.-its much better if you have to search your backpack until you find what you want. I hope i will be able to dissable this quickbar^^I was a little dubious of the quickbar when it was first announced too, but bare in mind that its not your typical quickbar that allows you to instantly swap from one item to the next. There will be a delay to getting items out of a backpack, preventing people from just being able to swap weapons in the blink of an eye.And in the dev videos ive seen only the items in the quickbar are visible when playing, not the whole quickbar, Personally I'm hoping that even they wont be visible. terrvik 2409 Posted June 2, 2013 i understand the quickbar as something that you would have at hand immediately: things in your pants pockets or actually any pockets, on your belt, in your holster...According to what Dean has posted the quickbar can be used to access anything anywhere in your inventory, it just takes different amount of time depending on where you store it (short time to reach something in your pockets, longer to dig it out your backpack).

I hope i will be able to dissable this quickbar^^I understand how you feel about the quickbar, but I imagine the quickbar to be akin to having things clipped on you outside of your clothing/backpack, easy to reach kind of thing.Actually that gives me an idea, I'd like to be able see the things that are on the hotbar visible on your person, so unselected AK would be slung over shoulder with a strap or strapped to backpack, grenades clipped onto belt. In fact you could extend on that idea and have it so certain items of clothing give you more or less hotbar slots. It would be awesome if we could get visual confirmation of someones loadout like that. Me and my dreams lol.

Just gonna have to see how it all pans out I think. There's gonna be a LOT more potential loot to sort through plus the crafting system so maybe a quickbar is needed. At this point I'm undecided.Edit - @Kra, that'd be my dream too. Having the QB items visible on the person would make my day. mr_chabowski@live.co.uk 2416 Posted June 2, 2013 (edited) I see it as a hint that you're able to be instantly aware of where you've stored a particular item as opposed to an actual quick-equip bar.If the different length animations are properly implemented, it'll be like knowing you have a bandage in a certain pocket, so you don't have to search through all your stuff.@CapricornOneInventory management should be like a minigame.Or at least complicated enough that certain organisational tricks can give you an advantage, like in reality. Me and my dreams lol.Would also be fun that in order to be able to put something on the quickbar the item require a way to attach or be small enough to fit in your pockets. For example a large pair of binoculars must be stored in the backpack and dug up every time unless you attach some string and hang it around your neck, then it becomes available for the quickbar. Or you could just find a pair of those small binocs that fits in your pockets. The quick-bar is one of the things I'm most skeptical about ATM. Just gonna have to see how it all pans out I think. That it looks messy or that it will be to easy to get out stuff "too quick"? Edited June 2, 2013 by Terrorviktor

You can post them there (make sure to read the initial post though) and hopefully some will be answered over time and in the course of several events (e.g. E3) [DAYZ SA] - ultimate Q&Athank you
Zeppa 562 Posted June 2, 2013 I demand BF4 like trailers that has duration like 5 seconds and then HUGE DAYZ LOGO shoved in your face after!!... weekly, at least!Because that is what makes a good game! No real info please.. or screenshots. Just photoshopped and edited promo material that we can be disapointed like people with warz was.. Because that is what consumers should see, not the real behind the scenes material... pffsss
Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted June 2, 2013 (edited) What is it you are skeptical about? That it looks messy or that it will be to easy to get out stuff "too quick"?Mainly that it will be too quick and easy to pull a gun on someone or "insta-heal" etc. I know there will be anims eventually with the appropriate delay but I'm just gonna have to see it when it's fully working with everything else until I'm convined it's a good idea.
