5carecrow 4 Posted May 22, 2013 So, I was playing origins (Which right now is supposed to be like a vanilla dayz killer from what I heard) and the only thing that really draws me towards origins over the normal mod is the houses. I think it's a really nice idea for the normal dayz. Opinions?

PK Richie 507 Posted May 22, 2013 Which right now is supposed to be like a vanilla dayz killer from what I heardSomeone told you lies :P Origins is a bunch of stolen code that can easily be exploited, The origins team are too busy milking the community to fix it.Dayz public servers are vanilla, private servers have a bit too much modifications done, but choice is good :)
nickpicks56 3 Posted May 22, 2013 I like normal DayZ the way it is, because it brings back the old feeling of DayZ months ago. It'll never be the exact same, but I personally like normal DayZ the way it is.

5carecrow 4 Posted May 23, 2013 Like a player house.
5carecrow 4 Posted May 23, 2013 For instance, you would gather materials like wood, stone, etc and go to a nice secluded safe area to where you start to construct it with tools like a hammer, shovel, things like that. Then after you were finished constructing it you could upgrade it to a bigger house, so on and so on.
Death_Dealer 3155 Posted May 23, 2013 The Origin houses are like this:It'd be neat to create some sort of small dwelling in the mod IMO. DayZ really needs that feel. Living in the forest inside a pine tree gets old fast.

Private Evans 1303 Posted May 23, 2013 Living in a small sweet hobbit house surrounded by a nice small garden fence, including a mailbox for my daily newspaper and having a nice chat with the neighbours In the evening after a hard day of looting...yes..that's my dream of living in a zombie apocalypse...honestly...I can see myself decorating my home ( love machine or wastland style) and going out for a pint on a friday night to the nearest trading point..... Death_Dealer 3155 Posted May 23, 2013 Link is broke. Just leads to a crappy movie selling site that doesn't look safe at all.
Tigger (DayZ) 24 Posted May 23, 2013 I love the origins houses, apart from the few bugs. However- taviana map, while not exceptionally nice, is huge. Chernarus is pretty small in comparison and one would expect that it would quickly be a house next to a house in every possible location. Honestly, I would love to have a huge map, even larger than Taviana perhaps, but with Chernarus-like design and in the north with Namalsk-like environment or even tougher. Clumzy (DayZ) 377 Posted May 23, 2013 I feel like most people in an apocalypse scenario would be moving into pre-built houses or buildings and not making their own. Of course I'm not sure, but every player in the game building a nice little cabin in the woods seems out of place. But, it doesn't seem like it's going to happen anyways, so what am I worrying about.

Also, houses aren't that much larger than tents (Ground space, I mean) so you could say the same for tents, but you don't see them everywhere. Also the fact being houses would be much harder to build than tents, because you just find tents.
sausagekingofchicago 4711 Posted May 23, 2013 I refuse to support GP. Underground bases, while funky in concept, will work better than a bunch of silly houses cluttering the servers. Even though all 60 people on a server at one point wont all have a house, over time several hundred could easily be built. Lag. Clutter. etc.

joe_mcentire 2074 Posted May 23, 2013 under ground because you could make them as instances...like you enter an other map decoupled from the original map, therefore you bypass the lag-problem.
PK Richie 507 Posted May 23, 2013 Arma doesn't do underground bases well, Namalsk's bunker at Object A2 isn't actully underground.
OrLoK 16186 Posted May 23, 2013 Hello thereWhen we say underground, it wouldnt really "gamewise" be underground rather as a separate entity.I like the idea of playermade buildings but in SWG i remember vast areas full of abandoned unused buildings. Needs a lot of careful thought IMHO.rgdsLoK
