Hitmarkers, yay or nay?

Recommended Posts

Just curious would you like to see hitmarkers added?

edit: well what about markers when you are getting hit

For realism nay. Imagine just shooting in a bush to see wether someone is there, just not realistic. Which is what this mod is all about

Or you could look out for blood on bullet impact.

Edit: You're just tired of being shot at, not knowing where it is coming from, and want it easier. $5 That's why you made this thread.

definitely don't need hitmarkers, people would just spray bullets at anything that moves to check if there's someone there.

pretty much this

well how can you explain that vast majority of servers have nametags (which is worse) crosshairs and even 3rd view. Realism it is not.

nametags are horrible and iirc not the majority. crosshairs provide a way to synchronize the point where you are looking and where your avatar looks, the human focus is a rather precise tool and not easily reproduced on a screen. 3rd person view.. well.. i'd rather not have it, though i have to admit i use it times and again for convenience on servers where available.. its also a real help when landing a chopper as 1st person view is far too limited in comparison to real view inside the vehicles..

hitmarkers however - definitely a no, like nametags.

Nope makes it more like CoD and less like real life. When u hit someone in real life you dont get a little icon popping up on your in head hud, why add that to DayZ... makes it less a sim and more just a shooter... I would vote against it

No, what the hell are those things and what is their purpose? It makes no sense to me... I've never even seen that in a game.

The only hitmarkers should be blood pouring out of the person from wherever you shot them.

It's a big fat nay from me for the reasons listed above.

You have never played a game with hit markers..?

Really?

I liked how the character moved when the bullet hit him. I think a visual feedback of the body being hit would be enough.

I don't know if the new ragdoll system will allow individual bodyparts to be pushed back, but that probably the best aid to see wether you hit or not.

But considering other aids, "NO GUI" is the actual trend. So everything that is displayed on the screen, that you would not see in real life, should not be displayed on the screen.

I quite enjoy them in Battlefield.

But that's Battlefield... and this is Arma...
