DayZ Suggestions. Please take a look.

Hello DayZ community! I had a couple ideas for the DayZ standalone and wanted to run them by you to see if you might like them.

Idea No.1:

Have the ability to drain the blood of animals (and possibly people) into a breakable, throw-able bottle. Upon throwing blood filled container (like a smoke grenade or like Left 4 Dead's Boomer Bile) you attract all immediate zombies to the blood that was spilled. If this blood happens to hit another zombie (or player) the zombies will then attack that particular unfortunate "victim" until the duration has expired.

Idea No. 2:

Since zombies have poor eye sight naturally, I think it would be neat to implement a mechanic that when it is raining hard, the zombies have a much less aggro radius to players. This would make sense because the rain coming down hard would not only make it harder for the zombies to see anything, but would also make their hearing quite useless as all they could hear is the sound of heavily pouring down rain.

Idea No. 3:

My favorite idea of the three. I know you guys are implementing the ability to drag/hide bodies, but what if you make a mechanic that allowed for such a thing to help someone? For example, Players A, B and C are taking fire from a sniper and are behind very little cover. The sniper hits player C in the leg, breaking his leg. None of the players have a morphine injector but they want to get their buddy the hell out of there! Player B HOISTS Player C over his shoulder to walk him away from the area while Player A lays down some cover fire. At the same time, Player C is able to shoot while being carried (if he has a pistol and can only shoot behind the player carrying him) but his accuracy will be almost zero at longer ranges. Player B (the one carrying Player C) would also be able to use a weapon such as a pistol, but would also have lower accuracy, maybe a slightly tilted camera due to the fact he's got one of his comrades hoisted over his other shoulder, and won't be able to full out sprint.

I really hope you like some of these ideas. I spent alot of time thinking about them. You do not have to respond (but it would be awesome if you did!) as I am sure you get tons of messages everyday. If you do use an idea of mine, I will be psyched! I love you guys and love the way the game looks so far. Keep up the great work and take care. Thanks!

I haven't played those games so I had no idea. Good news though, it's do-able. :)

Their mods for ARMA, so the coding is there, granted I don't know a whole lot about coding so I'm not sure how do-able it would be or if it conflicts with other coding

Oh, ok. Well, hopefully something team based will be implemented other than your usual blood bagging a friend, I think Dean and the crew know how to make this even more successful than the mod. Cheers!

For #2, that already comes into effect... notice that zombies will aggro less in the rain.

That I did not know. To be honest I have never played DayZ. I didn't even notice it existed until WarZ came out and I got WarZ because I was an idiot and never looked into it. Now I feel like I was scammed out of 20 bucks as that game is falling apart. More to the point though, I started watching a lot of DayZ videos and learned to love it just from the videos. When I learned DayZ was making a stand alone, that's when I decided to go with DayZ. Watching Frankie and Jacks videos made me fall in love with DayZ. :P

You can carry people in vanilla ArmA, but you can't use weapons in the process. In the future, you really should play the game before making suggestions for it.

While I appreciate you saying I should play a game before posting on it, I have seen over 20 hours of video footage to get enough insight on how it works. So I am able to see what connection it HAS and compare it to what it could have. From my understanding, DayZ StandAlone is pretty much getting a makeover. So for you to say I have no right to suggest an idea because I haven't played the game is pretty much saying no one has that right to suggest ideas considering there will be alot changed in the StandAlone that weren't in the mod. And that's coming from Dean Hall himself.

Hello there. Sorry to hear you haven't played the mod yet. Are you waiting for Standalone? I too was introduced to DayZ through Youtube when it was first released and i spent a week or so of watching Youtubers before i eventually bought Arma 2 CO. If you have Steam you can sometimes get the game on special.

As for your ideas:

1 - not sure if smell is going to be a feature of the zombies but it would be interesting if they were attracted to wounded or blood spattered players.

2 - like Beast says rain lowers your hearing and seeing icons so in heavy rain the zombies do aggro less

3 - i can see this being implemented at some point, it makes sense especially if your buddy is unconscious or has a broken leg and you want to get him out of there.

PS: Sorry about your WarZ experience

I am waiting for the StandAlone, yes. I do have Steam, so I might look into it. I'd hate to actually buy ARMA 2 and then 3 weeks later the standalone come out though. For now, I'll just have to wait I guess. Although WarZ was a mistake, It did lead me to DayZ. So I guess I can't hate it completely :P. Thank you for your feedback. Idea 3 was the one I wanted to see implemented the most. I had no idea that idea 2 was already implemented as I don't see many videos of people in the rain and it's hard to tell the aggro unless you're actually playing the game yourself, I think idea 1 would add some tactical type scenarios to the game as well. Like if you were playing as is right now and some dude was coming at you with a shotgun, you'd either log (which I find unsportsmanlike) or run away. Depending on their gun, you would most likely end up dead :/. But put a vile of blood in the hands of the "bambie" without a gun, have him toss it over a fence and hit the guy with the shotgun.... Well, you'll be singing a different tune as that guy is going to be partly blinded and have zombies all over him, giving you an easy escape while he fights to stay alive.

Hello there

Don't hold your breath for the SA. It'll be great but wont be out in a few weeks/months IMHO. Plus with the Arma 3 forwardporting of A2/OA assets I think there's interesting things afoot.

Regardless A22/OA are spiffing games.

I like Number 2 and 3. 1 seems a bit, I don't know, silly.

Thank you for your opinion and support. May I ask why you think idea 1 is "silly?" I don't know if you have seen The Walking Dead, but in the first season, Rick and Glenn cover themselves in Zombie guts and blood because it masks their "scent." We are thrown into a world full of zombies using any means necessary to survive. If zombies are implemented with scent they would be able to not only hear and see you, but smell you if you were close enough. Knowing that zombies are attracted to blood/movement/humans/ect why wouldn't one use blood as a distraction mechanism? That is my reasoning behind using the blood. Let me know what you don't like about the idea. Perhaps I worded it in a way that made it sound "silly."

I've been wanting idea number 3 to be implemented ever since I had to crawl across the entire map on two sepparate occasions and have my buddy look for morphine in the towns we passed. It took us around about 2 and a half hours to get from Zeleno to Stary and from Stary to Kraznostav. A mechanic that would alow to carry and injured player (i.e broken leg etc.) would both be realistic and awesomely practical.

About idea number 1: I think it would be a bit too much of a detail since we aready have flares, smokes and chemlights.
