Ive just had a thought...and it might be a crap idea, but what if you gained a small amount of humanity for every zombie you kill thats within a certain distance of another player (eg 10 humanity per zed within 25m of a player)

This would be a nice mechanic to reward players who try and defend their team-mates or randoms from zombie attack. obviously, its a risk as you might hit the player, but hey, thats life ;)

Thoughts?

That said, the poor guy would have been shot a long time ago, running around outside Cherno like that.

R4Z0R49, it seems, more testing would have been appropriate before release. Or it could maybe be devided into smaller patches to spread out the workload and the debugging?

Regarding the zombies hitting you through walls, is it even possible to avoid on this engine? Does it even have accurate wall crash detection? Just asking, because if you are trying to do a workaround on the impossible, you have my beans Sir!

This patch is really good .

Please stop complaining about the infected , they are still easy to deal with , but are more of a concern when you have other things to worry about , like in gun fight , or trying to get on a bike .

Avoidance is the best idea .

I still would like to see a slow regeneration of blood ( maybe a few hundred per hour , depending on rested state , hunger / thirst / general health ) , this would seem to make sense .

I really don't feel like health regeneration belongs in this game... i hope everybody who matters, agrees.

I'm not sure. When people rest, they heal. To keep me happy though it'd have to be a long process, not just a case of hiding in a bush for 20 mins.

I read somewhere (forget where), that the weapon customisation feature that is in the DayZ Civilian 'mod', will be put into vanilla DayZ? Is this true? Or was i just reading another post by somebody talking rubbish :P

I found 2 antibiotics in a pile of rubble on a street yesterday. Don't forget to look for those new loot spawn locations :)

I'm not sure. When people rest, they heal. To keep me happy though it'd have to be a long process, not just a case of hiding in a bush for 20 mins.

tricky one. how about dividing the health "bar" into three segments.

severe - major - minor

if health drops below...

...severe; blood degenerates slowly till player deceases, antibiotics, treatment, blood bags needed to raise player into "major"-segment

...major: blood level stays constant...inreases just very slowly, need bandages and rest to raise player into "minor"-segment

...minor: blood regenerates much faster

I like the changes to the zombies. It's great that there are different kinds of zombies (normal an viral), that they knock you down, are harder to lose.

But what i dislike is the spawn rate of zombies in the wilderness. It's too high in my opinion. Sometimes traveling through the woods makes me feel like running through a town with zeds everywhere.

So wasnt the emphasis on being stealth so important and talked about for this update?

If your not seen/heard zombies shouldnt agro.

Now it seems as if nothing you do aside from shooting Z's will be safe. Even that isnt safe because it rings the dinner bell.

I am not planning on updating for quite some time. The 17.6 is perfect in my opinion. Loot is available, good guns are rare, zombies are not super agro capable.

It is a survival game...you shouldnt get sniped by zombies so easily. In real life (who knows what zombies would be like :) you would think you can stealth your way around, or lose zombies by running around some buildings and being all stealth and quiet like...

That fact plus the limited loot now makes this a game of, lets just run around in the forest and avoid the towns altogether...effectively a forest/running/hunting sim.

I constantly get "Addweaponcargo battleye restriction #24" or something like that while connecting to any 1.7.7 server and kicked instantly. I don't exactly remember what weapons I got on me but im sure there is an m249 and I'm a hero too... Is there any way to fix this? Tried to connect to a private hive with 1.7.7 mod running and it worked fine. So that's why i'm thinking that its something about my current gear on the main hive.

Any help is much appreciated

Overall really awesome, and much needed, update! The zombies are my favorite part! WE ACTUALLY HAVE ZOMBIES TO FEAR NOW! Great work everyone involved!

The fact that bloodbags don't work is worrying (kicked for scripting). The fact that I didn't found one antibiotics in cherno while 4 of 5 players in my group were infected is worrying as well. It kind of annoyed me that zombies were still running through walls and stuff. I crawled under a wall and I thought, lets wait with a hatchet at the other side. They just ran through the wall... Especially the bloodbags are a gamebreaker.

Edit: to be positive, I kind of like the harder zombies and that the loot is more scarce.

Edit2: We also experienced an enormous framerate decrease. Anyone else noticed this?

The fact that bloodbags don't work is worrying (kicked for scripting).

That is a script restriction and needs to be addressed by your admin by updating his/her filters.

loot should be more common food and health wise. people havent got 6 hr to check churno out to find there isnt even a can of beans. most people have small amounts of play time .

zombie knock downs no thanks its stupid (yes i know you tweaking but it really should be very rare) also why are zombies so fast or " infected " they wouldnt be fast they would be slow !

zombies dead humans there for slower , infected = equals ill = not fully fit so slower than human.

only real thing i like and people that i have spoken to about this patch is the removal of the big guns snipers. thats it its not as fun as older patch.

Most of us have other things in our life that need doing, sometimes I'm not able to play a game for a couple of weeks because of work etc. that doesn't mean the devs should dumb the game down. DayZ became popular precisely because progress takes time and rewards patient, careful players, it was never supposed to be a game you dip in and out of for half an hour at a time.

There's a million other games out there already that cater to people that want a quick fix.

i think that's why veggies and fruits would be vital for the game as well as hunting/fishing

Yeah... that's why I stay out of the Cherno area when the majority of people are "awake." :) It's a really dangerous place, I hear. If I was running around Cherno like that, I would deserve to be shot. If I fresh spawn in Cherno, you know the first place I go? Away from Cherno. I know I can get most of the way to Stary before I have to drink and all the way there before I have to eat... and there are a ton of houses, barns and ponds between Cherno and Stary. Maybe my next video will be on how not to aggro zeds in the first place and how to deal with them before they become a problem. I aggro'd those ones on purpose to illustrate a point. If I had a hatchet, I would've taken care of them before they aggro'd.

Is anyone else having issues with the Steam version and getting stuck on "Retrying Authentication" over and over again? I am in the process of completely reinstalling my server because I thought I had botched the update somehow, but now I'm thinking it may have been an issue with the Steam version of the client files.

Only the first connection attempt is slow.

The zombies pathing and animations need to be fixed before making them harder. All the time I run past one and it's like 5ft away and it doesn't animate and suddenly I'm hit or it does the quick animation, hits the air but I'm still hit. They knock you on the floor but they ignore you until you get up....... I don't see the point?

I don't get why the loot rates have been dropped, it's impossible to find food and drink now.

I also don't get why vehicles still don't exist, I haven't seen one in months on public servers.
