this is why I suggested to make them more russian style and add the funny translations as easter eggs ...nobody would have complained if the brands would have been written in Cyrillic with the english translation wriiten below it...

Seeing as how people have been complaining about a texture they can't normally see and an item description they'll never read more than once, changing them to be brands familiar to the area, but keep the easter egg name translations in like the item description, wouldn't change too much.

I have a problem with how the implausible naming of food stuff might end up becoming a gimmick and ultimately a detraction from the fantasy aspect of this game that is really what I am interested in (I care not for the basic idea of a first person shooter game, I am all in for taking a part of an adventure).

But, MAYBE, if the food logo design is clever enough, I can cope with the can of food having a familiar name on it. So, simply having the name of someone on a can for the sake of doing so, is bad imo.

So, basicly, I think this is a bad idea, but perhaps if the names can be cleverly incorporated into a plausible logo for a food product, then I can overlook the obvious and still enjoy the game. Basicly, any change to the game that does not allow me to "suspend my disbelief" is bad imo.

You can't even see them nearly that well in the game either and they all seem better than I thought in those pictures. Everything seems to blend pretty well texture wise. I think alot of people just thought they'd look at their inventory and see "Herpy Dooves Muffins" rather than what is actually in your inventory "Can (Muffins)".

I just realized, how many people actually look so closely at the cans anyway? You just notice the colour and go 'oh thats Pepsi' I dont think anyone goes up to read them. Even when they're in your inventory, you're just going to drink it/eat it. Only the people on the forums are actually going to know what it means so why is everyone crying about it? I can't imagine anyone going around finding these cans and raging at the computer because its called Orlok fruit or Herpy Dooves muffins! WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? Please someone tell me so I have a better idea and a better argument...

Here's what I think the real problem is. The pony crap. Everyone has seen what a mockery the bronies make of themselves and everything else they seem to infect. Noone wants to see their serious game mockified by MLP bullshit.

Because we didn't need it, seriously how is that much variety going to enhance gameplay? Ever heard of the phrase "if it ain't broke, don't fix it?" There are plenty of other ways to give the team easter eggs, do we really need that much variety? Part of what made DayZ great was the fact that it was minimalist, but it still had the versatility to be very complex.

Nobody is ganging up on anyone. This is an open public forum where people exchange ideas and opinions. I understand that a lot of us may seem closed minded but that's only because the majority outweigh the minority on this subject. (the minority got their way tho.. damn you socialism)

Honestly, I had no idea brony was referring to MLP. Just thought it was a random internet meme. Regardless, the derpy can was referring to a moderators alias of which was referring to a MLP internet meme. And I really couldn't care less. It was in honour of a mod in a mod.

Go back to pages 2-6, there were 3 of us fighting just to make our opinions heard. It took 4 pages. 4. Even then a mod had to come in and shut everyone up and start handing out warning points just so we could actually say what we had to say without someone pulling some bullshit argument out of nowhere and trying to back it up. This is most definitely not an open public forum, this has as much circlejerking as /r/dayz, only you guys bitch about Reddit much more than Redditors bitch about the forums. In fact, there is actually a group of us trying to bridge the gap between the two since we're part of the same community but you guys are so closed minded to the idea you won't even hear of civility.

I just wanted to point out that I don't believe anyone is upset about mods getting recognition in the game. Personally I felt as if the amount of new products was "forced" to include everyone who has a right to be honored, no matter if the idea for their product was good or not.

Mountain Green, Dr. Wasteland, Mikhail Made Lemonade, are 3 drinks that I really really like. I understand using real products requires a license by the owner, so these are awesome replacements in my opinion.

I believe we made some good experiences with community polls in the past. Collecting ideas for products, letting the community vote, would therefor be the way I would like to see it done.

@ All Can-Designers: Please avoid funny references or Jokes. There is a difference between making a funny can for reddit and creating a product that probably up to a million people will hold in their virtual hands, several times a day. If you want to honor a mod on a can, make it in a way that doesn't provoke to be ridiculed.

Since when? I've been on here for a while now and have yet to see anti-reddit posts on a scale of which you are describing prior to todays kerfuffle.

Sad that a VERY vocal bunch of ingrates can't throw the mods a bone of recognition.

Their response to something as small as this is embarrassing for the community.

I for one had no issue with such a small and simple thing.

The funny thing is that I've heard a bunch of people complaining about immersion being spoiled. Ridiculous, so few people play 1st person, and play with cross-hairs, etc. I find it hard to believe their immersion is being compromised.

I can usually be accepting of other opinions but this "outcry" (read: whining) should just be treated with disdain.
