I've heard the closed beta is has been opened for DayZ forum staff, and officials from things like nvidia. I'm not sure when the rest are getting it, but I'm excited for it.

Plus loads of info. I for one didn't realise that DayZ would be using new player skeletons (as in completely new), they don't even have those for Arma 3, which is rather awesome BTW.

We're testing. 30 keys (or less? Not really sure) have been given out for server/stress testing ect.

Nothings slipped out because we're not douches :)

prototype futuristic soldier gear would fit in dayz? I like the quality of the models and the general design, but common, it's totally in opposition with what DayZ tries to achieve. I'm already a bit disapointed they're using arma 3 character models and underwear.

Seconded, SA models are too "clean" looking when in reality post-apocalyptic chars should look like something from The Road, dirty, in rugged torn clothing, missing teeth and so on..

At the state of the game as of last devblog spring release is simply not physically possible.

Who says these devblogs are actually current? This could be an old video

I'm sure the developers feel the same way, you see them make references to "Mad Max", they know what a post apocalyptic world should look / feel like. These sneak peaks of characters and items / clothing are very early days and definately not limited to what we are seeing. They state that clothes will affect much more than earlier versions of the game from extra pack space through use of pockets, changes to reactions with environmental conditions. I would be very surprised if there aren't varying quality of items that for example dont keep you as warm as a jumper that wasnt as battleworn, or holes in pockets that have a % chance to lose anything in those pockets.

Not everyone wants to run around though looking like a three-toothed monkey but, maybe cross your fingers for some creative character skins.

What If the whole shit started only a few weeks or months ago...nobody would look like someone from " The Road". If DayZ really would take place years after the infection there would be no zeds left. This means the scenery should look like in The Walking Dead or 28 Days later.

Yep and dean mentioned "children of men" and "the road" has it's 2 major sources of inspiration for the visuals and having hundreds of stills from the movie in his picture folder. The wrecked car models for instance are very "the road" looking IMO.

The textures are probably one of the easiest things to change in a game, so im sure they will be adding some dirt and grime to the character models its just not of importance to them right now.
