What is so fun about this game

Recommended Posts

Hiya people I have seen and heard a lot of people speaking about this game. I thought I should really see what the hype is about, I have watched a few videos online but do not see the fun or point in playing.

I was under the impression it was a zombie survival game but from the videos i watched I saw maybe 2 or 3 zombies which barely seemed bothered with the players...

Can someone give me a good idea of what makes this game worth the time and effort. Thanks :)

For the atmosphere, for the emotion, for the adrenaline rush and for the experience.

You have to actually play it. Just try it and see for yourself, unfortunately what watching videos does not do is give you the feelings you get from playing it.

Would you watch a video for an electric razor... see that it gives a good shave and go out and buy it?

Not many games make people buy a whole new rig just to be able to play it, this one does.

Also, it makes people shake with adrenaline. I shit you not, it literally does.

It's fun because you make your own story, you develop your own playstyle without any guidelines and you deside your own endgame, if there is an endgame for you. It's more fun if you like adventuring, if you like getting frustrated in a strange loving way, it will make you feel emotions you never felt in other games. It's even more fun because the mod has the ultimate human interaction.

AND IT'S EVEN EVEN EVEN MORE FUN BECAUSE IT TESTS YOUR SANITY. MUAHAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAA

You posted your Topic in the Server General Forum, which is for your information not the correct place for your question(s).

Therefore I moved you and your Topic to the New Player Forum.

Is that clear enough for you ?

That's because the ones you watched likely weren't about survival. When you're a really good player, the zombies don't really bother you when you're looting. Starting out and for a while after, they are a living nightmare.

Also, there's just been a new update, and Zombies are significantly more of a threat now.

How much time needs to be put into it though as it seems like you have to play it for an extended period of time in one sitting...?

Take your time, don't team up with any real life friends that already playing the game, they will spoil you by gearing you up, teaching you things that you should not know in the first place. Things that you should learn by experience, trial and error. The game has much to give you if you explore it properly.

I dont know if you can call playing DayZ fun - at least not the same sort of fun you get from other games.

It is like nothing else you will play and that is why so many of us are here.

I know a few people who thought like you did (What's the fuss, i dont see the point) until i persuaded them to have a go. And guess what, now they are hooked, just like the rest of us.

One rule here as far as I'm concerned...

Read the Stickies, use the Search Function, and we will get along just fine & dandy...

Welcome.

Nope, you can hop in and out whenever you want without losing progress. it will suck you in though and it is a game that rewards patience. It's not really a game to play if you're looking for a quick fix, it's a massive map and there;s a lot to learn. Don't let the learning put you off, that's the fun part.

You missed the hype. The hype was in July/August time. Its now a good and steady income of players, not a hype.

Nope, not even close to truth. You can play DayZ for 30 minutes and have an amazing experience You can play a marathon session easily.

For example, last week, I was raiding the supermarket in Zelenogorsk. Snuck in evading Zeds. Found a dead body in the market and while in there a car drives up. I'm making decisions on what to do if they advance on the supermarket, planning an escape route, etc.. They turn around and drive around a building. I take off, working my way out of the city. and into the forest.

It was a successful raid, I had a lot of fun, and a scary moment. All in 30 minutes.

Just be sure not to Combat Log... ;)

Dude, if this game doesn't appeal to you, just don't force it. You don't like it, play another game. You can't force yourself to enjoy a game you don't like.

I have never met more asshole on day Z, but then again the same can be said about heros,

The game is great for team play in my opinion.

Why is it fun? Well you dont go running around shooting RPG's at walls on a peanut sized map. If you like that, dont get the mod.

It is fun because, you need to have strategy and a plan to survive. You have to choose weather you should take that shot, you need to know the consequences. Will the shot attract bandits? (Players that will kill immediately) Will it attract a raiding horde of zombies? you never know. You might meet up and make a new friend, surviving the huge open world.

Its not a game for everybody, but its definetly becoming a popular game.

If you're not completely sure if you should get it, wait for the actual game.

ArmA 2 costs $25.00 on steam and the DayZ Game will be better, and cost less than ArmA 2 when it releases. (I think)
