Hello Everyone! I'm over watching people post myths or untrue things about the DayZ Standalone. Here are those topics of debate explained:

Since some people probably don't want to watch the video and think I'm just doing it for views, here is an outline of what I cover:

DayZ Standalone Myths

1. The DayZ Standalone will come out in April

- The answer is... not really.

- All of this comes from an article by massively.joystiq.com

- This is blown up from a Redit thread that is actually just a summary of another redit thread from here.

- Here is what he said: "Yes I think so, but anything could happen and usually does. We'll know more when the results of the tech test are out. Any dates before then would be pure speculation, and my last speculation didn't work out so good."

- So really, nowhere did he say April. He just threw a date out. It could very easily release much sooner or much later depending on the architecture test.

2. The DayZ Standalone will release on consoles

-No, not quite, Rocket said it would be probable if it released on Xbox if they sold over a million copies.

-When asked on Lirik's Channel on Twitch Tv if DayZ would come out for Xbox, he stated, "I think dayz going to xbox would be very likely if we sold over 1 million units."

Here are quotes from Rocket on the matter:

It's just basic maths really. Anyone in the video game industry would say the same thing, once a game reaches a certain point - the likelihood of some kind of console port becomes quite high. Cross-platform releases are about maximizing sales. I care about zero for consoles, personally. I have an Xbox 360 they gave me with my tv, I played for about a few hours and it just wasn't for me. I used to work at Sidhe interactive and that really reinforced for me I don't like console GAMES nor the DEVELOPMENT of them. 3. A console port will ruin DayZ

I have heard people complain that a console port may ruin the PC version. Again, here is a quote from Rocket to quell their fears.

But if independently of PC, it gets released on the Mac, iPhone, casio wristwatch, tibetian-ceremonial-balsa-wood-entertainment-drums ... who really cares? 2012 is the year of the PC game, the console manufactures know it, and they need to deliver for 2013 and beyond. We make the PC standalone development the best it can be... and if that translates well to another platform, cool! it means more players, and ultimately more customers.

4. The DayZ Standalone will be priced just like Minecraft.

- Well yes... and no. Yes, Rocket claimed that it would be priced like Minecraft. By this, he means that the price would be lower for people purchasing in the initial release and then the price will ramp up the better the game gets. Nowhere does he say that the price will be exactly like minecraft. When Matt Lightfoot was asked Q: What's the cost be of the standalone? and answered by saying, "A: Between 15€ and 20€, at the moment it's looking to be about 18€." Right now this would currently be about 24-25 dollars. But anyways, this quote outraged quite a few people just because they twisted Rocket's quote on the Minecraft model.

Does anyone know if DayZ does go to console (I'm a strict PC player) would it have like Console/PC integration so you could be playing with someone on Xbox or PS3 while you're on PC?

I have not seen any information on this at all and I don't think that exists. The console version is a complete afterthought for extra money if the Standalone sells well. I doubt they have thought it through at all. My best guess to your question would be no, but there is no official information.

No problem! I did it just because it also bugs me when they throw up a video with no explanation... It kind of forces you to watch it and it gives them views without really earning them.

There are a few games that have attempted that but they all failed for the console gamers.

There was a test done by Microsoft where they took some of the BEST X-Box players and pitted them against your average PC gamer and the X-Box guys got smoked. The project was then canceled.

Consoles aren't as accurate as PC's when it comes to controls, so most likely it will be a "No".

The important lesson, as you said - check the source. More often than not the tracking of the source leads to a comment based on pure speculation.

Ah alright, thanks for clearing things up. I remembered when CS:GO was in production Cross Platform was an idea in development but was scraped.

I try to keep all of my comments and rants PG. Along with this, I find it best to not offend anyone in the videos too much. I keep all of my negative comments on the forums. :P

I highly doubt it.

I really don't think it would be a straight up port over to console, a lot would have to be changed.

There have been more awesome games on console since the beginning of gaming than PC so I don't really understand this viewpoint. Just saying. :)

Actually, he read the direct quotes word for word from Rockets Q&A, he even showed the exact posts on the video as he read them and linked the original sources.

You're welcome to your opinions but don't spread misinformation in your videos by incorrectly quoting Rocket, for example "Dean Hall announced about two days ago that the release date would be before April or by April" is simply incorrect, he didn't say that at all and if these are your opinions then you need to make that clear instead of saying it's what Rocket said.

I actually quite enjoy your videos personally but the two I have watched have both been misleading and if I wasn't following the development closely I would have taken that information as factual when it's not. Take it as constructive criticism, as long as you use direct quotes from the original source then you can give your opinion or interpret that however you like as everyone can see what was actually said.

Also, you state:

"No its not coming out in april" then say "it may or may not"

If you think about it, what I said makes perfect sense.

The correct answer is: 'No, it's not coming out in April because it may or may not."

And why is that the correct answer? Because it leaves everything up in the air. There is no answer right now... when you say something like on or before April, you are giving an answer that isn't there. When I say, "It may or may not" I'm not giving any answer on when it is coming out, it's undefined.

I seem to spend half my time ATM correcting people that mis-quote Rocket or take a quote out of context to prove a point.

The other day I saw a post by a member that quoted Rocket (wrongly/out of context). 30 mins later that quote had been posted as fact by 2 other users and then someone else started a thread to discuss this "fact" and started raging about it.
